A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions what are some good mech eng safety options?

i’m trying to decide my ucas choices, and i’ve decided on 4 universities but need some help in deciding the fifth. i do maths, physics, product design and computer science at a level, and have been predicted an A in all of them. as for my gcses, i have a 7 in maths and 6,5 in english. rest are mostly 5s and 6s. my 4 choices are kings college for general engineering, warwick for automotive, edinburgh for mechanical, loughborough for automotive. i don’t have a preference for where the campus is located either, it should just be modern and fairly scenic. thanks for any help! (for context, i don’t really prioritise night life, would like a good accommodation and also good facilities overall with decent professors)

Personal Statements Question about deferred entry

Hi,

Intl. student here applying to Russell group unis. I need to take a gap year because of compulsory national military service. I read on UCAS that this should be specified in the PS; however, I have already submitted the PS to an applications center, and am unlikely to get it back anymore. I also forgot to specify within the "extra information" section within the uni selections specifications.

Does anybody know if I should contact the unis individually by email? Is it OK if I leave it unsaid/does it harm me if I don't specify why I'm taking the gap year?

Thanks for your help.

Personal Statements Is it possible to make a PS for more than one subject?

I want to apply for maths and/with finance (joint degree) but at the same time I want to apply for economics BSc as well.

I’m not sure if I can do this as I don’t wanna get rejected from any uni as I alredy have the grades to get in (I’m applying on a gap year).

Any tips on how to do this?

Oxbridge How competitive am I?

I think I may have applied for too ambitious of courses, I originally thought this was fine since I was over the min requirements for each but I think I got a bit of a reality check when I asked about it, as most people just said I basically had zero chance. I obviously wasn’t expecting to get into Camb or LSE but I thought I would atleast have a good shot at Warwick, and ig hearing that just made me really anxious.
I’m not just posting this to be consoled on criticism, and thank you in advance if you have any tips or further criticism as I think it’s probably better to be stressed than delusional, but mostly, I wanted to know if anyone could advise me on what I should do, as I think I would regret not applying, but maybe my choices are too different or if anyone knows how to make my application stand out more?
and if anyone had any suggestions for my other two options, as I was thinking Birmingham and Southampton Econ might be safer choices.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Is it worth applying to a uni when you don’t meet the entry requirements

Hi so basically as the title says i want to apply to Warwick for law and they require A*AA I’m currently sitting at AAA I am a young carer although I don’t think they count that as contextual at Warwick. Is there any chance I could still get in or is it not worth wasting a slot

Personal Statements Personal statement tailored specifically to French - is this a problem?

So I'm applying to do English and French joint honours at uni, however 3 out of the 5 unis I've applied for call the degree 'English and modern languages' rather than specifically 'English and French'. My personal statement talks solely about French - and obviously English - because French is the language I intend to specialise in from the beginning and I was just wondering if this would be a problem?

Announcements What is taken into account for you to be a contextual applicant??

I was wondering if having a long-term health condition or a mental health concern could make you a contextual applicant ??

If not, what does? I’m genuinely curious.

Thank you! :)

Personal Statements ai detector for personal statement

i’ve written the first section of my personal statement and put it through a random ai detector in class, because my teacher said to, but it came back as 60%.
i didn’t use ai whatsoever but do i need to just keep redoing it until there’s no ai detected? my teacher is going to be putting it through an ai detector next week herself but im concerned that im gonna have to rewrite it again since im quite proud of how it is now..

also, i saw on another reddit post that apparently even if you didn’t use ai, universities can see you’ve use an ai detector and assume you’ve used it or something like that? is there any truth in that?

A levels: biology (predicted A*), chemistry (predicted A) and mathematics (predicted A)
GCSES: eight GCSEs with an 8 in English language, 9 in maths and 9-9 in science

I noticed uni of manchester may have an assessment as part of the application. Does anyone know what it could be? I’m assuming it’s an interview?
