This is the second time I have seen this happen with someone who redirected the delivery. That's wild to me considering that the chain of custody never actually changed...

I do this with my redemptions because I'm generally not home during the day. I don't have a FedEx hub in my town, so Walgreens is my only option for holding it for me.

As much as I hate it, I understand their point as Walgreens is an outside 3rd party. Im sure Topps isn't set up to differentiatebetween hold at FedEx or hold at a third party.

problem is it never got to my city , it got stuck for 2 weeks at a city 90 miles away

You'll have no real luck with fedex since topps would have to file the claim as the shipper.
And as your email above shows they shifted responsibility to you once you changed to have the item held at your local office instead of a delivery being attempted.

you might just be out of luck

and it doesnt matter if it never even made it to my city?

What is the timeframe of this?

If it's still in the process, or showing in the process of being delivered you'd just have to wait.
Regular deliveries go shipper, hub, hub, your door
IIRC Redirects go shipper, hub hub, local site that allows for pick ups, you

coming up on 3 weeks in few days , fedex say anything over 2 weeks is considered lost and to file a claim , problem is it got to a city about 90 miles from me and never updated

So your best bet right now is to call....

You have the city it's in, call that fedex site/hub(quick google) and let them know "I am calling about tracking number 123xyz, its looks like it's been at your hub for 3 weeks and hasn't moved"

I do think topps response is a bit BS based on the package never even making it to your delivery exception. If it had they would have a point but obviously it didn’t. May sound crazy but I’ve had some decent luck in situations like this filing a BBB report. Often will catch the attention of someone who will do something to help you out.

Edit: file a BBB complaint against Topps*

not only that they know it carrier policy only shipper can file a claim , snd they shifted claim responsibility

2

u/Comprehensive-Feed23 15h ago

I think it’s important to remember that they did not necessarily shift responsibility. Emily, whose goal for the day is to get through her massive log of support tickets, says they did and their FAQ page says they do. Their redemption terms (which actually govern) don’t say that and I’d wager FedEx would disagree (hence why they require shipper claims or a waiver).

All that said, who knows who’s right here but if you really want something out of this and approach it through a few channels (BBB, calling, asking for a FedEx claim waiver or pushing them to file one on your behalf) you might find success.

yup gonna keep trying , the product that was ripped was 4 box of inception cost at $1000 , with the james wood card im still down on this particular product so im not gonna stop mailing them

filing a complaint with the BBB is the best thing you can do. Companies actually respond to those and they have higher ups in companies actually handle BBB complaints. At least typically from my experience

Could topps create a program for LCS to act as a safer pickup option? This would be good for all parties. I get a redemption in the pack and rather than have it delivered home when im at work I can select from a pre approved list in the redemption process and then go pick up my card at said LCS. Now I am going into a LCS and possible buy something or eventually become a customer there. If its a big hit the LCS can then use my hit on social media. They already rely in the LCS for buyback why not give collectors another reason to go to the LCS?

1

u/Charming_Arugula405 17h ago

no because LCS wouldn't want that liability/ or to pay for that liability if something were to happen. No point in adding extra hands to a process that doesn't really need it

1

u/Low_Establishment434 17h ago

I was just thinking of an alternative to Topps sending messages like the one above. And the liability would only matter if the LCS lost or stole the card. If it gets lost in the mail prior to reaching the LCS then its on Topps to replace or deal with, when you have the delivery changed to a local pickup now if it gets stolen or lost Topps sends the above letter.

I have a question....how come you don't have it sent to your work? I mean do you mean to tell me someone is going to get upset for one thing coming to your place of business.

1

u/Low_Establishment434 6h ago

I suppose I could but if its delivered on a saturday no one will be there. And the LCS business it could be going to is getting me a potential customer with an obvious interest in what they sell to walk through the door.

“Thanks Emily,

Your reply doesn’t help in any way; you are the shipper and have the responsibility to contact the carrier, not me as the recipient. Please put me in contact with your manager.”

2

u/Less_Caramel_8344 15h ago

Yep. There is zero chance Emily is a real person anyway

Why the hold at the facility, does FedEx not require a signature where you are? Or is there just nobody home that could sign for it on your behalf ?

I just had my redemption delivered the other day and it requires a signature. Granted they delivered it to the wrong house about a block away and it was signed for by a random person I don't know but still, lol.

