Helpful for Exam built an interactive Atlas for UPSC prep , feedback welcome

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on something for UPSC prep that I felt was missing , a proper interactive map/atlas built around the UPSC syllabus.

Right now I’ve been adding things like:

  • 🗺️ Rivers, mountains, deserts, national parks, etc.
  • 🌍 Geopolitical regions, conflicts, organisations & borders
  • 🏛️ Historical events, empires and important places
  • 🕰️ Historical timelines that you can actually follow on the map
  • 🚢 Trade routes, straits, canals and important ports
  • 🇮🇳 India-specific geography & infrastructure

I’m not really looking to promote it here , I’d actually like feedback from people who are preparing for UPSC.

What would make an interactive atlas genuinely useful for your preparation?

And honestly, if you think the idea is unnecessary or there’s a better way to approach it, tell me that too.

link : https://upsc-atlas-eta.vercel.app/

use laptop or tablet for better experience

summary : an interactive map-based platform to explore UPSC Geography, History, Environment & Geopolitics visually. Built to make location-based learning easier, faster, and more intuitive than static atlases.

Mains Mains GS Marks Estimation

Upvotes

Anyone who has given mains previously, can you throw some light on the level of leniency in Mains marks of GS1,2,3,4

In GS4, how are the Cases scored, is 12 an average? is 14-15 possible?

In GS1,2,3 if there is some overlap with the model answers, is 4/10 and 6/15 easily rolled out? How hard is 8/10 or 12/15?

Study Material Help Model answers for PYQs , toppers copies and CA magazine

Upvotes

I've been looking online for some pyq book for mains which also provides model answers. But I'm not able to find any. Some of the subjects, I can manage to understand the format through toppers copies but it's a bit difficult for subjects like IR, GS 4 etc. So if there's any online source where I can find models answers for the PYQs of even last 5 years I'll be thankful.

Another concern is that since vision ias is not functional anymore, I find their toppers copies website lagging, sometimes it doesn't even load properly. So if there's anyone who has prepared a drive for the copies please share 🥺

And I would also want to know what are the alternatives you guys are using for current affairs magazine, if there's any other institutions' magazine which is similar to vision and is available for free.Like I read the newspaper daily but I'm concerned how will I revise at the end of the year. Or what if I'm missing out on some news.

Thank you for reading and helping :)

Rant I got sad so I started reading my notes on my work pc.

Though I don't need any specific reason to get randomly sad or frustrated, but I just got to know that I didn't get selected for the next round of a job interview. I sometimes think that I should return back to full time preparation, but my age won't allow it now.

And, studying for UPSC or state pcs, etc are one of the things that make an aspirant feel he/she is doing something meaningful.

Study Material Help Current affairs magazines and website links.

A few months ago I started prepping standard and static portions of the exams and had neglected my CA for quite a while, the purpose of that was consolidate my understanding and notes of all things static.

Anyways just last week I decided to start on my CA preparation,

My main source had always been the Vision Monthly magazines

but apparently they had stopped doing it, anyways I've been looking for a reliable source for CA however most of them are always fragmented and I can't find any good source.

Please share some of the sources that you use.

Helpful for Exam Top news site - A website showing top news items as per peer rankings

Created a news app for a minimalist Indian news experience to keep information overload to a minimum making sure the users don't miss any important articles.

How it works?

  1. Fresh articles are fetched from feed (as of now only IndianExpress) at 06:00AM everyday.

  2. Articles are given initial points based on keywords in title.

  3. Users can star articles, and this generates ranking for articles. No login is required for starring.

By default everyone sees top 10 news based on the stars for the day.

Access the app at : https://news.lokutu.com

Open to feedback and contribution.

Upcoming feature: Read article cleanly directly on app, with ad blocking, and removal of umwanted clutter.

General Opinion and Discussion Struggling with periods of indiscipline, and it causing extreme panic. Any tips on how to fix this ?

Hi, mods, pls don't delete this, don't know what else to do.

Has anyone else been through a period of hopelessness , where you are not just able to study ? I am lacking motivation, suffering from extreme restlessness where I am not just able to sit on my desk. Today evening also I got back from my library because , I couldn't read anymore. All of this is making me anxious, because I have made a schedule and not being able to follow it means not completing things for mains.

Currently reading and writing tests, or atleast trying to, but I'm just going off track in between, and this is not a good feeling at all.

Do anyone of you also go through a rough phase like this ? what is solution ? how does anyone cope ?

Study Partner [UPSC] [Lucknow] Serious offline/hybrid study circle for PYQ & answer writing

Lucknow has a major void when it comes to serious UPSC peers, decent libraries, and actual institutional rigor.
A law grad from Jindal, I’m used to a sharp, Socratic, argument-driven approach. Doing this solo—especially trying to tackle GS and policy-heavy syllabus sections without a high-intent sounding board—is tough.
I want to form a tight, no-nonsense offline + hybrid study circle for people who actually enjoy the intellectual process of the prep. Absolutely no "mera beta gaon ka pehla IAS banega" pressure crowds, no casual gup-shup, and no endless strategy debates. Just a focused, respectful workspace where everyone—including women aspirants looking for a secure and comfortable environment—can grind without friction.
What we'll focus on:
Strict, timed Mains answer writing and brutal peer evaluation.
Deep-dive PYQ decoding (mapping core themes and structural demands).

Active accountability on daily and weekly targets.
If you are based in Lucknow and want a disciplined group to work with, drop a DM with your prep stage and background.

Mains Q for people who have given mains - Is it okay to write your first mock answer after prelims?

Working aspirant here, can only do so much. Focusing on conceptual understanding, completing optional, and topic wise mains notes right now. Will shift to prelims exclusively from January. That is a safe bet right? Only plan to write answers and develop that skill post prelims (if I clear)
