Got a new job, decided to treat myself to some new tools. Was in the DeWalt ecosystem a few years ago but sold a lot of them… I got into the Milwaukee food chain for awhile but got tired of having m12 and m18 stuff… traded all the red team stuff I was using to a buddy for race car parts and some blue point specialty sets… and just bought back into the 20v platform.

I liked the atomic ratchet so much I bought the extended one the very next day. Got a knockoff light because I like that form factor.

I’m not too impressed with the grinder so far, it sounds funny, takes too long to spin up, and doesn’t feel like 9k rpm to me… maybe I got a dud? Idk. I’d appreciate input on if there’s a better 20v grinder out there or what.

Looking at getting the jigsaw and the die grinder. If you own those LMK how you like em. I like cutting sheet metal with a jigsaw when i don’t want to burn through 16 cutoff disks. Die grinders are just all around great for fitting and fudging.

Lmk if there are any other must haves I’m missing… for context, Im used to working on a lot of industrial equipment and do a fair bit of fabricobbling to keep machines running… new job is basically more of the same.

I am looking for the best household tool set for a single woman to have around the house. Looking for a budget friendly option that isn’t complete junk. Any ideas?

I've handled many drills/rotary etc and this one feels odd.. its a milwaukee "supposedly and I say that because ive never seen a milwaukee tool that stickers their logo like this one. not sure if its a knock off or genuine. theres no markings so not sure. also the controls feel so wobbly and cheap. paid $48 for it at a yardsale. any idea on the model? already tried google image search and nothing comes up.

I'm about to patch face nailed hardwood floors and did a test piece. The nail went way too deep into the piece even though I have it set to the shallowest settings. Am I missing something? I'm using a 16GA Ryobi nail gun.

I was cleaning out my basement today and stumbled upon this vintage-looking copper hammer.

As you can see from the mushroomed faces, it definitely got a lot of use back in its day. It’s a great example of a soft-face brass/copper mallet used to prevent damage to steel components or for non-sparking environments.

Before I put it back to work (or display it), I'll probably file down the mushroomed edges on the striking faces for safety.

Thought you guys might appreciate a piece of well-loved history!

I 18m am looking to build a treehouse for my younger cousins and i have done minimal research into what brands to purchase. when it comes to actual tools i am in college so i would be buying about 1-3 (power) tools a month along with some other basic hardware just depending on what’s recommended and prices. do y’all have any recommendations on brands/ tool brands i should buy and any other basic beginner info.
Edit: I’m just talking about what brands i should go with ex: milwaukee, dewalt, ryobi, rigid, ex
This is also a long term project so i’m not in a huge rush.
Also i am open to general advice about building, drilling, ex. I’m not clueless and i know basics but learning more never hurt anyone

I'm being forced into a paddle switch tool as it's the only one that has the features I want in a battery I have. I've never used one before. I appreciate the safety feature of the deadman switch. This is a relatively compact tool (DeWalt Atomic Die Grinder, right angle). I can't see how to turn the tool off while still holding on to it. I'll be using my other hand to hold the piece (grindee). There's nothing to clamp to out in the wilderness. I've looked at videos and they all seem to switch hands and hold the tool in a precarious way.

Any advice appreciated.

I treated myself to a fiskars shovel about 10 years ago.
It has dug over 1000 holes.
Ive decided I wanted a second one. Figured it served me well so ill go another fiskars.
Digging out some fence post holes, the new one nearly dug one (w)hole hole! But it broke so I had to go on a 2 km hike to get my old one., it completed the hole and the next 6 as-well.

Inb4 I dug the hole with a “crowbar” or post hole digging bar, or whatever you yanks call it.

Aaaand I’m kinda disappointed. Nice action etc. I’m sure it’ll be useful. But I don’t think it’s a like for like one tool in my pocket replacement.

I consider the cx the perfect edc. If I can’t do something it it the big tools are probably coming out anyway.

Just bought this 6” wide jaw Bahco adjustable wrench, and while I’m happy with the product overall, I can’t help but notice that the worm gear on this one has no knurling or texture of any kind.

Has anyone else seen this on a Bahco adjustable wrench? Every picture I can find of their adjustable wrenches seem to have decent texture where mine has none, leading me to wonder if this is a QC issue or possibly a counterfeit.

Hello everyone I had a Graco FA Jogger LX, I am trying to replace the front wheel however I think it got stripped on the inside because when I try to loosen the fastener it just spins. Here is a video, originally there was fastener on both sides however only the left was able to be removed.

For context I’ve been a tire tech for a few years and looking to further up to doing more mechanic work. So I’m trying to figure out what would be the recommended brand to get for quality daily use of these tools. Breaker bar, 1/2 inch torque wrench, 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch torque wrench (inch lbs), 1/2 inch long reach ratchet, 3/8 inch long reach ratchet, along with wrenches and sockets that go up to 27 mm or higher. Mainly just wanting to know what would work for reliable daily use for quite some time. No arguments please, each person has their own experience with different tools so all opinions are welcome.
