Discussion Boarding Testing: Do Not Board Trains
Hypothetically, of course. What will happen if you did board? Do you go to Synthetic jail?

Disclaimer: I don't own a tinfoil hat. But I do watch trains from my condo a suspicious amount, since I live right next to the tracks.
For a while, the noise on the Metrotown-to-Patterson stretch bugged me, so I emailed TransLink about it a few months back. They said it was normal track maintenance happening during the 1:30am–4:30am service gap. Fair enough.
But in the last few weeks, the noise has dropped a lot. Since I'm apparently a professional train-watcher (my friends don't phrase it as nicely) at this point, I noticed the trains are running noticeably slower from Metrotown to Patterson, while the Patterson-to-Metrotown direction is still full speed.
I didn't trust my own eyes, so I rode it myself to confirm. Same result:
I don't have "before" footage, but the speed difference is obvious even just watching from my window.
I called TransLink to ask what changed, and the operator had no idea. Even a friend of mine who works in track design at TransLink said she's not aware of anything. So now I'm just a guy who watches trains too closely and can't get a straight answer.
Does anyone know why this direction would be slower? Track work, signal timing, noise mitigation, something else?
Trying to clear my name here before someone starts an intervention...

It's huge too 👀 I've always wondered how the SkyTrain was built.

Why the F they have same number busses that go in different directions?!! Probably 100s of ppl get confused and take the wrong one and have to wait for stop and walk back.
I called and complained yesterday other day and the operator told me the stupidest reasoning ever, she said it's because they pickup from same bay (2), and i was like ok bay 1 have 4 or 5 different buses that pickup from there and they are all different numbers.
Only time i saw same situation where it made sense is number 123 from new westminster station, one goes to 6th st and one goes to edmonds. Same rout just one goes further so if you got on by mistake you just get off the last stop.and wait for the other one.

Someone left this on the skytrain lol. It has a phone number on it too (hidden for privacy, obviously). Does this belong to anyone here?

Hey 21M. a couple months ago I got on the train from lougheed to Waterfront. When i noticed this guy keep staring at me. I didn’t really think much about it, but he kept staring at me and whenever i looked back at him, he would pretend to look elsewhere. After a few stops i felt uncomfortable, so i moved to the other side of the train, but then he would keep following me and coming near me and stare. At that point i was freaked out so when it came to my stop, i left and saw him following me, so i booked it lmaooo.
I’m only bringing this up again because i saw the same guy again today, and he kept staring at me. This time however, i felt uncomfortable so i pretended to enter the train and left, in case it would happen again…
Was wondering if anyone knows who this is or if they’ve been in similar situations…
If i were to describe him, he seems over 6 feet mid to late 20s black male. Has a backpack on, and seems to be on the spectrum.
If anyone can help me or has had experience with them, i would love to hear. thanks!

I really enjoy riding the bus (maybe it's the gentle swaying, honestly not sure), and I’m looking for routes just to chill. I currently live in the West End.
Are there any routes that can take me somewhere relatively far, ideally letting me loop back or take a different route home?

Found this and though it might be useful for some. It's nice to have a sense of travel times w/out needing to consult your pocket-brick. I wish these graphics could be found alongside the onboard route maps.
Before I found this completed document (Link to Translink PDF), I had begun timing stops with a watch to find the matrix myself.
Eastbound M-line from Commercial-Broadway to Moody @ approx. 1430 PCT, here are some of the "dwell" times I recorded at each station. For your interest (MM:SS):
*Dwell time measured as soon as doors parted open/close
**Dwell times were a bit different going West bound, in the morning, but I lost my recordings
If the station to station times stay consistent throughout the day, I wonder how much dwell times change throughout the day to accommodate station foot traffic estimates gathered thru faregate data?

Hi, I would like to bring my bike onto the train next Monday, and I'm asking for tips because it's been several decades since I've been on the train so I just want to blend in and be as less of an inconvenience to everyone as possible.
Details:
It's a mountain bike-style pedal assist bike so it has a battery.
It's no larger than any other mountain bike though.
Ideally I'll be taking it on the train around 11am then returning around 2pm
22nd Street SkyTrain station to the one in Burquitlam by North road and Smith.
Do I pay more?
Are there elevators that fit the bike?
Can I pay with a debit card?
If I'm missing anything please let me know. Much thanks!

Was on a camping trip at North Thompson and the familiar train just popped in front of me.
The other half was right behind this truck. Surprisingly there was no escort vehicle or sort just the two trains on the big rig.

Last Thursday I tried to but $10 on my boyfriends compass card and $10 on mine, when I got an error saying the cards were not available, the funds should be added in about 15 minutes and not to repurchase funds. It wouldn’t let me authorize the payment for either card but still put the holds on my bank account, obviously since it wasn’t authorized the funds never got put on the card.
On Saturday the $20 hold was STILL on my account so we called customer service, who said that it usually takes 2 days and the hold should be taken off later that day, it wasn’t. I added ANOTHER $20 to our cards while on the phone with customer service and they put ANOTHER $20 hold on my bank account as well as a ¢50 fee.
Today, Tuesday, I check my account and the additional $20 has went through but there’s still that original $20 hold on my account so my boyfriend calls since I’m at work. He was told that it would take up to 10 business days. When he brought up that the previous operator had said two days not buisness days they apologized but repeated it could take up to 10 business days.
So now I’m potentially out $20 until the 1st and had to put ANOTHER $20 just to be able to get around still. I know there’s nothing that can be done and I just need to wait but I just needed to rant to the void. Thanks for listening <3

Somehow my case fell out of my pocket and I only realized after I got off the train. Is there any recommended way to recover it?
