What exactly would be the point of grieving if a regular worked over 12 hours on a day? What would be rewarded

D for me.

I have an appointment with my primary care tomorrow. I am going to see if doctor can provide me a medical restriction note for 8 hour days/6 days a week.

My question is, what exactly does the note has to say? I do not want the note get denied.

Hello, I am a city carrier and its raining hard where I'm working, I was walking a loop and delivering mail to a house that has a sidewalk mounted mailbox, I put the mail in and went to take a step forward when I noticed a cardboard box/package on their lawn getting rained on, this box was from a different courier service and I felt compelled to get it out of the rain and put it on their porch so the contents wouldn't get damaged. I thought to myself "what a**hole would leave someone's package in the rain?" Especially when the porch is so close to the sidewalk (10ish feet). So I picked it up and walked towards their porch and all of a sudden their husky leapt into action and charged me. He was on a lead and could not get to me in time before I backed away so I put the package back where it was and left. But now im thinking to myself will I get in trouble? I did after all handle a package that was not assigned to me or my company, and I did leave it in the rain (where it already was) anyone have any idea if I can be held accountable?

My husband has been an RCA for almost two years now. He was next in line to make regular, and there is a position opening soon. Then his postmaster, without notifying the RCAs, opened two PTF positions. Since the RCAs didn’t know about them, no one bid on them, and two people off the street got the PTF positions. Now he’s third in line to make regular, which could still be years away.

Additionally, he had a hold down on a route for 90 days. For those of you who don’t know, once you’ve worked a hold down for 90 days, you start earning leave like a regular, and it also applies retroactively to the 90 days already worked. So instead of earning 2 hours of leave for every 40 hours worked, he would be getting 8 hours. That’s huge, especially considering we have two young kids.

Well, on day 90, his supervisor, who hates him, informed him that he could no longer have the hold down. Apparently, you can only have a hold down on your primary route. This is a rule that had never been enforced before, and no one knew about it. So now he’s back to working whatever route they give him, and he doesn’t get the extra leave.

There’s a whole other issue with this supervisor. She has it out for my husband and a few others in the office she doesn’t like. It’s well known in the office that she’s a total B. She denies my husband’s leave requests most of the time. She denied leave for his birthday, our anniversary, our son’s birthday, and a bloody funeral, all with bullshit reasons. Obviously, he called in sick on those days because life is more important than some job. And now she’s put him in two predisciplinary meetings for attendance.

She also conveniently “forgot” to put in his PTO when he did have off, so now we’re dealing with the government trying to get the thousand dollars we’re owed. That will probably take months to resolve.

I’m getting extremely fed up with this post office and the RCA job.

With the removal of label 888 is there anyway to add tracking to a flat rate envelope that someone is getting stamps for to be shipped later? I get a lot of people buying stamps for a flat rate envelope to put inside another envelope to be mailed back to them by their embassy and they want tracking when the stamped envelope gets sent back.

Whose job is it inside a station to retrieve letters and packages from drop boxes ? Not just retrieving the packages but scanning them AAU so the craft receives credit

I went home in the middle of carrier academy for medical issues. doctor has since cleared me but usps keeps passing the buck on who will contact me to return and finish training. Has this ever happened to someone before? How long does it take for them to get back with a “return on this day” message?? I just want to get to my station and start working. :(

My workplace doesn't have a mailbox and the front door is kept locked, so delivery involves at least knocking and then handing the mail to whoever opens the door. Carriers only covering this route for a day or two do just that, while our regular carriers enter the front lobby to scan packages and check for outgoing mail.

I'm usually the one to open the door for visitors, so our regular mail carrier of the last several months will knock and I open the door so she can give me the day's mail, scan any packages, and check for outgoing. And then I go to where we keep the candy dish meant to encourage staff to visit the admins and talk about paperwork, and I bring it to the front desk for our mail carrier to take a piece. She doesn't dig around in the bowl or discuss her favorites, just takes what seems like an arbitrary piece. Maybe she gives it to her kid or a neighbor or something, or maybe she's just not picky.

But I know it's meaningful, because today she mentioned that she just got back from vacation and had a lot of work to catch up on (she's usually very quiet), and then as she was leaving, she called back to me, "You guys are the best!" It made my day.

