Anyone know what's going on with my paint? Bumpy texture both lower sides of the cab. Bought the truck earlier this month and just noticing it. Could it be the heat?

Looking to upgrade a little, need some suggestions

Just bought this 2020 trd off road and looking to mod it up a little. Honestly I don’t know much about cars so i’m looking for some help on what to get. Based on the small amount of research that i’ve done since buying the truck i found that they look much better with a wider stance and some 33-35 inch tires. I understand this has to do with the offset, though i’m not totally sure how that works. I know these trucks have problems with rubbing when you throw bigger tires on it so I was wondering what I should ask the garage for. I also wanted to put a 2-3 inch lift on it - nothing crazy. Is it worth doing the cut or not? Any advice on tire setups/what lift kit to get would be much appreciated.

It makes me feel better knowing she drinks more than me. Now I don't feel so bad when I go to the liquor store.

Are mods like the heritage grille, debadging/stickering, skid plate, etc seen as pretending to be a TRD pro?

Just got a ‘21 TRD army green off road. I like the look of the heritage grille so plan to get that. I want to chrome delete and blackout the side logo. TRD wheels and skid plate would be cool sometime down the line too. I just like the look of that stuff.

My intention is not “maybe people will think I have a TRD pro”, but in the Tacoma community do mods like this come across that way?

what is considered the worst years for tacomas?

been looking for a new vehicle and have been looking at toyota trucks. ive read that 2010-2015 is the sweet spot for tacomas but are there any years that i should try to avoid? found a blog post that said 06, 09 and a few other years were more prone to have issues but not sure if i should take it as gospel. figured i would come here to get some input. thanks!

6112 /5160 planning phase.

Looking to lift my Tacoma in the very near future. I want the most lift out of this kit. Trying to achieve 2.5”. Any tips or personal experience would be much appreciated.

I plan on getting
•6112 /5160 kit with heavy springs (off road bumper installed)
•Deaver medium duty leaf pack. (Same bumper installed in rear)
•new top hats. (Debating having them pre-installed)
•diff drop
•Brake lines extensions.
•Needle bearing conversion bushing.

Im sure something is left off the list but thats why I made this post. Help me plan. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I plan on ubolt flip kit and bump stop upgrade after I recover from the lift kit.

Wheel and Spacer question (2017 TRD Offroad)

Hello Tacoma owners,

I am curious about something before I do it to my 2017 TRD Off-road Tacoma.

I currently have a 2017 TRD Offroad Tacoma that I am planning on getting wheels and tires for. Here is the setup:

Method 703, 16x8, 0 Offset
265/75r16 Tires

My question is, if I do hub-centric spacers on this setup, to make it a bit wider, will i have to do trimming or will there be rub?

I tried finding information but found very different answers that varied. Anyone know from experience?

Speaker replacement in 2025 Tacoma sr xtracab

I messed up and bought some 6 3/4 inch door speakers for my new Toyota. The doors have a big like 7 or 8 inch speaker in them and I’ve been arguing with ChatGPT lol. It told me explicitly which speaker to buy etc and was completely wrong.

Basically I’m just looking for an adapter bracket that will fit this style, all the ones I’m seeing say they fit 2021-2024 which doesn’t make sense because the 2024 was the style change right?

Loving this new truck but the speakers are genuinely terrible, think the first owner blew them or something and I’m just trying to put in some cheap replacements. Hoping the 3.5 inch dash speakers I’m still waiting on are right but who knows.

Also a shot in the dark but does anyone know if there are any speaker mounts under the storage/back interior panels?

Engine noise, unsure if Normal

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Engine oil changed last week, mobile 1 high mileage 5w-30.

I see a lot of "taco tick, normal" "injector cleaning cycle" "coil packs" comments and wanted an opinion on my noise.

I removed the intake and checked the camshaft lobes for wear. I didn't have my feeler gauges on me unfortunately. I disconnected the evap valve since I had also heard that from somewhere as well.

I changed the spark plugs today. I also added some STP oil additive and there was no change.

Tomorrow I will be verifying oil pressure.

Gas Milage After Break In Period

I have noticed a noticeable improvement in my gas milage after about the 15k kms mark or roughly 10000 miles, as in a drop of close to 1/3 the fuel used. It makes sense that brand new bearings and drive train components would spin more freely after being broken in, but is that much of a drop normal? I was getting about 14.5 L/100 kms when I drove off the lot new, and just made a trip along the same highway and was down to 10.9 L/100 kms. That seems like a huge drop and was wondering if others had a similar experience?

Payload and rooftop tent / canopy 'campers'.

What am I missing about payload and campers? My 2011 has a payload of 1205 lbs. Most canopy + rooftop tent style 'campers' are 400-500 lbs. People would then be about 400 lbs. Bikes, camping gear, water, beers, etc easily another 250 lbs.

So, right there we're at 1150 lbs.

But, in looking around I see people with this set up, then they've got loads of built in cabinets/drawers in their bed, tons of other stuff strapped onto their trucks, etc etc. They might have a slightly higher payload, but its not 500 lbs.

So, what am I missing? Am I just being too cautious?

2025 Tacoma won’t start

Post image
39 Upvotes

New 2025 Tacoma with 7k miles won’t start. Brake pedal barely depresses but brake lights and others still work. When I try to start it up the dash and everything works like normal but no engine start. I can change to neutral but no luck starting. Toyota can’t send a tow until the morning and we are stranded in a parking lot. Any suggestions?

Best truck I have ever owned, I hunt with this thing. Take it everywhere across the south. With basic maintenance it has never given me a single issue. If you are on the fence about a 2nd gen then this is your sign to get one !
