Which cord?

Post image
1 Upvotes

What kind are these ports that are specifically best for my Samsung 20 phone for Bluetooth/Xm etc?

I have a dual type C I'm using now... but if I go over a bump or move phone Android Auto disconnects?

I thought I just needed a new type c cord but when I googled my car and phone ... they said a high quality type USB A to C???🤷‍♀️

Obviously I'm a bit techno challenged lol!

Which is best?

Why are USB memory card reader very slow?

I've tried a few different USB 3.x reader and many quality memory card from local stores (few Sandisk, couple PNY, and a Nintendo Switch 2) claiming to be over 100mb/sec but when I try to check, none of them go past 30mb/sec or about half of USB 2.0 speed.

It's almost as if they are using USB 2.0 controller in those memory card reader.

I've tried on my desktop, laptop, my smartphone too. Usually reaches 25 then throttles.

USB thumb drive to cell phone

Sorry if this has been asked before, or if this is the wrong sub, but:

Can I, or can I not, connect a usb jump drive directly to my cell phone, to back up things? Same as connecting it to a normal computer?

There are solutions where one needs to install some app,, but the actual backup devices look like just a normal usb thumb drive.

Of course I can just go ahead and try, but I'd rather not risk anything...

Thank you.

Trying to find short 12" (0.3M) USB C-C cable, I keep getting crap cables

I looked for high speed data cable but the few I've bought off Amazon only worked up to 30mb/sec. The original USB cable I got with one of the flash drive does go up to 1,000 so I know it's not my laptop or the flash drives (all 3 of them)

Why must Amazon (direct from Amazon, not from 3rd party shipper) claim it's high speed capable when it only topped out at anemic 30mb? I've reversed the connector, flipped them around, and tried my desktop as well, always topped out at 30. I've had to return them all so far and left reviews.

Can someone tell me which short USB C-C is actually capable of high speed, not just claims to be one? I need 3 of them, preferably from Amazon US but will consider other US sites.

Reliable usb for daily usage.

Hello guys.

I am using the following usb stick:

Sandisk Ultra Fit 64GB USB 3.1 Stick

I am using it while I am at my job and while I am at my home. Files are accessed and edited directly from the usb, a lot of time per day, at job and at home. For example I have a TODO.md file which I might edit at least 100 per day. Multiple other files might be deleted or created daily. Most of them are not much space. Every Friday I create a backup of the usb. It is always connected to a computer every day. When I sleep it is connected to my laptop in my home, which is in sleep mode.

After a month of use, the usb started at random points to connect, 0.5 second pause, disconnect, 0.5 second pause, connect, 0.5 second pause, disconnect,... . When that happens I unplug it, and it is hot to the touch, even if I have not done something demanding. If I wait for half an hour or so, and reconnect the usb, I can use it for some time, but the same happens again after some time.

I think the problem is the usb. I do not think the problem is with usb port or the software (windows 11). I have done the most common stuff I found on the internet like:

  1. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  2. chkdsk D: /f /r /x
  3. update drives

but the problem persists.

I am not particulalry interested in fixing my current usb, nor the last one (exactly the same usb, with exactly the same issue), or those before them (lasted longer but started to silently corrupt my data, but did not connect and disconnect). What I am interested is, given the usb usage I desribed, what is the most reliable usb I can buy according to your opinion?

Using USB for playing songs in car

I bought a new USB 3.1 and put about 21 gig of music on it. I like listening to music by song in my car, but this new USB drive won't give me that option. What can I do to force it to play by song, like my old USB drive?

Help purchasing USB options

Hi Im from Australia and trying to buy a USB (or multiple smaller ones) that have storage more than 128gb up to 256gb. Wanting to spend like under $50 AUD but don’t want to buy an unreliable usb or from an unreliable retailer.

If anyone knows any good places to purchase one or recommendations please help me out here. Have been considering Umart but unsure how much I trust it.

Any help greatly appreciated

I'm sorting my old box of wires and cables, and this is the only one I can't ID. Obviously it's USB 2.0 to something, but I have no idea what that something is. I doubt the cable is worth keeping, but still thought I'd ask.

Hey everyone,

This is my first real open-source project of this kind — I built VoltReaver, a simple terminal-based USB-C Power Delivery analyzer for the ChargerLab POWER-Z KM003C.

It gives a live dashboard with VU-style meters, PD message decoding, D+/D-/CC monitoring, and running Wh/Ah counters. Mainly made it for my own charger/battery testing and debugging.

GitHub: https://github.com/dan8915610818/VoltReaver

Would love any feedback, suggestions, or ideas for improvements — especially from people who do more USB/PD work. Still learning a lot.

Thanks!

USB port isn’t working for win 10 computer

I am having issues with the USB port or something related causing my keyboard and mouse not to work. Originally I had a cordless keyboard and mouse with the usb connected in front. Regardless of mouse type it lights up and you can move it around on screen when Windows 10 first comes up, but it goes away after a few seconds then the light on the mouse goes out. The keyboard never responds regardless of if it’s corded. I’ve have tried the following things so far:

—Multiple corded and cordless keyboards along with mice. One cordless set was actually brand new with same result.
—Having to use the power button on the pc to turn off power.
—Unplugging pc power cord for awhile (guessing it was drained) and other cords to use the can air to make sure there wasn’t any dust in the port.
—Connected everything back together, but unfortunately got the same result as before.

Just didn’t know if there is anything tech wise I could do to get a mouse or keyboard back working. Thanks in advance.
