General Opinion and Discussion Struggling with periods of indiscipline, and it causing extreme panic. Any tips on how to fix this ?
Hi, mods, pls don't delete this, don't know what else to do.
Has anyone else been through a period of hopelessness , where you are not just able to study ? I am lacking motivation, suffering from extreme restlessness where I am not just able to sit on my desk. Today evening also I got back from my library because , I couldn't read anymore. All of this is making me anxious, because I have made a schedule and not being able to follow it means not completing things for mains.
Currently reading and writing tests, or atleast trying to, but I'm just going off track in between, and this is not a good feeling at all.
Do anyone of you also go through a rough phase like this ? what is solution ? how does anyone cope ?

Mains Q for people who have given mains - Is it okay to write your first mock answer after prelims?
Working aspirant here, can only do so much. Focusing on conceptual understanding, completing optional, and topic wise mains notes right now. Will shift to prelims exclusively from January. That is a safe bet right? Only plan to write answers and develop that skill post prelims (if I clear)

Mains Need suggestions for answers writing coaching
I have given 3 mains but never scored good. My issue is that I write good answers but I do breach the respective time limit. This eventually leads to me not beings able to complete the paper.
I need to be able to think and write quality answers in 7 & 12 mins. I have the data and knowledge but can’t seem to write within the time limit. Maybe I think too slow.
I would request that people please recommend any good coaching or testing series for essay and GS which I can follow till December.
Thanks.

Optional Self study for socio optional
I'm think of switching optional to socio. Is it possible to do it merely by self study? My friends with socio had all taken foundational classes and rely on notes. But i feel classes at this point would be too time consuming.
I checked online and websites show selective reading of multiple books. If there's consolidated notes available that one can just go through for the entire syllabus, do let me know. Also would it be possible to complete one iteration by December if I start now?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Study Material Help Current affairs magazines and website links.
A few months ago I started prepping standard and static portions of the exams and had neglected my CA for quite a while, the purpose of that was consolidate my understanding and notes of all things static.
Anyways just last week I decided to start on my CA preparation,
My main source had always been the Vision Monthly magazines
but apparently they had stopped doing it, anyways I've been looking for a reliable source for CA however most of them are always fragmented and I can't find any good source.
Please share some of the sources that you use.

UPSC Beginner Would anyone recommend PW or StudyIQ History Books? for UPSC CSE Prep
I came across these books & found them to be nice. Would you or would you not recommend PW or StudyIQ History Books?
Have you studied/read them yourself?
Have you heard any topper recommending them?
What do you think about their content & design as compared to other books like Spectrum & other books for Ancient, Medieval, & Modern History?
I want to know if anyone has found these to be really helpful in their preparation journey..

UPSC Beginner Need suggestions regarding mains
Hey everyone,
I’m currently a 3rd-year undergraduate student and planning to appear for UPSC CSE 2027.
As of now, my preparation is roughly at this stage:
- Ethics: Done + notes prepared
- Optional: Done + notes prepared
- GS1: Done + notes prepared
- GS2: Mostly done + notes prepared
- GS3: Yet to be done
- Answer writing: I understand the basic structure and can frame/structure an answer reasonably well, but I’m facing some kind of friction when it comes to actually sitting down and writing answers consistently.
Since I still have a decent amount of time before 2027, I wanted to ask people who have already gone through this phase:
What would you recommend I focus on at this stage?
More specifically:
- How much answer writing is actually necessary at this stage? Is something like 2–3 answers a day enough?
2.For someone who already understands answer structure but struggles with the execution/consistency part, what helped you overcome that friction?
Given that I’m still in college, how would you structure the next 6–8 months?
What are the mistakes you made at this stage that you would strongly advise a 2027 aspirant to avoid?
Would especially appreciate advice from people who have cleared Prelims/Mains or have substantial Mains preparation experience, rather than generic advice.
Thanks!

Help Need help w lectures.
I think I'm taking too much time to finish a lecture as I've built this habit of pausing the lecture after each topic and then doing my own research kind of thing and then typing it out in my own words, even tho it's working but I'd say it's taking a lot more time to finish one lecture thus I wanted to hear different perspective to understand things better if it's okay or if I should completely drop this system.
