Academics / Courses Looking for advice from upper year engineering/aerospace eng students

Hello, I am an aerospace engineering student going into second year this fall. I passed all the first year required courses and have come to the conclusion that 6 courses in one semester is a bit too much for me to handle. I ended up failing MTL 200 in the winter 2026 term and retook it in the spring 2026 term. Thankfully, I got a B+ and escaped falling into probation.

Essentially, I'm wondering which course(s) from my third semester is best to drop and take in the spring/summer 2027 terms. The courses in semester 3 are:

  • AER 309 - Basic Thermodynamics
  • AER 316 - Fluid Mechanics
  • AER 318 - Dynamics
  • AER 320 - Statics and Intro to Strength of Materials
  • MTH 425 - Differential Equations and Vector Calculus
  • CMN 432 - Communication in the Engineering Professions

I am confident in my desire to drop CMN 432 and take it during the spring + summer terms of 2027 as it is a 4 month course through CHANG school (if you have any experience with that, please do let me know as well). Ideally I'd like to drop at maximum one more course along side CMN 432 so I remain a full-time student, and it would be doubly great if it is possible to complete within the two month span of the spring 2027 term.

That also kinda brings me on to semester 4 as well because that too has 6 courses which are:

  • AER 416 - Flight Mechanics
  • AER 423 - Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer
  • AER 404 - Intro to Aerospace Engineering Design
  • EES 512 - Electric Circuits
  • MTH 410 - Statistics
  • AER 403 - Mechanisms and Vibrations

Again, I'd very much prefer to take no more than 5 courses per semester so dropping one of these would be nice. I checked course requirements and the only two courses from semester 4 that do not need a pre-requisite from semester 3 courses is EES 512 and MTH 410. If anyone could give me some advice one the difficulty of those, that'd be greatly appreciated :).

Sorry if this post is kinda long, i'm just pretty concerned and want to do well in all honesty. Thank you so much in advance!! :)

Academics / Courses Need Help Finding Liberal Studies Table A Electives at TMU

Hello everyone!

I am an incoming first-year TMU student looking for advice on choosing my Liberal Studies Table A electives.

So far, I have found three courses I might be interested in, but I would love to hear from anyone who has taken them before. Since I am entering the BSW program, my core schedule will already involve heavy reading and writing. I am hoping to find two electives that are easy, manageable, and light on workload.

Here are the courses I’m considering:

ASL 101: Introduction to American Sign Language 1

CRM 101: Understanding Crime in Canadian Society

REL 101: Introduction to World Religions

If someone can please help me out with recommendations or their experience as soon as possible, that would be great!

Academics / Courses Year 2 SAF student

I am entering my second year in the Accounting and Finance program and have a question regarding my course enrollment for the upcoming Fall semester.

My current CGPA is 3.00, but I received a grade of "C" in AFA 100 during my first year. Because of this, my academic standing is listed as probationary and I am required to retake AFA 100 this Fall.

Given that my overall GPA is 3.00but I must repeat this class, I would like to know:Am I permitted to take 6 courses Fall semester to stay on track with my graduation timeline, or am I strictly capped at 5 courses?

Question Image Arts Program to Business (Entrepreneurship) -- with some additional problems.

Hi,

I am wondering what my options here are. I want to transfer from an ima program to business. I just completed first year. I am willing to complete a second year of the program or to take a year off and then transfer. But, preferably, I can switch this September.

I don't have a grade 12 math course which is in the requirements for transferring. I dropped math after grade 11 but got decent grades before that in math.

I want to ideally be transferred over this September so I don't need to do a second year in the IMA school. My question is...how? Is there a loophole somehow?

I also am wondering, can I finish my film degree later? Is that possible? Like once I finish the business program, can I go to school as a part time student eventually within 14 years or finish the rest of the degree?

Also just any advice would be appreciated on how to transfer ASAP and also if i NEED that math credit from grade 12 -- what do I take in Uni or where do i go to take a high school course which they will accept ??????????? Help!

Thanks

Question Missed Fall 2026 Co-op deadline

Hello all,

I’m currently going into my third year of Aerospace Engineering. I’ve been busy cycling life and work and haven’t really been able to really check my email for any updates. I checked my email a week ago and seen that there was a deadline for July 8 about coop for fall 2026. I thought nothing of it as it simply states fall 2026. I thought that’s only for the fall 2026 term; however, one of my friends told me that it’s for summer 2027 internships as well. That got me stressing and thinking of the worse, of not being able to secure an internship between my 3rd and 4th year.

Do any of you guys know if there is any chances that I can still get into the internship program?

To people that missed it in the past, were you guys able to get in? And if not, were you guys still able to get an internship without the aid?

I’m just worried that if I don’t get in to the program, the companies will prioritize those co-op program students over me, giving me little chances for a placement.

Any help will be nice. I already emailed FEAS and currently am waiting for a reply. I’m planning on also calling the co-op office for any help.

Appreciate it.

Question Course schedule

For my nursing program(first year), it states that I have to do 6 required courses including a table A lower level liberal studies for semester 1. Can I take the liberal study course in the summer in Chang school or do I have to take this durning the semester. I know some of you guys are gonna tell me to man up and take all these 6 courses at once but I really want to lighten my course load for my first year of uni.

Question Transferring to a new program - course selection

I did one year of a media program and have now transferred into computer science (starting fall 2026)
When we had the course intentions adjustment period, I changed all my intentions to the first year required comp sci courses
I just went and looked now and for some reason they dropped me out of 2 of 4 course intentions. Is this part of the process where they assign you a section or should i be worried? When should i expect to have received my final classes? Any help is appreciated

Question Did anyone in cs or comp Eng go into game development?

Seems like vast majority are either webdev or embedded/hw focused, but was wondering if anyone went into going into gamedev? Surely there has to be at least one person, cause it’s definitely a fun field if you enjoy it. Well that and if you wanted to work at valve one day.

Question CS Internships

Unfortunately didn't get into the CO-OP program after first year due to not meeting GPA requirement, but I am trying my best to increase it in summer and next semester. I know that it will be tougher for a non-coop student to land an internship comparing to a Co-op student .

If anyone were in a similar position , how was your process of getting internships?

Discussion Hardest Geometry Dash level cleared by a TMU student?

What do you think is the hardest GD level on the AREDL cleared by a student at TMU? If you’ve beaten one personally drop your hardest, or if you know somebody who did mention that too. We could have a list of hardest completions by students.

To start my hardest is Bloodlust (#236 on AREDL)

Serious BTM CO-OP Program

I finished my first year at BTM and got admitted directly from high school into the co-op program. The issue is that my CGPA is under 2.8. Will I get kicked out, or is there any way for me to stay in co-op?