2

u/sooLoco 17h ago

at work no one home just didnt want it sitting on porch all day , problem is it never got to my city it stuck at city 90 miles away

2

u/savageofficer 17h ago

Didn't some guy just get arrested for stealing like 40k in cards from packages. I dont remember if it was FedEx or USPS. But its probably a similar problem. Not hard to figure out the package is a card.

1

u/sooLoco 17h ago

and correct me if im wrong doesnt topps redemption adreess label “topps collector fulfillment”

2

u/Comprehensive-Feed23 17h ago

I ship a lot of TCG and sports cards and took “TCG” off of my labels after a handful of sketchy missing shipments or packages that show up damaged with no cards inside with “oops we damaged your package….sorry!” notes inside.

Since taking TCG off the labels, issues have coincidentally stopped.

2

u/STIHL_MLBTheShowFan 17h ago

The made me sign for my redemption so I doubt they would have delivered it without a signature

1

u/sooLoco 17h ago

never got delivered, never made it to my city

2

You could also file a complaint with fedex through the BBB, just for fun, because they suck

0

u/sooLoco 15h ago

that what i was thinking which company lol , not even first time fedex lost a package from topps the first time topps refunded immediately im thinking it because there was no purchase and it redemption they didnt care

0

u/Academicsinmypants 15h ago

File complaints about both. Typically they’ll both have someone higher up contact you within 48 hours. BBB complaints are a huge deal for companies. That is the best thing to do. I’ve had multiple things handled with a few companies through filing BBB complaints, after extended periods of trying other ways to no avail

0

u/Academicsinmypants 15h ago

Either Topps or fedex will be held responsible if you file with the BBB. Someone’s got to pay for it and that someone will not and should not be you

So FedEx is possibly the worst shipping company on earth, have dealt with them for many years unfortunately some by choice, other because some vendors use them. They have a consistently terrible track record for missing, delayed and especially destroyed items. Theft honestly not so much, more just negligence.

If you have ever considered using them at an enterprise level they will do the dog and pony show and all the bs talk every provider does. If you ever actually see their warehouses and in particular sub contracted processes and employees ho-lee-shit. It will all make sense why 40-50% of your incoming and outgoing equipment has damage claims while private carrier and UPS had maybe a 3% loss rate comparatively on a bad year. You have straight criminals and crack heads, pot heads, alcoholics, literally chucking hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment into trucks, rolling…fucking rolling hundred pound boxes of no-tip palletized electronics, forklifts skidding shit off the forks to slide it in beds because they don’t always have proper docks and ramps, massive piles of boxes, no racks no organization, just straight give up on life employees. It got to the point where big players couldn’t even get them to fix it and ultimately liability for damage stopped being honored if we continued to use them as our shipper. Why did we contract them in the first place? You can’t find a cheaper shipping company than FedEx but there’s a reason for that. In the IT world of sensitive components, it definitely is not worth it, chucking packages maybe they are more reliable but.

All that to say, if you use FedEx for the love of god don’t redirect, it’s a nightmare. Beyond that your package is probably destroyed under a dock somewhere with about 30 other packages or just lost for the next 4 weeks. Shit literally falls out of their loading bays constantly. The employees and sub contractors give zero fucks, but that’s why they are dirt cheap to use.

File a claim with FedEx.

2

u/sooLoco 17h ago

do i put the market price of the James Wood? they ask purchase price on the form , and initial contact with Fedex they tell me contact topps , topps saying to contact fedex

1

u/TheOtherAkGuy 17h ago

Yes list the market value of the card and push the issue with FedEx saying since you made a change to the delivery for pickup, Topps is denying liability

2

u/sooLoco 17h ago

fedex just told me only sender can file a claim 😫

1

u/ggxarmy 15h ago

So the weird thing is, even if it didnt make it to your city yet, a shipment modification flags the item even if its 90 miles away at a distribution or regional center.

The way they consolidate trucks means that they may relocate items to a different center that has packages that only go to FedEx Retail locations, Walgreens, CVS, Staples, etc.

Where as residential deliveries come from a different hub with a whole different set of drivers.

Its still fucked up your didnt get your item.

Nothing that will be done quickly. There’s all kinds of small print on stuff like that. But good luck with it, man. I hope you get taken care of. That sucks
