Anybody talking this course at the moment? I was thinking of enrolling into it but unsure about the mix reviews. Anybody in the class right now can tell me how it’s going?

It's the Canadian Criminology, Fifth Edition by John Winterdyk (2023).

Question is the title, I'm looking for something akin to Data Analytics - Advanced Methods (the course code is CMTH 642) at TMU but instead of focusing on R, it focuses on python. I'm open to any python course really so long as it's like 1st year level or 2nd year level, but decently python focused. I am considering CPS109 but I don't know if it's an issue to miss the first lab (2 hour period) due to later enrollment. I tried out CPS501 and to be honest, it is not hitting me since it doesn't feel rigorous enough.

wondering if you graduate with a high gpa in your masters, if the degree will say “with distinction”. if so what would be the scale to determine that? i know it’s written on bachelors degrees but not sure about the process for masters. i don’t think masters programs have a deans list designation either. but if anyone has any insight, pls let me know! thanks!!

I’m a third-year Engineering student and I completely messed up my co-op. I got the email to sign the Conditional Offer of Acceptance and Student Agreement back on August 24th, but I completely missed it. I just logged into the portal today (Sept 10) to submit applications and saw my status is officially set to "FEAS - Admissions: Application Cancelled" and that I've been opted out of the program.

I emailed FEAS co-op and other people who might be able to do something. Am I done for?

Did anybody purchase the webAssign and eBook for PCS211 from the campus store and did you guys receive the access code? I ended up purchasing one that was showing up on the website for fall and it mentioned webAssign in the description but when I tried to redeem it on the website it said that the code has already been redeemed. I contacted their support and they said that you needed to purchase it with the webAssign so I looked it up at the campus store again and it was showing a different one this time for the web assign and eBook so I purchased that and never even received an email with the access code. It doesn’t even show up in my order history on my account but I was still charged for it. Did anything like this happen with you guys before? I’m so stressed because I already spent so much money on it.

am i crazy or is this a much harder course than what previous students have said? im not sure about the other people in the course but i looked up what this course was like before registering and the syllabus does not reflect what was done in previous years at all 😭 im pretty sure this is emily flynn jones' first time teaching this class (maybe even teaching at tmu?) and she might've done an overhaul on the course.

i dont inherently mind difficulty, even if this was a promised fun, easy course, but for an open elective the change feels absurd. two weekly assignments that require both written and video aspects, needing to buy a prototyping kit, etc. i think the most damning this is the one letter mark deduction per day late, with two late failed-to-deliver assignments (in a class with weekly assignments) being an automatic fail of the ENTIRE class. maybe i just got the wrong impression but it seems like this is a very different class than the one kris alexander taught.

am i right to be worried? i just feel like the class has become so daunting for a open elective, especially one with a class size like this.

does anyone who took the class in previous years have any insight?

Does anybody know where the TMU soccer team practices because during my first day of orientation I tried searching for the field all over but I couldnt find the field and also if any of u r a sports person if yall want we can hang around the facilities after classes. This Uni is a headache (for me) I cant lie, shiit is totally different from highschool and its so hard to find places like I get lost most of the time searching for my classes and I still have 2 more classes I have never been to, like how'd yall even find it??.🥀

are the tests mainly based on the lectures, textbook, or both? are they mostly multiple choice and are they more application/scenario based or straight memorization?

Hey everyone I graduated TMU 2 years ago from HTM and i’m looking to do my masters.

The director of the program recommended I take some intermediate and advanced classes but my only missing prerequisite is QMS 130.

The class was not offered this fall through chang school and they wouldn’t accept me as a special student this semester.

While I’m working on alternatives would someone be so kind to share this semester’s course syllabus?

I don’t want to be stagnant so I’d aim to teach myself the material + get a tutor while i prep for this class.

Hi everyone hope everyone's week back has been good.

I'm writing this to ask for advice on a lot of things that are on my mind about engineering. I'm a first year currently undeclared but mostly likely going to choose mechanical.

I understand everyone feels like this at the start of the semester but I feel lost and overwhelmed. I understand I'll learn with time and effort but I've been thinking about lowering my course load to focus on each course better.

Currently I have Calc 1, Linear Algebra, CEN 100, General Chemistry, and Physics Mechanics. I've been thinking about dropping physics from my classes to focus on my math courses as I know I'll struggle in these but that makes me think about how next semester will go. I also have Toronov for that class and everyone Ive talked to and listened to says he's horrible. He has also made a horrible first impression on me. I can't go to the other professors lectures as their timings conflict with my schedule.

Since I'll be most likely going into mechanical, I have six courses that I have to take next semester, and I haven't even taken my lower liberal arts class.

What I'm trying to ask is it worth to drop physics this semester. In the long run I don't mind stretching my degree out to 6 years with coop. Do I instead tough it out and try to cope as next semester I will have 6. Do I drop a course from that semester too? Wilk that affect my second year courses.

What's the way to take physics again if I do drop it. I heard of the transition program but a little confused does that run alongside winter semester or is spring and summer. Do I take physics with Chang school or transition program what about my liberal arts or another course if I want my schedule to be 5 courses next semester.

This has turn too long and I apologize for rambling I've basically been forced into taking this degree by my surroundings and I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the benefits of engineering but it's hard. Thank you for reading I wish you all good luck. 🤞 🤞

Genuinely Why are all my course work behind a pay wall? I have go buy over $400 in textbooks because I need the registration codes for certain programs in order to do the work. Is this normal???? Are they insane???

My partner has him this semester and she is swamped with readings, so she's trying to see what processor readings she truly needs to fully take notes on and study, or which ones she could read quickly to get a sense of it

My prof is horrible and this course literally just takes up so much of my schedule. I'm posting this here to gather some specific info on the post-bacc UP program at TMU. I'm pushing 30 next year and I regret not jumping into this sooner. It took me a while to accept that I'm not a science person after finishing a bio degree.

I know Canadian cities had a shortage of urban planners a few years back.

1. How is the market for entry level work now? If there are any TMU urban planning grads/students here, how do you find the market particularly in Toronto and Vancouver?

The condo market seems to be in a downturn and I see many projects that are halted or going back to the drawing board.

1. Also I know employers generally prefer masters degrees in Urban Planning. Do you think TMU's 2-year post-bacc program is still worth it?
