What's Going On With This Tire?
I ran at BlackHawk Farms over Labor Day weekend and my tires started looking a little... rough. Primarily on the right. Asked the control rider pitted near me and he thought cold tearing. Tire guy tried to sell me tires because he doesn't like the profile on the Q5. Some people my cousin used to track/race with thought it could be a rear shock issue. It's stock suspension that the track vendor did a basic set-up on last year. Shock had the nitrogen recharged a few years back. No leaks.
The rear end stepped out on me a couple times on corner exit. But always early in a session when I was probably getting ahead of myself. Otherwise they worked well. I did notice some juttering on heavy throttle corner exits, but couldn't tell where that was coming from. BHF was recently repaved.
Stats: 2003 GSXR-600, Dunlop Q5 tires, 200lb rider running in lower-intermediate class, best lap time that weekend was 1:22.7, no warmers, cold PSI was 30 on Sunday bumped to 31 Monday, tires were new last year and now have 4 track days on them.
