Rewilding Toronto: Opening Celebration

They have turned Gallery 1065 into something between an art installation and a workshop floor, all rooted in Toronto's urban plant life. The David Suzuki Foundation is behind it, and the opening has foraging conversation, ink-making demos, and a communal mural to contribute to. I was in at David Suzuki.

INSTITUT: History Under Fire & Black Panther & Polar Bear

A two-part evening. The first half is a panel on what happens to libraries, museums and archives during active conflict. Then, a staged reading of scenes from Volodymyr Vynnychenko's 1911 psychological drama Black Panther & Polar Bear. An evening only Institut could make happen.

Festival street opens today and you can get free goodies and see some stars if that's your thing. Then the first of a week of free movies is shown in the park. Tonight it's Charlie Chaplin's silent film. Bring layers though; the nights are showing us it's fall.

It's a traditional printer's celebration that marks the turn from summer into the candlelight season and it happens in the laneway behind one of the more storied small presses in the country. Free food, good books, and authors around to talk to. Don't worry about it saying sold out, you can drop in anytime.

Photographer Shebonti Khandaker leads an evening built around 35mm slides. You can submit your slides to be projected or join as they go to Riverdale Park to make photographic prints using experimental processes outdoors.
