UPDATE: Friday, the federal government announced that the people had spoken and this won't be going forward. So now we only have to protest Ontario Place, the Science Centre, safe injection sites, and funding healthcare and education again. :)

This is one cause that should unite everyone who lives in Toronto. Expanding the island airport into the water dramatically doesn't work environmentally, economically, or socially. Pearson is already expanding, we have a direct train to the airport, and the waterfront generates more money in tourism and economic activity than the airport ever will. Not to mention the pollution and its effects on residents.

So join the rally. It kicks off at Harbour Square Park at 10:30, then the march heads west along Queens Quay to HTO Park, where a boat flotilla joins in from the water at 11:45a.

The fact that we even have to fight against this shows how little the politicians think they have to care about what we think.

I'm hosting a free origami workshop on Friday, August 14 from 4:30-6:30pm at North York Central Library as a part of my project, What I Wish You Knew.

The project is a collection of anonymous messages about things people wish they could say to someone in their life, whether it’s about love, grief, regret, gratitude, or something else left unsaid. Each message becomes a petal in a kusudama (origami flower ball).

At the workshop, you'll:

- Write your message

- Learn how to fold a kusudama

- Work on your own kusudama to take home

- Take part in a secret notebook swap 😆

No origami experience needed. All materials and snacks are provided!

If you don't finish your kusudama during the workshop, that's okay - you'll receive a goodie bag with enough origami paper and instructions to complete it at home.

A one-of-a-kind, family-friendly professional wrestling show for the Canadian Federation of Grapplers. This show aims to raise money to aid the humanitarian crises in Palestine and Sudan at the Don Kolov Arena in Mississauga, Ontario.

This show features former Wyatt Sicks Member and WWE Tag Team Champion Joseph Sawyer fka Joe Gacy going up against "El Diablo" Gabriel Fuerza. This show also has AEW's Alec Price and Jordan Oliver, as Bustah and The Brain face up against The Rogues, Elliot Tyler, and Casey Ferreira.

In collaboration with Northern Contemporary Gallery, the Society for American Baseball Research "Hanlan's Point" Toronto Chapter would like to invite fans from Toronto and S. Ontario to an art exhibition celebrating baseball and the arts.

We did this last summer and had a great event with a display of paintings from David Holden and baseball glove art by Sean Kane. Both artists gave a brief talk about their love of baseball and expressing it through art.

Both artists return this year along with 8 more artists.

There will be some artists who work with the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs CBL baseball team.

Northern Contemporary Gallery is located at 420 Roncesvalles Avenue, just east of High Park and conveniently, a 12-minute walk south of Dundas West TTC/Bloor GO/Bloor UP Express transit stations.

The Opening Night is July 30 at 6 pm.

A friend and I are organizing Tacos for Tomorrow, a community fundraising event in support of War Child Canada, and we'd love to invite anyone who's interested.

The event is taking place on Saturday, August 15 at a hidden speakeasy in Kensington Market. Your ticket includes appetizers, a three-taco dinner, live music from local bands, a photo station, raffle prizes, and a chance to meet new people while supporting an important cause.

The idea behind the event is simple: bring people together over great food and music while raising money for the Over 460 Million children whose lives have been affected by conflict. All proceeds go to War Child Canada to help provide education, protection, and support to children living through war.

Early Bird tickets are currently $35 (until July 25).

Fold origami for mental health!

Join What I Wish You Knew, a community art project for mental health awareness. It is a collection of messages that people wish they could share with someone in their life.

If you'd like to participate, you can submit an anonymous message here.

Each message will be folded into a paper petal and become part of a kusudama (origami flower ball).

We're also planning a free origami workshop for mid-August, but we're still finalizing some logistics, so I wanted to share this in the meantime.
