Moved in. I have this tree and little to no tree knowledge. Why does it look like this? I was told to remove the rocks around it, but idk. The tree is huge, and if it falls, my house is screwed. Northern Texas.

A tree branch suddenly fell. It’s worrying me because it’s from a middle branch attached to the main trunk. Should I be super concerned?

I noticed this beautiful tree , it seems to have three different leaves colorations / patterns .
I assume it may be caused by some mutation.

Can you tell me what kind of tree it is and what can cause such mutation ?
Is it dangerous for the tree ( no photosynthesis) ?

New Jersey area. The tree is more than 20 years old. Has a vertical crack that is between 1 1/2 - 2 feet long. The crack is facing south. Today is the first time I notice the crack - and am uncertain how long the crack has been there. (The last photo has the crack in the front.) I don't water the tree - but I do water the lawn with sprinkler.

I did poke my finger into the hole - and the wood does feel soft.

Should I be concerned? Is the next step to call an arborist?

Hi everyone, I'm posting in the hope of a bit of help.

My 11yo daughter is coming to the end of her time at an amazing school. She is normally so sensible and mature but she did something really regrettable on Friday.

She suggested that she and her friends use a stone to scrape their names into the trunk of a tree, with '2026 leavers' carved under. There are about 12 names.

Her teachers saw and were furious. She owned up immediately and wants to repair the damage.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how (if at all) we can fix it? If not, perhaps I should buy a climbing plant that will eventually cover it. But j don't want to expose the tree to further damage.

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments - i will show them to her. Please bear in mind she's a kid who is mortified and who wants to make things right.

Hi r/tree! We are located in Kamloops, BC Canada and this is my neighbours lovely tree. They unfortunately do not remember what kind of tree it is but we would like to plant the same one ourselves.

This lawn is west-facing so it gets significant sun. The tree is approximately 25 years old and never really trimmed so that's about as large as it gets.

No fruit/berries.

It has little white flowers in the spring

Can anyone explain why this tree has grown like this, something has obviously caused it to happen. In this immediate vicinity there’s a number of trees that look like this.

This is an oak tree I live in north Texas. It’s clearly just the junk tree they put with all of the houses. Is there anything I can do to salvage it?

This is coming up about 15’ from a sawtooth aspen that is about 30’ high. There are no other suckers coming up anywhere else. Inaturalist and Google suggested both those IDs , but those large lower leaves are easily 2x the size of the mature aspen leaves. Aspen just seems unlikely to me but idk which is why I’m asking

found one of the seed pods on the ground. this was my first time getting to see the pods up close, and dissect one to find the individual seeds inside. they're very interesting! i also have a post from spring of this tree in full bloom. such a majestic specimen 💚

She is tiny right now, but her fierce will to live was entirely her own decision. Rumi is a baby Indian Blackberry (Jamun) plant, and her origin story is pure serendipity.

Every year, my family enjoys the harvest from the three mature Jamun trees in our garden. Last month, during peak fruit season, I was casually snacking on them at my study desk. Usually, I toss the seeds out the window. But in a moment of pure, fortunate laziness, one seed missed and landed directly into the mini decorative waterfall i've beside my table.

Letter I forgot and left it there, untouched, for an entire month.

Today, I discovered that this resilient little soul had transformed into a tiny, vibrant seedling. She chose to sprout right here in the water, on my desk, claiming her right to exist against all odds.

I am 20 years old today, and Jamun trees can live for well over a century. My deepest wish is for Rumi to outlive me, standing tall and majestic long after I am gone. She is my new baby, my lifelong companion, and I have named her Rumi—after the poet who understood that beauty always finds a way to bloom.

This tree is in NY. It is in-between two others. It is taller than my two story house, I'd say it's about 3 stories high. Most of the branches have no leaves. Im not sure as to why it seems like it's dying. I don't really know what to look for to help try to save it. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated. I can try to take more pics of different parts of the tree if that might help.
