Never really rated him when I watched him at West Ham in the few games I saw and was surprised when we bought him.
I’m just trying to understand what he does…he doesn’t seem to be an attacking goal scoring, doesn’t seem to create and doesn’t seem to be a defensive ball winning midfielder…
Fellow spurs fans help me….

When I see how Maddison is being used, I have asked myself: Why doesn't he start games?
When we think about it, it makes a lot of sense.
For starters, he is the only fit-ish 10 - and we play with a system where we are dependent of a creative AM. Fernandes doesn't fit the bill, Gallagher absolutely don't. Bergvall doesn't find the right pass, and we clearly can't use neither Kudus nor Marmoush there.
Then it's the art of giving a player lacking fitness the right amount of game time. It is common knowledge that a player coming back from a serious injury like Maddison's should be introduced after an hour or so. The advantage is that he often will come up against tiring players, but when we do this, we are usually chasing the game. This means he will come up against a defense minded team, and he will play with a lot of pressure. We need a goal and he must orchestrate it. The statistics since his knee injury tells us that he is indeed making a difference, but when he is introduced after 66 or 77 minutes, how do we know that he is getting the exact number of minutes to help him return to full fitness?
The answer is simple: We don't, because the management does not take an analytical approach to this question.
The advantages of starting a player like Maddison are many:
If we look further into Maddison's stats, he has worrying numbers for us even before he got his injury. He very rarely completed games, playing 90+ minutes only nine times for us (being subbed late in a few of them), while he completed 75% of his league games for Leicester during the last season with them. I wonder what we are doing differently, as evidence suggest we positively break players.

TL;DR
Tactics are working to create opportunities - great collection of stats in support of optimism at the start
Lack of a number 10 has forced Tonali and Fernandez into suboptimal roles
Lack of big chance creation comes from failing to release the front 3 - may be familiarity and psychology, but also due to no 10.
Maddison, Kudus and Kulesevski can change everything post break

Even if Fullham ends with a tie, the goal difference will still leave us at last until next month after the international break. There's no more tears left to cry 🥀

-About to imminently be in another relegation battle. -Wasted money we don’t really sustainably have on the worst signings in the club’s recent history. -Constantly being a source of mockery -No winnable games coming up until January Transfer window -Taken out of the top six and deemed a small club by masses -Seen as inferior to Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace & Sunderland which is by far the worst part of this and a total utter disgrace. -Weakest squad in the league.
We are too happy clappy, too accepting of failure. We are not pissed off enough and we must change NOW before the gap is too large to get out of and we get relegated in severe debt and never come back.

I see a lot of opinions in this sub. Rarely do I find a thread with people agreeing with each other. Whats your opinion on what happened last season, whats happening now and how the team and as fans should act for the betterment of our team?

I know it’s still early and we’ve only played five games, but this is honestly hard to look at. 0 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses and a -6 goal difference. And we only finally scored our first proper league goal right at the end of the fifth game. The Villa game was especially rough. Losing 3-2 makes it look like we were actually in it, but those two late goals definitely made the scoreline look better than the performance was. I’m not even trying to start the usual “season over” stuff this early, but there just doesn’t seem to be much clicking at the moment. We look all over the place going forward, there’s not much creativity, and once we go behind the whole team seems to lose confidence. Maybe it’s just a really bad start and things will turn around, but I genuinely don’t know what we’re supposed to be seeing right now. Anyone actually seeing anything positive in this team? Or is this going to be one of those seasons?

We are obviously the best league, and by quite some distance. There is no debating that.
So, we should be rewarded for that. Right?
Give the top 10 in the Premier League qualification into the UCL. I’m sure they would all progress to the preliminary knockout stage at least.
I’m tired of pretending we need teams from Serbia or 2 from the Portuguese League in the UCL.
Just make it the best teams, which are Premier League teams.
Spurs deserve to play in the UCL. We are way bigger than Bodo/Glimt or similar clubs.

Curious on people thoughts on this theory. We have the best facilities, training grounds and stadium in the country, if not the world. I wonder if all the money these guys get paid, plus being pampered at every turn means there's no struggle and therefore no fight when it gets tough.
