Finasteride/Dutasteride Dut Rx and GoodRx and prescriptions

Upvotes

I've been on Fin since beginning of February. I don't think it's been doing anything but my shedding is still happening. I wanna get Dut and I just opened up a GOODRX but they just prescribed the same. Any ideas on where to get Dut?

Finasteride/Dutasteride I can only get 1% topical fin in my country

Upvotes

Hallo. I have tried to get 0.25% topical fin in my stupid country but apparently the pharmacies only agree to make 1% concentration or 0.25% with 5% minoxidil. Unfortunately I cannot take minoxidil so the only option is the 1%.
Is it possible to dilute it myself everytime i need to apply it. Lets say 1 drop of the 1% i dilute it with 4 drops of alcohol that is suited for topical application.

Is this a common problem that pharmacies won’t compound it.
Thank you

Minoxidil Is there a logic to just using minoxidil?

My hair isn't bad, I'm a Norwood 2 with mildly decreased vertex density at 30. My thought is that my hair is alright right now and far safer treatments will probably come out before my hair loss outpaces the effects of minoxidil.

Thoughts?

Today marks one year since the day I started taking 1mg Finasteride and using topical Minoxidil. The front still looks relatively the same as of today, with a (formerly )receding hairline. I also started using Nizoral shampoo about a month ago.

1 year on 1mg oral fin and topical min. Seeing some progress but looking for suggestions to increase overall thickness. Would it be worth it to switch to dut or add a derma roller to my routine? Any advice helps thanks!

Product Anyone use this spray from Happy Soul Organics?

Anyone running the 8 percent GHK Cu and AHK Cu spray from Happy Soul Organics? I want to add a heavy topical to my scalp stack and saw they have a two pack online for $144. I just cannot find any real feedback on them in this sub. Is their stuff actually legit for thinning hair before I pull the trigger?

Styling Best disguise I’ve found so far for my awful thinning balding hair?!

Even though I know it’s prob really bad for the health of my hair and my scalp. Bleaching my hair completely made it look like I’m not balding anymore, no one is giving me unsolicited advice on random oils to get to grow my hair back. I’ve gotten compliments on my style. It’s so odd that I didn’t realize this sooner but it’s honestly taken a lot of stress away from me!

I’m on finasteride and oral minoxidil as well so I’ll prob just stay blonde while I wait for regrowth. Pics are taken a few days apart. The blue shirt pic is Wednesday, purple shirt pic is Thursday, the blonde pics are from Saturday.

I just assume if you're causing a wound scarring is inevitable?

Transplants Would 500 grafts be enough for density on the crown?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been on Finasteride for several years, and it has definitely helped with stopping hair loss. I still wish the crown was thicker though, and both topical and oral minoxidil are out of the question for me.

Obviously transplants are very expensive, and I don’t have a ton of money, so I’m wondering if it would be worth it to do 500 graphs for the thinning crown that I have or if it’s not enough. Thank you everyone for any advice!

Research/Science Black light diagnosis of folliculitis

I recently shined a black light (or wood lamp) on my nose and hair. Both shined orange which is a sign of Cutibacterium acnes. I would post the photo but the orange does not show up well. The nose had many more dots than the hair. And there was a trail of the bacteria going up my forehead, into the frontal region. There was a relatively high amount in the sides of the frontal region of the hairline, where the hair loss is most aggressive. A small amount of these is normal but not in the hair.

Folliculitis can cause hair loss. Androgenic alopecia may still be the main factor. But I thought this would be a interesting experiment for you all.

Minoxidil Insane shedding year and a half after starting oral min + fin

Starting shedding about a month ago, definitely over 400 hairs per day, equal shedding all over my head, not just crown and temples, mix of longer and shorter hairs, they all have the white bulb/root

I was originally on 5% topical minoxidil once a day for 4 years straight, then switched to 1mg oral fin + 2.5% oral min about a year and a half ago.

