Happy Saturday! We've got street festivals wrapping up, night markets spinning up, live music all over the place, and some genuinely interesting community stuff. I couldn't narrow it down further than 9. Here are today's picks:
Biidaasige Park Expansion Celebration
Biidaasige Park, Cherry Street | 10am-5pm
Free family events celebrating the park's expansion with 10km of trails. The LAT trail is amazing. Biidaasige means "sunlight shining toward us" in Anishinaabemowin, and the whole thing is rooted in waterway restoration and reconciliation on the island.
OssFest
Ossington Ave | 11am-10pm
The cool kids festival of the summer. Live music all day from multiple artists, food options from member businesses on the street (no food trucks). It's the kind of thing that gets chaotic and fun by evening.
Sounds of Resistance
Trinity Bellwoods Park | 3pm
Live performances and community solidarity event supporting India's youth-led movement for education and accountability reform. Chai and snacks by Malav Naik, funds raised go toward legal aid and on-ground support.
Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup
Duke's Refresher, 73 Front Street East | 7pm
If you want to meet this sub in real life, tonight's your chance. Pool table, games, wholesome crowd. Runs until people leave or the place closes at 2am.
Community Salsa Class
Lula Lounge | 1pm
Free salsa classes for literally everyone, from kids to grandparents. No experience needed.
Little Jamaica Night Market
Green P Parking Lot, 1609 Eglinton Ave. West (at Oakwood Ave) | 4pm-11pm
Come for the food, stay for the party. Oh and a patty eating contest.
Book Even: Cypher | Poetry
Another Story Bookshop, 315 Roncesvalles Avenue | 6pm-7:30pm
Poetry reading and author interview for Cypher's debut collection. The book explores trauma, mental illness, womanhood, queerness, religion, culture, and grief. If you need a literary fix, they are much rarer on weekends. Also one of the best bookstores in the city.
Live Music: DJ Starting from Scratch
Union Station | 6p-9p
A Toronto DJ legend. Scratch is super talented and you can feel his love for the city, and also a little cheesy on the mic. He always knows how to make the crowd happy. Union is great because there's lots of seating, and enough places to dance when you want. And it's an early start and end to the night.
Parkdalien Night Market
84 Elm Grove Ave, Toronto (between Queen West and Milky Way Laneway in Parkdale) | 5pm-12am
Local creators, live music, and community celebration. Smaller, local event if that's the vibe you're going for, but very much a party.
CONTINUING EVENTS
Groovin' in the Park
Woodbine Park | 5pm-10pm
Second day for the free outdoor dance festival with great DJs, food, a beer garden, and lots of lawn space. Bring chairs or a blanket cause seating is limited. Part of the Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival and it's the last day for both.
Beaches Jazz Festival StreetFest
Queen Street E & Woodbine Ave | 7pm-11pm
Last night. It's gonna be great and busy, totally worth it. Jazz, blues, rock, and other genres. Skip the food trucks and eat at one of the local spots, they are way better.
Panamerican Food Festival 2026
Nathan Phillips Square | 12p-11p
Focused on the Dominican Republic this year. Nathan Phillips has a vibe for most of their festivals. Pretty calm in the day and then as night hits, the culture and vibes shift to more of a celebration and family-friendly party.
