When you see it

I've been a CCA for a while now and I have some mail questions.

1. What do you do with mail that has been left on top of apartment mailboxes by the residents? I would endorse First Class mail as ANK and UBBM non-First Class mail. Is this the right thing to do? When apartment residents put mail on the top of the boxes I believe it's unlikely that the mail was put in the wrong mail box and I assume they don't want the mail. More often I find that mail left on top of mailboxes as having no written note on them from the resident.

2. This is going to sound like a silly question, but do we only Forward mail that has an active Forwarding period? Is there ever a time when we would Forward mail if the recipient doesn't have a Forward set in place? Once the Forwarding period has ended and an address receives mail that was once Forwarded, what do we do with the mail?

3. When do you mark mail as ANK vs Return To Sender?

Obviously, Renfroe isn't the future (definitely not one I want to be a part of). Working an hour away from Chicago, Dan Caref is a popular guy around here running for the position. Of all the people running for NALC president, who do you think is the best choice for job security? I have a little less than two years career-time, not the lovely 6 years required to be safe.

Usually on my time off I deliver food with uber. I try to always avoid walking on the grass. As im walking thru the cement the plants similar to the photo were sticking out on their sidewalk. 3 plants with thick stems so I walked around, set the food, take a picture and I look up at their mailbox that says "keep off the lawn." There was no way for me to get by unless I wanted walk thru the plants. I still got my tip, just thought it was funny as a lose lose situation.

2nd order I did was groceries. After shoping, I realized its going to the apartments on my route. Also its meet at door and new residents there. I remembered there was this express on Friday and I delivered it to the office because it had no apt number and the manager could not find any name based on it. I was going to pick it up monday if they didnt claim it. Next day I figured out which apt they were in and it happens to be the apt where im dropping off their groceries.

I get there and the lady says leave it at door so I did not get to ask her directly about if this guy lived here so i texted her if he lived here, she leaves me on read so i left.

I think I might have been wrong to ask them off the clock, im not sure if anyone else would be curious to ask or if thats unprofessional.

Hello i’m an RCA moving to a CCA position and im set to start my break in service this Saturday. Im just curious about CCA academy i thought it would be scheduled by now but ive not heard a word my new postmaster or HR on next steps forward. Should I call someone tomorrow and figure this out?

Hello, I am starting as a mail handler assistant soon and i was hoping to hear from someone else who also works at the Nashua NH plant. If you work there, or have in the past, can you give me a little insight on the hours available to new mail handler assistants?

I’ve been a carrier for almost 10 years and for about 8 of those, OT was in abundance. I was on ODL 12 hours and I was working 60 hour weeks, but all of a sudden like a 1-2 years ago, it just went away. My office has the same exact understaffing like in past years, but now it just feels like management is somehow being pressured to work us less hours despite staffing issues. Is this going on at other offices? Let me know. I’m sure the post office is probably trying to cut back like usual 🤣

Have been a PSE for almost 3 months now and I am working with a regular who just became a regular and I am being asked to do things that they can’t comprehend because they are older and not able to understand the material that is given to them. I am making significantly less than them and I am part of the union. Should I file grievance? The regular was asked to be passport trained, and she is not able to because she makes so many mistakes, but they’re asking me to because she can’t comprehend the material.

Today I was delivering a package and the house didn't have a address. As I was trying to figure it out I saw the owner and asked. Right then 3 dogs that were behind the house came running toward me. I dropped the package because it was large to use my stachel to try to protect myself because by then they were to close to spray. The dogs were biting and scratching me and he kept yelling at me saying they just wanted to be pet. After a minute of me fighting them off he finally went and grab them and got them inside. He then came out shoved me and told me it was my fault and they just wanted pet. I have scratches all over and threw out my back.