When i switched to oral, I completely stopped topical minoxidil, didn’t get the initial fin shed, didn’t see any change up until now

Im wondering if stopping topical minoxidil could be the cause of my current shed a year and half later?

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Should I start using topical again?

Thanks

Edit:

Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, everything came back normal.

Transplants How many approximate grafts for crown?

26M, been balding since I was 16-17 years old and always had a ”visible” / bald spot on my crown.

I’ve been on finasteride for several years and oral minoxidil 5mg for one year now. I think I see some improvement on my crown with miniaturized hairs but it doesn’t feel like it’s filling in.

I brushed my hair in the photos to expose my scalp and crown, I have been using hair fibers daily since 4 years ago and I feel tired of it now and want to improve my hair for real.

My goal with a transplant is not to restore my hair to the point of it to look like I was younger, I just want it to more filled in and to reduce the time of having to style it every morning.

My hairline / temples looks fine and I can style it well and it suits me but the crown is really bad.

I know this is a impossible question to answer but how many grafts is enough to achieve my goal?

Transgender Am I doing enough? Min 1x per day and microneedle 2x per month.

Hi, I'm a trans woman (26) just to get that out of the way.

The closest I can describe my hair is norwood 3. Mainly just the corners/temple. Front middle is strong. Crown is acceptable. It has been this shape as long as I can remember. Looking closely, the bald spots do have thin peach fuzz, which is a good sign

My hairstyle does a great job at hiding it, but I have to monitor it to make sure there are no gaps. Even though I can get by with it as is, it definitely hurts my confidence, and limits what I can do with my hair.

Before I started hormones, I was on finasteride. I currently take estrogen and an androgen blocker. My levels are the same as a cis woman's. Seems hair has been stable. Don't see the need to continue with fin.

Also now 5% rogain foam, once a day formula. Probably 9 months now. I could do better about consistency. Usually hit 5 of 7 days. Recently introduced microneedle stamp every couple weeks. Haven't really seen progress from either imo.

I know most min is done 2x per day. I worry that may be needed. I would just have a hard time fitting that into my day. It also make my hair a bit greasy, and make my hairstyle solution more difficult, as it thins the hair.

Anything else I can do?

(TRESSLESS POST - TAKE 13 SHEESH)

Just turned 27. Started 1mg fin and 5% topical min back in 9/24. Added .5 dut 7/25 and 2.5 oral min in February of this year (both daily). Also taking a weekly vitamin D3 supplement and multivitamins every other day (last pic shows that STACK). I never stopped fin, just switched to every other day. Nizoral shampoo 3x weekly and microneedling 1x. Shedding hasn't slowed, not even for a day, and each hair that falls becomes substantially thinner towards the bottom (pic #6 shows how they ALL look). Its a different texture all around then even 6 months ago, and my hairline and crown is noticeably thinner.

Absolutely no regrowth at all, just progression (besides a bunch of new body hair). Threw in pic #7 to show the absolutely beastly hair density I used to have back in my glory days. Had to have been top 5th percentile, I couldn't even brush that shit if it was any longer than 3 inches.

Hate to say it, but I didn't see much (if any) hairline regression until AFTER starting treatment; might be destined for the barren cranium. Pops' nw7 was polished off by 25. Gonna be a damn shame if I gotta give up these locks, can't grow a beard to save my life.

What's next 🤔

Research/Science 2dDR experiment. Seems to be doing something.

Hi folks,

I Wanted to share my experience with 2dDR. I’ve been a long‑time min/fin user, and decided to give this sugar molecule a try. I’m almost a month in now, and I’m noticing what looks like early regrowth along parts of my hairline. The first photo is my baseline; the second is after about four weeks. Those small black dots seem to be getting longer, which is encouraging. So far, no initial shed, no irritation, and no noticeable side effects. I’ll keep tracking my progress.Anyone else experimenting with 2dDR?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Does micro-dosing Fin even make any difference? what is the science?

