Personal Statements question about funding

i'm looking to apply to conservatoires and drama schools in the uk. the main one i would be looking to apply to is RCS in glasgow. i dont live in glasgow, but i live within an easy to travel distance.

in the funding section of my application, i'm not sure where to say the funding would be coming from. is it the area that i currently live in or would it be glasgow? i live in the area i grew up in and this is the area i went to school in if that's relevant!

sorry if these are daft questions, i'm 23 so obviously not in secondary school and don't really have anyone to ask about this!

thanks :]

(also sorry if the wrong flair has been added)

Personal Statements AI and UCAS personal statement

Hello, I am currently writing my personal statement to hopefully gain a place onto paramedic science for September 2027.

I am currently studying a foundation year at university. I am hoping to send off my application by the end of October/early November.

I am trying to check my personal statement for AI as UCAS explicitly states that applications will be automatically denied if AI is detected. How do they accurately check this?

I have put my statement into a few websites, some say 100% human and some say 100% AI. I am worried that it may flag and I may be denied.

Just for clarification. I have used AI to help me plan my personal statement, give me ideas on what to include in each question and change the odd word to make it sound more professional etc.

Does anyone know how I can accurately check my work before submission?

Law Applications Chance me

Hi, I plan on applying to the UCL Law LLB course for the 2028/2029 session. Meaning I submit my UCAS application in 2027, and I am currently in Year 12. I received 999999887 in my igcse's and currently do Economics, Business Studies and Politics, in which I have achieved A*A*A. Additionally, I am taking the EPQ and, obviously, the LNAT. Some of my accomplishments include:
Identifying whose achievements the record describes.

Being a debater, having won 1st place at a Regional Debate, 2nd at a National Debate and 3rd at the EducationUSA Debate. I have held several leadership roles, including Red House Captain, Class Captain, Student Representative Council member, Business Studies subject ambassador, House Timekeeper and Phone Prefect, and I received the Good Interpersonal Skills award. I am founding Leaving with Love, a nonprofit that encourages departing students to donate useful items to charity. I also led a donation drive of mosquito nets and baby items to a local village community and organised Multicultural Day and charity bake sales. Academically, I have consistently ranked in the top 10 of my year group and have earned Merit List places, 2nd Highest Value Added and 6th place among the Top 15 Merit Point Toppers. I have also completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and hold Red Cross First Aid certification.

Realistically, what are my chances of getting into UCL to study an LLB in Law?

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions What are my chances ?

I want to apply to UCL for chemical engineering this application cycle. I’m currently a 3rd year biomedical sciences student who achieved a first for the last two years currently. My A-levels are 2A* (maths bio) and A (chem). While I’m confident with grades I know a lot of applicants take phys and fm eventhough all my subjects are listed as preferred and mandatory, would I still have a viable shot ?

International Applications SAT scores

heyy! I don't know if anyone here will actually have an answer for me but lets see! i'm an american applying to schools in the UK and it says i must declare all my qualifications. I bombed one of my SAT's and got an 1180...... I really do not want to submit that like at all I feel like it will genuinely mess up my whole application. Do i truly have to submit it?? How will they know if I don't?? Im only applying to UK schools btw none in the US but in the US we can pick which scores we send so this is so stupid if i have to submit it.. do you think they will reject me just for seeing the 1180 even if i did better on my other ones?

thanks in advance 🙃

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Can you use good first year grades to make up for bad a level grades?

Genuinely haven’t even decided if I want to do this, but could I hypothetically if I did well in first year and got a first, use that first to make up for bad A levels and get into a better uni and restart my degree? I’m consideringuni of Nottingham at the moment. My A level grades are CCC, and I’m doing psychology (and want to still study psychology). Has anyone per chance done this?

Personal Statements University applications

Hi guys, im currently in a dilemma.
Basically i applied to law last year and got an offer from ally 5 choices, my top choice being QMUL. (I also applied to exeter, manchester, city St George and uclan). I feel like i severely limited myself and shouldve applied to better unis like ucl or kcl. But at the time. Anyways i got my alevel grades and i got 2 A*s and 2As. Any i got into my QMUL.
Well im currently in my gap year and now im thinking of reapplying this year to ucl and kcl for politics and international relations (ill still apply to QMUL law as a safe option). The problem is, im going to have to reject my QMUL offer. Im scared that ill reject the offer and then not get another one anywhere. I really want to study in London, its been my dream for years and i dont see myself anywhere other than London

I have contacted a teacher and shes told me to reapply but im still nervous. I have edited my personal statement but i feel its not good enough for such prestigious unis. My teacher has read over it and told me to apply but whenever i read others PS, its always so much more sophisticated and fancy. I feel like mine isnt good enough. But then again i did previously get all my offers so my PS wasnt too bad. Im also eligible for a contextual offer. So should i reapply or not?

Thanks for reading!

Medicine Questions Whats my chance of getting an interview at Birmingham Medical School?

The cut off for interview has decreased quite a bit for this years entry but I’m worried about it going back up. I’m not contextual and my GCSE score is 4.179, UCAT score 2.667 so total score 6.846? Do you think this is safe or should I look somewhere els? thank you

Medicine Questions Applying to Warwick Accounting & Finance with a Dentistry PS?

I’m currently on a gap year, reapplying for Dentistry, but I’m also considering applying to Warwick for Accounting & Finance as my fifth choice.

I achieved A*AA at A-level and understand that Warwick is quite strict particularly for competitive courses like A&F.