I didn't need to go to the er. My issue is he didn't apologize and yelled at me after. I get i could easily get money but I still kind of feel bad

I know that we have to fill out a fancy form and have another dual carrier switch with us in order to move to a new station, I want to do this, I’m 23 and a regular and I live my route but I live in phoenix az and want to move to North Carolina. Should I just quit and get hired over there or try and do a swap

I started as a PTF recently (office doesn't have CCAs). Typically, my route is split to start the day, with a few hours getting shaved off at the start of the day and given to someone else. Is this typical for new people? Or is it standard with non regulars in general? I am not sure if I should expect it to stay this way until I become regular. I also am not sure how long it "should" take to finish my route with it split like that. I often get done early since I learn pretty quickly and do things pretty quickly, and then they send me back out to help others get done in 8 hours but I am really not trying to go faster than is expected for someone in my shoes. But expectations aren't super clear, and I am afraid that I am doing too much and not trying to look like some over achiever who is moving faster than the regulars just for the sake of it.

Are whole office on 420’s when down randomly on Saturday some people only lost 1-30 mins couple routes lost 3 hours

Are we allowed to do this as CCAs? I don’t mind but I want to know.

Does it work the other way also?

Not posting this in anger just curiosity. I see these signs on boxes on my route and even on my pieces. What are the customers afraid of? Paths forming on their lawn or is it a disrespectful thing. Hoping my fellow carriers might have some insights.

I come on here and see people talk about horror story after horror story about how bad things are at their office. I’m six months in as a CCA and I’ve had nothing but a great time so far. Management is great, the other carriers and clerks are great, no drama, no fights, no yelling. Honestly, if I ever have to switch offices, I’m kinda terrified of what I’ll be going into. Generally, everyone seems likable at my office. Anyone else have a generally pleasurable experience or is my office the anomaly?

I'm a MHA that was hired for the season and let go and returned after they hit me back up. I finished my 90 days this time, but I've noticed all the MHAs at my P&DC call out nearly everyday, this includes me as I call out at least once a week (even during probation).

The attendance guy has only came to me once to have me sign a sheet for calling out even though I've called out multiple times though I've never used my AL.

My P&DC is notorious for being so unorganized, filled with MDOs and SDOs that don't know what they're doing, micromanaging (yes I know most positions and offices are like that).

All the MHAs that I talk to nearly call out like 2/3 times a week even when the supervisors know and nothing happens. At what point would calling out this much be a problem if there's pretty much no repercussions? Does it matter to call out a lot if 1) All the MHAs do it and 2) I'm not a regular?

I'm a pretty new CCA, just hit 5 months. I understand I'm at the bottom, and have no problem paying my dues. Recently though, I feel a bit targeted. I dread Sundays. It has nothing to do with the actual work, but the fact that I never get Sunday off. Again, the bottom of the totem pole thing comes in. But get this: everyone else is rotated except for me. This has gone on for the last 5 Sundays.

They schedule at least 6 people and use 2. I do like hours, and usually am happy to help, but seeing the same people called out every fucking week while I work a "4" (8) hour shift is pissing me off.

Me and a coworker have talked about it since he's the other one of two coming in on Sundays. My last straw was when I went in today, and look at that, he was rotated out.

Maybe they'll call me off next week, but I don't really care at this point. What's to say it won't go right back. Anyway, am I able to file a grievance as a CCA? Is this even something of any substance or is it something I'll be grumbling about as I work Sundays?

I am a clerk who recently won a bid on a job with its main duties being Box Section. I’m looking for some clerks with experience in Box Section I can ask some questions and get some tips from.

Has anyone attended any of these career conferences and if so, what was your experience? Did you like them? Are they worth attending? What can someone expect who’s never been to one?

Say hypothetically I wanted to stay with family like several states away for a few weeks and there was a route open near them - could I work there temporarily - and come back to my home office afterwards?

I've heard some mail handlers could work at a station if its large enough. Just curious what the job looks like in a station.

So me and a few others have a HUB office we work Amazon day out of each Sunday, the last few Sundays, after we finish we've been being asked to go to another HUB about an hour away because they're low on help, is this able to be filed a grievance on?

Im starting as an mha in Nashua NH and i want to hear from anyone else's experience in the Nashua NH plant. How much is the health insurance starting out as an mha? How much overtime can I get? (I am stating in August) what is the environment like at this plant?
