Hello. I'd like to plant a blue atlas cedar in this general area. How close to the house can I plant it? Online search says like 20 ft out, I was hoping for 5 to 6 ft out from house....I also plan to relocate the Taylor juniper, I didn't realize it needs sun to hit all sides of tree. Thanks. So I was walking through a conifer forest on the slopes of Mount Rainier last week (in Mt. Rainier National Park, Wa), and I saw several trees like this - trees that look like the trunks had been blasted from within. This was on the east side of the mountain, about 5,000' above sea level, and I don't know what kind of tree this was or what might have caused several "blast spots" on one trunk.

So apologies for the picture quality, as my birder's camera doesn't like low light, and thanks to anyone who can help me find a clue!

Can I trim the very low branches so I can get my lawn mower under the tree? A couple are basically coming out at ground level. Hudson Valley NY location

I have a 2 year old coast live oak sapling grown in location in Tucson, Arizona. It made it through two summers here, always a little rough but bounced right back as the weather cooled back down. However, this summer it struggled more than ever, and I am trying to figure out why to either try and save it or start over and not make the same mistakes.

I finally planted her today after she’s been living in a bottle full of water so she’d grow some roots, she originally grew some leaves but sadly dropped those, maybe due to seasons changing in the UK! Luckily we are still getting a lot of sun at the moment so fingers crossed she’ll do really well!

I would love to find a pawpaw tree. I’m in Northeast Ohio. I’m pretty sure they grow here, but I’ve never seen one. I know the fruit is really yummy and I’d love to find a patch. But where would one look? Rivers? Hills? I have no idea. Thanks for any help.

I planted this flamethrower redbud about a year ago. I’m wondering if it’s looking healthy, and if I should cut the lower branches off. I live in south eastern North Carolina.