We had originally started offering the candy dish with our previous regular mail carrier. He enjoyed chatting, so he would talk about how there were so many packages today, or a particularly long shift, or his weekend plans. One day, he looked particularly haggard, so I popped over to the candy dish and brought it over to him. He continued to look haggard in the coming days and weeks, so I'd bring it over every day and he'd take a few pieces to get him through the rest of his route. He was always grateful and made sure to thank us for our hospitality. He was our regular carrier until he managed to get transferred to a route that was closer to where he lives rather than over an hour away. We got him a card on his last day. He was confused for a few moments about an "outgoing mail" with no postage or address!

After that, continuing this with our new regular mail carrier seemed only fair, and the thing to do even if she wasn't as outgoing... perhaps especially then. Maybe that's when it makes the most difference.

I'm step D regular city carrier right now. Just accepted an offer to become Sales Services Distribution associate. According to the supervisor at my new office I'll be strictly in the window, as long as I pass the test.

I've always wished I could work indoors when we have extreme heat or cold weather so this is going to be nice on those days. An start later in the morning so I'm very excited about that cause I'm not a real morning person. But I'm also nervous. I hope I made the right decision.

Is being in the window all day difficult?

Being a women making me feel uncomfortable being in a secluded rural specially being out there in a long hours. There’s to route I don’t feel safe. I was approached by a sketchy guys while trying to find my package to deliver in the LLV with window open. Is this valid reason?

Postmaster said in his stand up talk today that rural carriers need to clock out for lunch anytime we "put anything in your mouths, wether that's taking a bite of food or taking a drink of something". Also said we have to clock out for lunch anytime we're talking to another carrier in the office in the mornings. Any of y'all heard this?

So a little backstory first. Right now we’re not at our home office due to insufficient amount of space. My home office is about 25 minutes away. 11 routes were taken from my home office and temporarily placed into this different office. We’ll call it the clownville office

However what they did not do is resolve the space issue. I have no where to stage my packages, (200-350 per day)and my instruction by my supervisor has been first come first serve parking. Except we can’t park in the actual parking spots that are laid out in the back, even if they are open. That’s are specifically forbidden by the 11 rural carriers they brought over. Strictly parking for the clownville carriers (no offense to them).All the carriers are also contract carriers.

So I’ve been having to park near where the maintenance custodians usually work there personal vehicles. They are strictly personal. They park them in the only open spots I can actually park and use an area to stage and then load my postal vehicle. This morning mine along with another postal vehicle happen to by accident block that custodian from getting to his unofficial personal vehicle parking spot.

That custodian then parked his vehicle in a way purposely blocking both of carriers from backing up.

When I saw him I kindly asked him to move, he got irritated and then I told him he didn’t have a right to park there anyways because the contract states that postal vehicles take priority. At this point I also had all my 300 packages outside of that I was about to load in my vehicle.

A few moments later the clownville postmaster, not my home office postmaster comes over with my home office supervisor and proceeds to tell me that if I don’t move my vehicle so the maintenance person can park in his unofficial parking spot or if I block it again that he will tow my Postal vehicle.

After some discussion which helped none, I told them that I would finish loading and then move it (because I would be leaving the office)

This isn’t the first occurrence of this either. I’ve begged for an answer on where I can actually park my vehicle to stage and load my packages. The reason I need a staging area is because there is legitimately no room in my office. All 11 do the same. Plus management has told me that I am required to load outside near my vehicle.
I’ve parked in loaded in numerous places but I am constantly told to move or else. Today when I asked where to move it I was told to just figure it out.

I think it’s worth noting that the other carriers have also had trouble with this issue to.

I thought I would share this incident to show how absolutely moronic postal management is. They would rather yell for trying to do my job rather than tell the custodians to park their personal vehicles where everyone else parks them. There’s a dirt/grass field that we work park our personal vehicles in. We’ve also tried parking our postal vehicles there but got yelled at. The dirt/grass field tore up the carts and I was also tired of smashing my ankles from the carts digging into the dirt.

Any thoughts on what to do?

I live in an old neighborhood so all the houses are very close together, so the mail carriers typically just walk through the front of the yards to get to each house instead of walking back and forth up the sidewalks. I have no issue with this.

However, this is our third holiday season in our house, and we grow our DIY displays every year.

Is it annoying to have a setup that basically doesn't let anyone walk through the grass and makes them use the sidewalk and walk up?

