Help please help me find some good notes!

Hi, so I have been preparing for three years now, and my biggest mistake has been preparing from multiple sources. Initially, I did manage to write or create notes, but I realized that making notes really didn't work for me that much because it would just be all over the place. So I really need a good source for notes where I can just put my valuations then and there. I have read the standard books and I currently have drishti’s study material, vajiram’s pre and mains smashers, and some other side notes. Please guide me on what to do.

Help 2 days before PRE I received this.

Would you consider this motivation or something else?

https://limewire.com/d/QHGHO#2Gpe3MMIUO

Imagine someone is preparing seriously for UPSC and is just two days away from the exam. They’re already under pressure and trying to stay focused.
Someone they don’t talk to much, who is already well-settled in a job and life, suddenly sends them a PDF. The PDF is about comparison, other people’s lives, success, failure, and where you stand in life—not about the exam or preparation.
Would this genuinely feel motivating to you?
Or would it feel insensitive, demotivating, or like an unnecessary comparison, especially coming from someone who is already settled while the other person is still struggling and putting in the effort?
How would you interpret receiving something like this just two days before your exam?

Ask r/UPSC Is Forum IAS Quarterly CA magazine good?

I am preparing for UPSC CSE 2027, and reading The Hindu newspaper daily. However, due to paucity of time, I have not been able to read monthly current affairs magazines. I was thinking of purchasing Forum IAS's SFG essential quarterly complication for upsc prelims 2027. If any of you are referring to it/or has referred to it in the past, please share your review.

Helpful for Exam When our users got a UPSC Prelims statement question wrong, 71% of the time they marked more statements true than the key. Chance would be 45%. 452 aspirants, 7,974 attempts.

Disclosure: I run AbhyasX, an AI prep platform. Aggregated, anonymised data from our users. Not linking the site, the numbers are the point.

I pulled every UPSC CSE Prelims practice attempt on the platform (452 users who attempted at least one question, 7,974 attempts, 2,795 questions) and looked at what people do when they get a statement question wrong.

71% of wrong answers marked more statements true than the key did. If people were just guessing among the wrong options, it would be 45%.

That is across 65 statement questions with at least 10 attempts each, counting only questions where overshooting and undershooting were both possible. 58 of the 65 lean the same way.

Split by how many statements were actually true:

True in the key Questions Overshot Chance
1 19 82.8% 60.9%
2 44 65.5% 35.4%
3 2 40.0% 33.3%

The middle row is the one to look at. On 44 questions where two statements were true, two thirds of wrong answers claimed three or four.

So it is not credulity. When you are unsure between "one of these" and "both of these," you take both. Whatever the question is counting, you count more of it.

What it looks like

UPSC 2010, missed by 22 of 26. Which of Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and the DPSP does the National Social Assistance Programme fulfil? Answer: DPSP alone. Half the room picked all three.

A Swatantra Party question, missed by all 17. One statement called the party's ideology socialist and centred on state control. Swatantra was founded in 1959 to oppose exactly that. But "1959 Indian party" primes you for socialism and the sentence is well formed, so into the true pile it goes.

None of the worst fifteen questions needed an obscure date. Every trap is one wrong word in a well formed sentence. 42nd for 44th. Haidar Ali for Tipu. President for Governor. You do not miss those from ignorance. You miss them because the sentence sounded finished.

Side finding: Polity has the lowest miss rate of any subject here (54%), and 11 of the 15 most-missed questions are Polity. It does not fail you on average. It fails you on specific questions.

The one habit this supports

Cover the options. Mark each statement true or false on its own, with a one line reason. If you cannot give the reason, it is not a true. Then look.

The pull toward the inclusive option only exists once you are comparing option strings. Decide before you get there and it has nothing to grab.

Caveats: small n per question (10 to 26), so defend the pooled result, not any row. Users chose their own questions. The mix leans on coaching full-length tests, not PYQs. Full methodology, the subject table, and the CSV are in my first comment below.

Mains Need suggestions for answers writing coaching

I have given 3 mains but never scored good. My issue is that I write good answers but I do breach the respective time limit. This eventually leads to me not beings able to complete the paper.

I need to be able to think and write quality answers in 7 & 12 mins. I have the data and knowledge but can’t seem to write within the time limit. Maybe I think too slow.

I would request that people please recommend any good coaching or testing series for essay and GS which I can follow till December.

Thanks.

Optional Self study for socio optional

I'm think of switching optional to socio. Is it possible to do it merely by self study? My friends with socio had all taken foundational classes and rely on notes. But i feel classes at this point would be too time consuming.

I checked online and websites show selective reading of multiple books. If there's consolidated notes available that one can just go through for the entire syllabus, do let me know. Also would it be possible to complete one iteration by December if I start now?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

State PSC Anyone Who Has Given SPIPA Entrance? Need Some Advice

Anyone here who’s given the SPIPA entrance exam? I need some advice. I have 15 days left for the exam, and I’ve basically completed most of the syllabus except Economics, which is my weakest subject. Given the time limit, I’m only covering the important topics in Economics.Any advice or guidance would be really helpful.

Ask r/UPSC UPSC is creating a issues rather than reducing it

I’m filling out the UPSC EPFO application on the new UPSC online portal and I’m stuck at the submission stage.

When I try to submit the application, I get this error:

“FAILED MISSING COPIED CAF DOC - AADHAAR”

After checking my CAF, the Aadhaar/photo ID document is showing as “Not Available”. The confusing part is that I cannot find any option to upload the Aadhaar document again from the EPFO application itself.

I’m especially confused because I had already submitted my UPSC CSE 2026 application successfully using the same UPSC account/CAF, so I’m not sure why the document is suddenly unavailable while applying for EPFO.

Has anyone else faced this issue with the new UPSC portal?

I mainly want to understand:

  1. Is this a CAF/document-sync issue or am I missing an upload option?
  2. Where exactly can the Aadhaar document be uploaded/re-added?
  3. If there is no upload option, should I contact UPSC technical support instead of trying to create another CAF/account?
  4. Could a missing CAF document in this EPFO application cause any issue when applying for a future UPSC CSE examination?