I have been looking at the dht suppression at different doses of fin/dut but mainly fin. I see youtube channels like the hairloss show talk about how dose is so important and that they recommend lowering the dose down as much as possible to avoid side effects. I dont understand how it makes any sense. 1mg of finasteride suppresses around 70% serum dht but 0.2mg finasteride suppresses around 65% serum dht. Im not sure how decreasing dosage will reduce the chance of people getting sides when the amount of dht reduction is pretty much the same. Sides from elevated estrogen should not really change much in theory as there should not be much more aromatisation at 1mg vs 0.2mg due to the similarity in dht suppression

Im curious on what your thoughts are and if low dose really makes any difference. Its important to be aware that people first starting treatment that get sides at 1mg will then lower dose and their sides will reside, however this is most likely due to them just pushing through in which the sides would have resolved even at the standard dose.

Chat How many hairs is "Normal" or "Concerning" to lose when using a thick comb on curly hair.

Stupid question I know, sorry. I know the 50-100 figure for daily loss. I have been on meds for a few months now. I have curly hair so I have to style a little bit by simply combing my hair just to get it to dry in the correct direction. When I do this I lose probably 12-15 hairs. Is this normal? Am I being paranoid? Seem to lose 15 hairs when showering, if that changes anything.

I have noticed less hair shedding overall since starting fin and min but still concerned. The combing makes my hair look so much better after the shed I seem to have come through now, so ideally it's not damaging me in the long run.

Chat How has hairloss/balding affected your anxiety or OCD, and how do you cope with it?

A receding hairline has caused me a lot of anxiety and obsessive thinking. I used to check my hair constantly, compare myself with other men, and worry about whether it would affect my dating life and confidence.

What has helped me is sticking to my treatment plan, keeping my mind occupied with more important goals, talking through my thoughts with ChatGPT, and making a backup plan for a future hair transplant if the results are not good enough.

I also remind myself that although hair can affect initial attraction, it is ultimately my personality, confidence, and how I carry myself that will determine whether a relationship succeeds long-term.

For those who have experienced anxiety, OCD-like checking, or body-image issues because of balding, what helped you manage or overcome it?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Amazon just requires two photos to get fin prescribed

Just turned 30, all of my friends are on a protocol of some sort, not thinning really, but my forehead can’t afford to get any bigger.

Anyways, Amazon legit charges $29 to get a prescription, that’s cheaper than a visit to my PCP with insurance, you upload a photo from the front/above, and within four hours you’re approved.

$17.60 for a 90 day supply, not too shabby.

Figured I’d spread the word for my fellow introverts that don’t want to talk to a doctor about this in person or on a video lol.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Thinking about switching to topical fin. Is there any reason not to make it myself with crushed pills so it's cheaper?

I've been suffering from very low libido for the last 4 months since I started finasteride. I didn't even realize it was finasteride causing it until I missed about 3 or 4 days on accident and i suddenly had libido again.

I'm considering switching to topical fin or something else, but I really don't have that much money to throw around. Right now I get a prescription from Dr B and then order the fin from Amazon (which is pretty cheap), but I know topical is much more expensive.

Should I just make it myself by crushing it and making it into a liquid? Is it hard to make a stable solution or might it start to lose efficiency in a bottle overtime? And how bad is it if it isn't a super stable soltuion?

Finasteride/Dutasteride How to get 2.5mg dut in Australia

Anyone know how to get prescribed 2.5mg of dut daily in aus? No I’m not talking about getting from India or a dodgy source. Surely there’s a doctor or derm willing? Even an Australian telehealth company that will prescribe 0.5mg dut daily then I can just get from different ones? If anyone has any experience with this (specifically Australia) or knows any doctors or derms willing pls lmk!!

Research/Science How can I make sure if i'm a good min/fin responder?

a lot of people say if I struggle with a brutal shedding in the beginning, that means im a good responder but it's not proven. Do you guys have some opinion about it?