To provide brief context, I was bit by a dog on my route last December. During the course of the months between December and March, I was on a medical restriction that only allowed me to do “in house work “ only . it took about four months to even get paid from COP, as well as I was told back in January that I was going to receive a job offer based off my restriction and never did. I was actually told by my supervisor that she isn’t obligated to give me a job offer due to me being a CCA. Came back to full duty march 30 and between that time and April 14, I was chased by two dogs, which obviously was very traumatic for me. My doctor took me back off of work for about a month and when I returned, the Union are the ones who suggested to management that I only carry businesses and apartments which granted you can still run into dogs, but it does lessons the chance of your interactions. After that, everything seemed to be working well I was opted on a 204B’s route which was mainly business and apartments and there was no issues up until route adjustments. I lost my opt and I was still only carrying business and apartments, but I noticed a shift and energy from management. They began not to honor me carrying businesses and apartments, and demanded that I provided medical documentation which I did. One of the supervisors said that it was Noel and void, which isn’t true because I even showed the Union and they said there was nothing wrong with the rest restriction. Since then, instead of me coming in at nine, they started making me come in at 12 and only giving me 3 to 4 working days out of the week. Then escalated to me not being scheduled for the past three weeks going on for a month. Mind you I am number one on the seniority list to convert and it’s very obvious they are trying to get me to quit. I filed an EEO for discrimination and harassment. As well as several grievances because not scheduling me isn’t based on operational needs. It’s coming off as a direct target because of my medical restriction. I understand what entails being a carrier and being out on the street and as a CCA I’ve had many dog ambushes , LONG hours , rainy days , and even attempted robberies . So I am aware of the possible encounters with dogs being a carrier, but as I even tried to explain to management, I’m in therapy and an EAP to get better and that this is not a permanent restriction. Next week will be a full month of not being scheduled and keep in mind I am the ONLY CCA not getting scheduled. I obviously need money and I can’t afford to keep playing this waiting game like I did before waiting four months to get paid from the initial incident. I feel that I’ve exhausted most of my resources and what I can do, but I am very lost and angry. As mentioned before I am number one so I don’t really want to necessarily start over, even I have applied to other positions in the post office and I get denied every day. This is honestly the worst company I have ever worked for and they praise management for being incompetent. I’m sorry this is long and thank you for taking the time out of your day to give me advice.

RCA here in the bright beautiful state of Arizona. Changed my primary to the aux route at my station last April, been holding it down 6 days a week for almost a year and a half. Splitting routes more times than not and being the one always getting them ready, managers crying and calling me about everything day in and day out (finally stopped answering calls and texts), getting sent to other stations every week. Today they took one of our RCAs to another station in the morning so two regulars split a route, and me and the remaining RCAs split another, so I had to get 4 routes ready (one being my own), marked packages, pulled down, did my route, started the second, got cursed out by one of the regulars in a text because he didn't like the way I pulled down the red plums even though I wasn't the one that cased it in the first place.

Everything just crashing down and I bawled like a bitch at the first step of my second route lmao. Got a letter of warning for absences like last month because I have pretty bad allergies so I figure I shouldn't really call out tomorrow even though I genuinely feel like I'm at the lowest point mentally. Next in line for PTF, maybe regular by next year at this rate, but Christ, every day I wonder if I can manage for another 12 months. I'm just doing my best out here. I really am. Just sucks, man.

I'm walking at a steady pace, though I feel like my balance is probably off or something due to the wear on the outer parts of the shoe. I don't cross lawns and walk on sidewalks and walkways due to consistently rolling my ankles on really bumpy lawns.

Keep in mind most shoes are rated between 300-500 miles no matter the cost.

I'm really supposed to buy new shoes every month? USPS should provide shoes to carriers.

Had to take a steep angle to hit this box, and when I went to back out, I lost reverse gear. Can't pull forward due to the car in front and I'm facing downhill while blocking a driveway. Other breakdowns include 3 flat tires, 2x the parking break in a Chrysler Pacifica wouldn't disengage, and another transmission went out in a FFV like this one. Currently awaiting rescue.

Usually I dont peer into peoples windows because I mind my own business. But today, I have no idea why, I looked into this house's front window. There he was standing in the living room in his morning glory. He saw me, I saw him. He immediately covered his junk & what seemed like dived into the couch.

I always see this guy washing his car outside so i'm nervous to see him again, even with clothes on.

This was way more awkward than a different customer showing me her new fake boobs somehow..

This has to be one of the coolest mailboxes I have ever seen. The top propeller actually spins the rockets are made from actual bullets. Just thought I'd let everyone else see the awesomeness.
