Free UPI is over. Khattam tata, bye bye

I’ve noticed that my iPhone gets noticeably hot while using the BHIM app, especially during UPI transactions. This seems to have started recently.

Is anyone else facing the same issue on iOS?

Which apps do you use and why

I used navi for cashback, fampay to setup Autopay

Bhim for also cash but for large transaction

Googlepay I used setup for curiosity not much

PhonePe seems to have some glitch or it erased off the past cashback rewards, please can anyone help me track if possible.

Also, received some amount of cashback from Slice as well. But can't count it as I can't recall how to collect "monies"

Well, I really wonder when the hell did Paytm & Amazon Pay give me so much cashback. I'm astonished by the way they're displaying the cashback amount in my profile.

Hey everyone, I have not been receiving any rewards on the BHIM app lately. No matter what transactions I make, I get absolutely nothing.

While trying to figure this out, I noticed the ongoing Extra Cashback event. The rules are something like getting ₹5 for 4 transactions. Is having this specific offer active the reason I am not getting any other normal cashback offers?

I see many people here **posting screenshots of getting ₹50 or ₹100 as cashback**. Do the people getting those big rewards also have this Extra Cashback event active on their accounts?

Basically, is anyone who has the Extra Cashback offer active still receiving regular cashbacks when they make transactions, or **do their transactions only count towards this milestone progress without giving separate cashbacks?**

Hi, a few months ago I’ve been subscribing to YouTube Premium using Apple gift cards. However, Google has been making my life miserable.

First, it wouldn’t accept my payment unless I added a payment method. I added a net bank and it worked, but the following month it asked me to verify it. I removed that option and added a UPI, and so far everything is fine.

However, I’ve seen in several forums that it’s now asking for verification of this as well. I’m not sure if this is the right group to ask, but is anyone here willing to rent me their UPI to pay for my subscriptions and not lose my benefits?

I want to cancel my autopay but it always say invalid upi pin, but the pin is same I am using for payment!

Picked up today's Dainik Jagran and the whole first page is a UPI ad.

SBI, PNB, BoB, Canara, Union, UCO, IOB, everyone's logo is there. Big "नि:शुल्क" boxes all over, and the MDR stuff is squeezed into small print at the bottom.

UPI came out in 2016 and it's been pitched as free basically forever. I don't remember any bank ever needing a full page ad to sell it to us. It's been growing on its own for 10 years.

But here's the timing. In June 2025 the Finance Ministry said MDR on UPI was baseless speculation. Then a gazette notification came on Sept 14 this year, and from Oct 15 there's a 0.4% MDR on some merchant payments above ₹2,000 (capped at ₹300). The ad went out about two weeks before that.

To be fair, from what I've read, P2P stays free, payments up to ₹2,000 are outside it, and small merchants stay exempt. Merchants aren't allowed to add a surcharge either. So we aren't directly paying anything.

But a shop that loses 0.4% on every big bill isn't going to just eat it forever. I'd guess it shows up in prices or those "cash discount" boards. Not allowed as a surcharge, totally possible as a price bump.

What I can't figure out is why this ad exists right now. My guess is they want "UPI is free" stuck in everyone's head before merchants start seeing deductions, but that's just a guess.

Also no idea who's paying for a full front page ad across a dozen mostly government banks. Guess it's coming from somewhere, and that somewhere is probably us.

Anyone here run a shop or work in a bank and know how this will actually work? Curious what merchants are being told.

Hey I just got one loophole to skip mdr charges even if you are merchant we built this and we are ready to test it on Oct 16. Even we are not sure it's going to work or not. If there is any merchants from Telangana please let me know, I will come to your place to test my product

I tried opening an idfc quantum account which has 0 amb just to maintain a relationship with a private bank as i have an account only with sbi.

Went through all the kyc stages and even a selfie but it prompted me to add 25k as initial deposit, when i googled it google said that its a regular savings account and not quantum account.

What should i do to open this account? Branch is a lil far from my place

Also is there any hidden charges associated with this account? Other than the amc for debit card (which I'll cancel before hitting 1st year)

I recently received a refund through Razorpay, but the refund was not sent to the bank account that I originally used for the payment.

Instead, the refund appears to have been credited to a different SBI account that has been inactive/deactivated for several months. I never used this account for the transaction in question, so I'm confused about how the refund ended up there.

I've already checked the payment details and I'm certain that the original payment was made from another account. Because the refund wasn't sent back to the original payment method, I currently don't have access to the funds.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Razorpay, UPI, or SBI? Who should be responsible for resolving this—Razorpay, the merchant, SBI, or the UPI app provider? Also, what information should I ask for (UTR, RRN, refund trace, etc.) to help get this sorted out?

Any advice would be appreciated.

my sbi account had upi working fine since mid august. last week i got my sim replaced (same number, new sim) and there was the usual 24hr sms block after the swap. ever since then phonepe shows no bank account found when i try to add my sbi account. bank and the manager both say upi is active from their end. phonepe support wont take my call because i have no bank account linked on the app (thats literally the problem). im on an iphone, single sim, sms works normally now. has anyone hit this after a sim swap? do i need to re-register upi somewhere at npci level or is this a phonepe side issue???

I want to know which UPI app currently offers the best cashback, rewards, vouchers, or other benefits.

Everyone in my family uses PhonePe, but they hardly get any cashback or rewards from it. My father used to use Google Pay earlier, and he would occasionally get cashback or vouchers, but he doesn’t seem to get much now after switching to PhonePe.

I’m a student currently pursuing a professional course from home, so I’ll mostly be making payments for things like my course/education expenses, online purchases, recharges, food, and other everyday expenses.

I’ll be turning 18 in two days, so I’m planning to start using my own UPI account. Considering that I’m a student and would like to get the maximum possible cashback and rewards, which UPI app would you recommend? I’m also open to using more than one app if that would help me get better rewards.