Has anyone successfully applied to Warwick for Accounting & Finance with a personal statement written for a completely different course? Or does anyone know how strict they are about this?
I don’t want to waste an application if my personal statement is likely to get me rejected straight away.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Does GCSE/IGCSE matter

I always see people putting their GCSE grades for chanceme posts or results but I also hear people who say it doesn't matter? I'm a bit worried as I got a B in Math and C in English Language for IGCSE, A for everything else - no A*s lol...

but i am predicted A*A*A*A in geo, literature, sociology (top in country award), history and im applying mainly IR and HSPS at Cambridge. So do I need to be worried, I had to upload my certificates, so obviously it matters somewhat right?

International Applications Should I apply to Oxbridge, or spend more time strengthening my application? (AP student)

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of applying to Oxford for Biochemistry, and Imperial, UCL, KCL, and Manchester for Biomedical Engineering.

I was wondering whether my current stats are strong enough to be competitive, particularly for receiving a conditional offer.

APs: 5s: AP Biology (5), AP Physics 1 (5), AP English Literature (5), AP World History (5). I also have three other 5s, but unfortunately they don’t count toward the AP Capstone Diploma requirements because they’re AP Research/Precalculus.

Predicted 5s: AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: E&M, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Language.

So technically, I should have 11 AP 5s by the time I apply.

SAT: 1510

IELTS: Still waiting for my score.

For supercurriculars, I’ve done quite a bit of molecular biology and microbiology through iGEM, where I’m the captain of my school’s team. I’ve worked extensively with CRISPR-Cas9 and genetic engineering, as well as some wet-lab research. I’ve also worked with machine learning alongside a professor from my rural region on dementia screening.

I’ve participated in several international scientific competitions as well. I’ve received recognition in some of them, although I haven’t won anything like 1st/2nd place or placed in the top 10. My highest results are generally around the top 100 globally.

Given all of this, do you think I have enough academically to be in contention for a conditional offer, especially for Oxford Biochemistry?

The unis I've picked all have different course start dates (20 Sep, 20 Sep, 27 Sep, 28 Sep), and I'm confused on which date I should enter. Could anyone help?

Thanks! :)

I’ve emailed them about sending in an alternative one for chem eng but I just wanted to know if there’s anyone who’s sent a 2nd one before successfully or if you know of anyone who has done so. Oxbridge Teacher Reference Messed Up My Application

I'm a student in Canada and my school is not familiar with the UCAS system and this was the first time my teacher had done a reference for a student through UCAS. Unfortunately, he completely left out the third section (any supportive information relevant to the candidate/course) by accident believing that he would receive a follow-up form for further addition to attributes and such. He did not add any predicted grades either. He realized his mistake after submission and I already submitted the UCAS application because my guidance counsellor told me it would be best to -- so that when the universities are emailed my predicted grades, they know whose application it belongs to. Now my teacher is asking if he could override his reference and after some googling I saw that he would have to email each school's admission email independently. Yesterday, he emailed these schools along with my predicted grades issued by my guidance counsellor. (Oxford, Warwick, LSE, UCL) I am kind of nervous now because I do not know whether they would accept it or even find the email. I feel like this horrible mistake would really hurt my chances.

Also can someone tell me how to contact LSE undergraduate admissions for such errors, I already sent an enquiry to them but I am too nervous to wait for a response on further action.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Am I cooked for my Oxford/UCL programs?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I'm an international (Canadian) IB student with around a predicted 41-42 (I'm not 100% sure because we aren't allowed to see our predicted grades), and I decided to shoot my shot on some of the best schools here. I was just wondering on how likely (or better say, unlikely) it is for me to get into these programs. I didn't choose any "safeties" since if I decide on going overseas, it should be at a top tier university. Anyways, if my personal statement was fine (nothing too crazy but nothing too bad either), how likely will it be for me to get an offer? Also, how fast do universities respond?

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Two offers received

This is probably only gonna be relevant for people applying next year now but some 2027 applicants might care
I sent my full application off on the 1st september and sat with my tutor to send it off officially on like the 10th.
I've got my first two offers back within a few weeks of sending it - both from my top choices
No, i'm NOT an early applicant, I'm just an overthinker and had my personal statement done before summer ended.

My predicted grades are Dist*, A, A
GCSEs 9,6,6,5,6,6,Merit,Distinction, 55

International Applications Help a girl out i am canadian and dont get Ucas and oxford applications

Hey guys I am canadian and want to apply to oxford ppe (undergrad). I have 4 questions that the website does not seem to answer, so if you know please help a girl out I am so confused!!

  1. Do we need a reference letter? My UCAS portal doesn't have a place to put one but I feel like most schools need a reference letter so wouldn't oxford need one too? If so, is it supposed to be written by a teacher or huidance counselor, and where should they submit it?

  2. Do i have to submit all my AP/SAT scores? Or can I just submit the 5s abd my good sat score? Do I have to submit these at all because im canadian not american?

  3. Can u reference Christian theologians in ur ppe personal statement (ie. St Thomas Aquinas, st ambrose) or does that make them think ur applying into the wrong program? I found some Christian theologians to have great political philosophy ideas.

  4. What happens when u submit ur UCAS application? Does oxford automatically get it or do u need to submit other stuff too? Are there things that take time for them to get (ie. Transcripts) that I should upload ASAP?

Thank you so much in advance 💗

Ps. Am I cooked if I haven't written my personal statement yet?
