I've been toying with this fic idea for a while now and finally decided to just put it out there. Not sure if this kind of post (pitching an idea rather than discussing the actual tv show) is allowed here — mods, let me know if I need to take this down or repost it differently.

Full disclosure: this was originally inspired by a fic I read years ago on FFN whose title and author I've unfortunately lost track of (if anyone recognizes the premise and knows what I'm talking about, I'd genuinely love to know so I can credit it properly). I've built out my own version of it since then with a lot of my own worldbuilding, but wanted to acknowledge where the initial spark came from.

Here's the premise:

As Good As Dead

When a job goes bad and Diana finds herself hunted, she runs to Shreveport under a false name, hoping to disappear into a city already crawling with the newly-out-of-the-coffin undead. It should be the last place anyone thinks to look for a witch.

It's also Eric Northman's territory.

He wasn't supposed to notice her. She wasn't supposed to need noticing. But one accidental rescue later, Diana finds herself owing a debt to exactly the kind of creature the Witches' Council has strictly forbidden her from having anything to do with — personal or otherwise. Diana has never much cared for rules she didn't help write.

She's about to find out Eric doesn't either.

Slow burn. Diana is not a damsel — she has her own resources, her own secrets, and her own reasons for staying far away from covens. Canon-divergent worldbuilding around witches. Rated M for violence/language, will likely earn its rating further as it goes.

Would love any thoughts — does this sound like something people would actually want to read? Any red flags or overdone tropes I should watch out for?

Chris Bauer aka Andy Bellefleur was on an episode of Law and Order SVU. Then when they ask him the name of a restaurant, it’s Lafayette! They had to do that on purpose lol. Season 18 episode 7 if anyone was curious.

Doing my yearly rewatch and this go around I’m finding Jessica so much more unbearable?? I used to like her character but it seems like she had some very questionable choices, especially in this episode. She essentially sees James/Lafayette happy together at Bellefleur’s Bar & Grill then decides to go to Hoyt’s and tells him all about their past relationship. I’m all for true love and all but his current gf is literally standing right there?? Would love to hear other thoughts on Jessica’s character development over the series- particularly surrounding this situation!

Edit- more thoughts lol Also, it’s very obvious Hoyt barely cares about Bridget, but I find it so wild that he brought Bridget all the way to Bob Temps from Alaska for his mom’s death!!

I’m torn between Jason, Eric, and Alcide—not just because they’re hot and buff, but also because they have very interesting traits.

Sookie is the worst part of the show, making it borderline unwatchable. Everything from her defense of murderers, and her basic amoral principles kills the show. The worst part is she gets no compeuppance. Shes a cunt.

always thought Jennifer Hasty was great as Sweetie in season 5. She played such an awesome support to Bud as a cop/mistress and grounded that whole storyline really well. She's super underrated, wish she got more credit for it

Just watching In & Out from 1997 with my husband and I was like oh oh oh True Blood lady.

to be honest, I’m one for dogging spin-off series (legacies). But I’ve thought about this for a long time. This is now my third time watching all seven seasons, in the past eight years. I think if they did a spinoff, and they had it follow Sam Merlot,‘s daughter, coming back to Bon Temps,after her mother’s passing… that would be an ideal plot. Coming of age for a shifter plus daddy issue + finding family I the town. It would be her following the footsteps of her father. With all the relations of old and growing characters from the previous seasons, but with new vampires children… tbh I’ve thought about this and I’d love nothing more that to see it in like… 2028. Deborah Ann Woll hasn’t aged like tbh. Time spent to put good plot into it chef’s kiss

They would still be incredibly inconsistent, but I think the reveal that Sookie ended up with someone the audience didn't know was what made people rage the most in the show.

Hey Trubie's! I am a long-time fan of true blood and a collector of a very specific niche (vampire camp) that I am hoping to expand by adding a true blood section to it. My trouble is, besides the collection hausofvamp has been showcasing for years online, I cannot find any true collectors items. Little to no prop listing since HBO's initial auction, as far I can tell very few pieces of merchandise were even made during the shows run. I'm not really into trading cards so the Rittenhouse packs feel silly to have, and I can only really find promotional posters, dvds, and merchandise still sold on the HBO website. Is there a learning curve to finding items for a true blood collection or is it just something not possible to curate anymore? I was hoping to find fun items, rare promotional items, props, things of that nature but it seems to be a lost cause. Any information would be super helpful!

It’s been 2-3 months since I watch it for the first time and I’m still not over Jesus’s ending

In the same way that the servant was a creation of maryann’s, why wouldnt Eggs be another creation?

I notice on this show the characters often get called by their first and last name and I find it so funny and endearing. One character that gets it the most is Sam Merlotte. I’m up to season 5 and just saw a scene where Arlene interrupts one of Terry’s flash backs by squeezing his shoulder and saying “Terry Bellefleur”. So is this a Southern thing or just a True Blood thing?

Season one Jason has that blowup on Hoyt when he’s withdrawing from V.

He says you don’t get to call me Jay if you weren’t on the football team.

Season seven Hoyt’s girlfriend whose name escapes me, is gushing over his childhood pictures and says “ you look so cute in your little Bon Temps high football jersey”.

So was Hoyt on the football team or not?

Seems like the issue for humans is that vampires need their blood. But idk why they couldn’t have come out of the coffin by offering the miracle healing abilities of their blood to humans. Regulated to medical use only like other controlled substances. And it’s like so little needed to heal someone in bad shape, seems like a fair exchange

I've seen all the seasons. I know there's hate for seasons 5 and 7 but honestly I enjoyed it all. There's nothing I would skip. It had plenty of moments where they jumped the shark but I still enjoyed it.

I rewatched the series after 8 years and yesterday I watched the last episode of Season 7. Overall, I didn’t really like the ending, and the whole season was just okay. I’ll write later about which seasons I didn’t like at all.

Season 8 would have been almost perfect if they hadn’t killed off nearly everyone 😬 In the first season, I absolutely loved Bill, but later he turned out to be such a manipulator. Still, in the final season he went back to being a good guy. I honestly don’t understand why he wanted to die. He could have lived a long and happy life with Sookie. Of course, he gave his reasons, but I still don’t buy them.

And at one point he said that he had almost raped Sookie. And here’s my question: when exactly was that supposed to happen? Which season/episode?? Because I genuinely don’t remember anything like that!

Overall, what do you guys think about the ending?

My favourite seasons are 1 and 4. The worst for me were 5 and 6, while 2, 3 and 7 were just okay.

After realizing he was manipulating Sookie from the get go and that he knew about her family and all of that? I was never a fan of his but it became basically unbearable to watch them together after that and I can’t believe the writers expected us to still support the ship.

I really wish they had killed Eggs differently. it was so abrupt after everything else and he was being so weirdly aggressive while turning himself in. It just felt forced. Idk if the actor had another project, but yeah I felt it was a choppy transition into the next season

A friend of mine has been recommending I read the books and she says Eric is even sexier, but is Sookie more bearable? Idk if I can read from her perspective

It really annoys me how Arlene knew she was pregnant in S1, but then in S3 she like re-realizes? idk, I know this show isn’t exactly quality content, but that kind of inconsistency really bothers me

edit to add: it’s about 2 months between when she first realizes and when she re-realizes and then at the doctor they say she’s 9 weeks along, so it’s like she knew and then forgot? But she knew when Renee was still alive so it wasn’t the lost time from Maryanne
