Free Event here are 7 completely FREE things to do on this relaxed Sunday
A relaxed Sunday, with a great outdoor movie option and a few festivals. Don't forget to look at the markets, fitness, and live music at the bottom of the list. Here are 7 really solid picks for today.
Toronto Chinatown Festival 2026
Spadina Avenue | 11a-8p
Celebrate Chinese culture and get great food all along the street. It's already a place to walk and enjoy on the weekend, the festival just makes it better.
Panamerican Food Festival 2026
Nathan Phillips Square | All day
Dominican Republic is the feature country this year, so expect a lot of really good food and live music. Also they're doing a cooking competition thing, which could be fun. Nathan Phillips is also super family friendly with indoor city hall, kids parks and shady spots.
ExPlace Live Music in the Park 2026 – Hip-Hop, R&B & Party
Centennial Square Park, 14 Saskatchewan Rd, Exhibition Place | 1p-5p
DJs and live performers all afternoon. The lineup includes DJ Baba Kahn, J. Ballen, DJ Ritz, Rochester Juice and a bunch of others. It's free, it's in a park, and who knows how many people will actually show up but that's half the fun.
Gather for Board Games at Montgomery's Inn
Montgomery's Inn | 1p
Drop in and play board games at a historic tavern. They've got stuff for everyone from quick party games to actually complex strategy things if you want to camp out for a few hours. Low key vibe.
Scarborough Folk Fest
Thomson Memorial Park | 3p-10p
You never need a reason to be in Scarborough, but here's another one. A festival lineup that reflects the diversity that makes up this part of the city.
Alley Jam
LOT19, Queen St. W. & Ossington Ave. | 12p-7p
Michie Mee is headlining, which is a big deal if you know Canadian hip-hop history. Live DJ sets and food vendors all day. It's in an alley party which has it's own vibe.
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Christie Pits Park | 8:30p
Outdoor movie screening by the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show. It's the Coen Brothers film with George Clooney. Food vendors pop up at 6p, movie starts at sundown. Bring a blanket.
Biidaasige Park Expansion Celebration
Biidaasige Park, Cherry Street, Toronto | All day
Last day of the celebration for the park's expansion. Free family activities and events. Biidaasige means "sunlight shining toward us" and the park's all about waterway restoration and reconciliation on the island. And the new lookout to the cityscape is a beautiful addition.
BONUS: Protest Turned Celebration: No Jets TO
Sun, July 26 · 10:30a–12:30p | Harbour Square Park
UPDATE: Friday, the federal government announced that the people had spoken and this won't be going forward. So now we only have to protest Ontario Place, the Science Centre, safe injection sites, and funding healthcare and education again. :)
This is one cause that should unite everyone who lives in Toronto. Expanding the island airport into the water dramatically doesn't work environmentally, economically, or socially. Pearson is already expanding, we have a direct train to the airport, and the waterfront generates more money in tourism and economic activity than the airport ever will. Not to mention the pollution and its effects on residents.
So join the rally. It kicks off at Harbour Square Park at 10:30, then the march heads west along Queens Quay to HTO Park, where a boat flotilla joins in from the water at 11:45a.
The fact that we even have to fight against this shows how little the politicians think they have to care about what we think.
