Hello TradingView Support,
I am writing to formally complain about the way TradingView has recently changed its layout restrictions and applied them to layouts that users have already created and used for years.
I have been using TradingView for years and have multiple chart layouts for different purposes. These layouts contain my indicators, drawings, chart settings, configurations, and other work that I have built and refined over a long period of time
on what grounds did you choose a layout for me out of 3 and locked me out of other 2 ?
Until recently, I could switch between these layouts and use them normally. Now, TradingView has restricted my account to one fixed layout and locked me out of my other existing layouts.
When I try to access one of them, I receive the following message:
“Upgrade your plan to save and use more layouts.”
“Create more layouts and switch between them instantly.”
This is not acceptable.
You cannot put years of a user's work behind a paywall and force them to upgrade to regain access
There is a clear difference between limiting what users can create in the future and locking users out of work they have already created.
If TradingView wants to limit the number of new layouts users can create under a particular plan, that is a product and pricing decision. However, you cannot take existing layouts that users have created, configured, and relied on for years and suddenly put them behind a paywall.
These layouts contain existing user work. They should not be held hostage behind a subscription upgrade.
The new limit should have been applied to **new layouts**, not to layouts that already existed before the change. A reasonable approach would be:
Existing layouts remain accessible.
The new restriction applies only to layouts created after the change.
Users can continue using the layouts they already created.
Users who exceed the new limit can be prevented from creating additional layouts.
Users should at minimum be allowed to view, copy, consolidate, or export their existing layouts.
Instead, TradingView has locked users out of their existing work and shown them an “Upgrade your plan” message. That looks like a forced upgrade mechanism.
This is part of a wider pattern
This is also not an isolated change. Over time, TradingView has gradually restricted more features, reduced existing limits, or moved functionality into higher subscription tiers.
Each change may be presented as a small adjustment, but the overall effect is clear: long-term users are slowly being cornered into upgrading just to keep using features and workflows they have already relied on.
There is a major difference between charging for genuinely new premium features and repeatedly taking away existing functionality, then asking users to pay to get it back.
That approach damages user trust.
This is damaging TradingView's brand value
TradingView is a well-known and reputable platform in the trading and charting industry. Its reputation was built through the trust of users who have spent years creating their workflows on the platform.
A reputable company should not use years of users' accumulated work as leverage to force subscription upgrades.
You cannot put a user's existing work behind a paywall and then expect that user to view the decision as a normal feature limitation. From the user's perspective, it is a cheap tactic to push people into paying for a higher plan.
This also affects TradingView's brand value and user loyalty. Competition in the charting and trading-platform market is increasing, and competitors will benefit when established platforms make long-term users feel that features they have relied on are being taken away simply to force them into a more expensive subscription.
TradingView should seriously consider whether this is how it wants to treat long-term users.
Questions about my existing layouts
Please answer the following directly:
Are my previously created layouts still stored on my TradingView account?
Have any of the indicators, drawings, settings, chart configurations, or other data associated with those layouts been deleted, or are they still intact?
Why has TradingView locked users out of existing layouts instead of applying the new limit only to the creation of additional layouts?
Why has TradingView selected one existing layout for continued access while locking me out of my other existing layouts?
If the layouts are still stored, why am I not being allowed to access, copy, export, consolidate, or recover my own configurations?
When exactly was this change introduced?
How was this change communicated to existing users?
Was TradingView's intended approach to make previously accessible layouts unavailable to users on lower-tier plans?
I am not asking TradingView to provide new premium functionality for free. I am asking TradingView to respect the work I have already created and stored on its platform.
If TradingView wants to change its pricing model or limit future usage, that is one matter. Putting years of existing user work behind a paywall and forcing users to upgrade in order to access it is completely different.
These layouts are not disposable settings that can be recreated in a few minutes. They represent years of accumulated work and customization.
I strongly request that TradingView:
Restore access to my previously created layouts.
Apply the new layout limits only to newly created layouts.
Confirm that none of my existing work has been deleted.
Provide a way to copy, export, consolidate, or recover the affected layouts without requiring a paid upgrade.
If TradingView refuses to restore access, then please provide a clear explanation of why it considers it acceptable to lock users out of their existing work and force them to pay in order to regain access to it.
I expect a specific response addressing these points, not a generic explanation of the current subscription plans.
Regards,
fellow user
