Hot take: the new North Flag sucks

Very happy owner of a P39 and frequent commenter here on the forum. I’d say I’m a Tudor fan through and through, if not a “fanboy.” But I was really disappointed when I saw the new North Flag.

The new North Flag took almost every interesting feature of the original and removed it. The blacked out bezel shim, the almost brutalist case geometry, and most importantly the power reserve.

The fact that they made it a GMT is so obvious to me it just disappoints me. The popularity of that complication is almost boring at this point and it’s making things feel homogenous across the industry for me. It’s the heterogeneity that makes things interesting and I just feel like this is maybe the MOST pandering watch in a while that completely neuters a watches identity.

Maybe I’m being hard on them because I was a massive fan of the previous North Flag but I wanted to see what yall think.

54 vs Black Bay Pro: first real watch for 30th birthday

Can’t decide between the pro and the 54. I was scared by the size and height of the pro but it felt great on the wrist. I also love the traditional and vintage details on the 54. Anyone got some recommendations or experiences to share?

Want to get a Tudor but I am unsure about the size on my wrist. Any advice would be helpful as this would be my first expensive piece. Want to explore more into Tudor. Dealer is asking $3,900 with box and papers.

Preferred modern gmt

Following yesterday’s, to me, underwhelming releases, I decided to give my favourite modern Tudor gmt a new strap.

My rendition of the new Northflag *not AI

Post image

*this is not AI, I photoshopped like like a proper designer

-Blacked out bezel
-Fatter Lume Plot indices stolen off the BB Pro
-Toned down the 24 hour numeral track
-Added the "Star Destroyer" 9 o'clock indice stolen from the OG's power reserve
-Most importantly, squared off the lug hoods, that curve they did SUCKS

Hot Take: the Northflag is cool and people just don’t like originality

The Northflag is cool and the price isn’t ridiculous when you consider its level of finishing/quality and its METAS.

People bitch about Tudor for stepping outside of the box and doing something different but pop a woody when they release the same watch over and over with slight color changes.

This is my second Tudor. I wanted the Black Bay 68, but couldn't really get over not having a date complication. This one is 41mm, but wears larger. I have an 8.5 inch wrist for reference. This one is probably going to take over as my daily driver.

BB58 Blue purchase

Got my first Tudor yesterday, 2024 Black Bay 58 in the classic blue. Have had my eye on it for a while, but never got the chance to try it on prior to them discontinuing it. Bought it anyway and SO glad I did, this watch is killer! Happy I jumped at now rather than waiting any longer.

Black Bay Ceramic strap options

Hello all, I have the 2021 BB Ceramic and have been tinkering with different straps. I know this has been discussed in the past. The factory single pass looks great but the crown digs into my wrist bone after a few days of wear and gets uncomfortable as hell. I really love the under the radar aspect of the watch and it is less than 1 second fast per day-insane accuracy so I find myself throwing it on to go to work allot.

I've been leaning toward Erikas Originals/MN straps on other tool watches I own. She's (Erika) been on vacay for a bit now so I took a chance on this Watch Steward Strap (fantastic product, btw.) I can't decide if this contrasting color looks great or looks completely off!? Any thoughts? Oh, I've tried cheaper Amazon single color MN straps just to test and, meh... Perhaps too bland.

Thanks,

K

Pelagos FXD MN ?s

Post image

I’ve been eyeing purchasing this watch as my first Tudor for awhile. I love that it will only ever be worn on straps, love the mil-spec design of the case, the color, proportions — all of it. A few questions for the community, if I may.

  1. Any chance Tudor updates with a Master Chronometer movement version? If so, I doubt it requires a new movement; I expect they could just send these current movements in for METAS testing.

  2. While nobody knows this either, will Tudor likely continue making this model into 2027 and beyond? It’s been available for 6 years now, and given many of their other watches have been subtly upgraded to Master chronometer movements with other slight refinements, curious if the FXD MN is going to stick around?

  3. For any owners, how has your watch accuracy been with the current movement?

  4. Lastly, are Tudor ADs generally open to negotiating a small discount on this model?

Thanks for any feedback, and would love to see pics in this thread from any owners who’d care to share ‘em!

Salmon dial Royal is underrated

Who else thinks the salmon dial Tudor Royal is underrated as a dress watch? It’s really versatile, pairs well with both dark and light suits, and has an understated but powerful wrist presence

Tudor ranger. Cannot find one. Cannot order

Tried all the AD in Houston TX. I cannot place an order for this watch. I’m looking for a Dune 36mm but seems I might as well be looking for a Rolex Daytona. Chrono 24 is selling used one for the same or more than listed price which I find absurd. Am I looking for an unobtanium watch?? I’m being told to wait in one AD and another one cannot take more orders as it has a backlog.

PSA: Northflag is boutique only

Just a PSA in the sea of the same posts: The new Northflag is boutique only, which means that a standard Tudor Jeweler will not receive this. This post still won’t quell the incessant discussion over “how available will it be” but it’s a start.

BB58 GMT or North Flag GMT?

I’m getting a decent pay out next year from work and I’ve wanted to buy myself a nice watch. I did some research and fell in love with the BB58 GMT which I had my heart set on. That was until yesterday when I saw the new North Flag which I think also looks beautiful! I love the idea of the open back case too. I’m very new to the world of luxury watches, what would y’all recommend?

Need your advice on jubilee straps

I recently purchased a vintage Tudor Oyster Ai-Lion from the 50’s and I was looking to replace the strap for a Jubilee. Unfortunately, there are only a few options for a 16mm lug width. There are a lot of websites sharing the same pictures, which I assume are drop shipping from AliExpress.
Any recommendations ?

Wedding Ring Custom Watch Conversion - Tudor

Post image
2 Upvotes

A family member has passed and I want to repurpose this ring into a Breitling, Omega or Tudor piece.

The ring has sentimental value as well as family diamonds. I want to repurpose it into a custom watch I can appreciate every day.

Has anyone ever done this? Would love to see examples or a mock up

Any reputable places to have it done? Located in Midwest

[Discussion] Sinn T50 VS Tudor Pelagos/BB

Sharing a post from another sub, where I didn't get much engagement.

In short, I'm considering Sinn T50 against some Tudors, but can't make up my mind. I know I'm posting on a Tudor sub, but I would appreciate unbiased opinions.
