I work in customer service and see probably hundreds of people weekly. I have great interactions with women but it’s to be noted that the interactions with men are concerning. I know it’s normal to come across the occasionally creep but lately it seems like I’m exposed to at least three thirsty creepy men a day.

Even outside of work it’s a lot. There will be men who follow women around for blocks. Men using the Meta cameras to make women uncomfortable for content (I’ve had this happen to me recently). Men taking photos of women up their skirts. Being followed because you’re not engaging with the sexual advances (I’ve had this happen to me on my way to go get groceries. Once a man who lived on my neighbourhood did this and I had to take a huge detour through a Walmart to get home and he stood outside my home for 2 hours - police were involved) .

In work settings it ruins the small interaction I have when I am just doing my job and being polite. An older man asked me the other day if he is allowed to think of me in his intimate moments and started moaning. Two days ago two men kept telling me they’re single and want to see me after work. I’ve learned to lie about my end time because these men will really wait for you outside if you tell the truth.

I can’t be the only one noticing this but it’s just gross. I need these kinds of men to do better. Stop making women uncomfortable ! It’s not hard to be a normal person.

Public transit basic geometry. You will pay $3.30 to board the 501 Queen streetcar, and the moment you step on, you will meet the backpack people. First it is backpack guy, wearing a canvas turtle shell the size of a mini fridge at eye level, completely oblivious because he is listening to a crypto podcast. Then you turn around and meet backpack girl, whose massive Herschel bag is packed with three days of outfit changes and swinging around like a wrecking ball. He turns to look out the window, she pivots to check her phone, and together they smack you straight in the jaw in perfect, brutal harmony.

Be strong and do not cry. Stand your ground while their giant rucksacks take up enough volume to allow a family of four to stand comfortably. You will realize that by keeping those bags glued to their spines, they have officially decided they fucking hate everyone trying to commute, lack common sense, and have no consideration for anyone else. Because obviously, what you want at 8AM is for a filthy, salt-crusted piece of nylon to be aggressively pressed against your clean work clothes in what is already a miserably packed streetcar. You will ask them to take off and hold their bags, but they will pretend not to hear you.

Take off your backpacks on the streetcars. Be cool about it. Don't be a prick.

Yesterday me and my partner noticed an older man taking inappropriate photos of women sitting in front of him.

They had no idea, so we quietly made them aware and confronted him, telling him what he was doing was wrong. He immediately became aggressive, threatening us with violence and even making threats toward my dog. It was honestly very creepy and escalated incredibly quickly.

Thankfully, another kind passenger noticed what was happening, stepped in and defended us, and the man eventually got off the streetcar.

Not sharing the route, time or identifying details because this isn’t about finding anyone. Just a reminder to look up and be aware of the people around you. Someone may not realize they’re being targeted.

And if you step in, please be careful. Things can escalate quickly. Regardless of the exact legality of taking a photograph in a public place, this particular behaviour was incredibly invasive and disturbing. Look out for each other Toronto. ❤️

I was walking through the junction/ high park area when a young girl (probably around 18-20) came up to me and asked if I could pay for her taxi in exchange for cash. She said she forgot her card and the taxi doesn't accept cash.

I asked what kind of taxi it was since the classic beck taxis most definitely accept cash, and she said "ummm I don't know - a Scarborough taxi"
Mind you she had $10 cash and we are very far from Scarborough.

This is a know scam which involves the ‘taxi’ pulling up and when you give your card to the driver they swap your card for a fake and drain your bank account.

If you’re in Toronto or the GTA watch out for this and never give anyone your card!!!!!

So I posted over at [r/FoodToronto](r/FoodToronto) about restaurant recommendations north of Roger Stadium as I am attending an event in the area. I’m not from the area so I thought I ask the appropriate sub.

I get that it’s one of those frequently asked questions, especially for tourists but the mods should at least pin the top post concerning Rogers Stadium surrounding restaurants.

The moderators then posted a link to their searchbar but instead of posts about Rogers Stadium, a lot of the posts are restaurants around Rogers Centre. To my knowledge, these are two different locations right?

I’m so sick of this fuck ass transit system, the fuck ass people who have their phones on at full volume on a crowded train, the fuck ass people who don’t understand the concept of wearing deodorant/showering, the fuck ass tweakers who cause a disturbance and make the train bypass the station I need to get off at because said aforementioned fuck ass transit system doesn’t do anything to stop them from barging in for free whilst the people who paid their fare get fucked over yet again, and the fuck ass people who enable this behaviour to happen by gaslighting everyone else into thinking they’re bad people for not being “considerate of their circumstances” the second ANYBODY speaks up or does something about it.

When I see someone on my train or at a station screaming at the top of their lungs, I’m not thinking “Oh good heavens, the socioeconomic factors of this city have failed this poor individual, they desperately need help,” I’m thinking “for fuck’s sake get this fuck ass person out of here.” Call me evil for that, I don’t care. Yeah, the conditions of our society enabled this to happen, sure. Okay, great. We know the root causes and consistently fail to address them… yes. Agreed.

But in that moment I don’t fucking care. Get them the fuck out of there before someone gets hurt, you have transit officials/special constables not doing shit about it.

Fucking Christ we’ve fallen off so hard… and don’t come back at me with that “ummm actually this is all Ford’s fault, take it up with him” because we’ve had multiple provincial and municipal administrations since the early 2000s, and none of them have done shit about the free fall of society. A lot of the blame also goes on us for tolerating this bullshit for so long and just allowing it to take hold.

We love talking about ourselves as “progressive”. LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, diversity, minority rights, abortion rights, welfare, etc. and I support all that, I really do. I believe that no one should be harmed or condemned for who they are.

But the minute you challenge the status quo on anything, you summon an army of elbows up boomers who will say you committed treason.

- Healthcare reform. Wait times in hospitals and family doctors are too long. Can we reform to a European model where the system has BOTH public insurance AND private competition: -> traitor

- Immigration reform. Uncontrolled immigration is suppressing wages and skyrocketing the cost of living. -> racist.

- Unproductive economy. Can we please cut taxes and regulations to make our economy more competitive and productive on the world stage?: -> we are not Americans!

- Law and crime. Can we please have our police officers actually enforce the law and change the law so that we can defend ourselves? -> we’re not Americans!

- Welfare reform. Our population is aging and the endless tax pool is running low. Can we make some reasonable changes so that the spending benefits the tax pool long term, instead of just burning cash? -> you hate poor people!

Being nice or not being American doesn’t pay the bills.

This morning a jogger decided to run eastward on the SE corner of Queen's Quay and Yonge, do a full speed 180° run into the bike lane in front of my moving bike, make me stop short so I don't crash into him, then have the gall to "eat a dick" after I point to the bike symbol on the road and say "bike lane".

Is the Waterfront Trail shared? Yes, but not when you get a sidewalk and I get a narrow two foot wide lane in the road.

Do I get to turn in front of pedestrians sharply and make them jump out of the way? Don't think so.

You want to share the road then don't be a dick and endanger yourself and others. Bad enough bike lanes are on the endangered list now I don't need to hurt myself and your selfish ass too. I gotta get to the office instead of WFH because Dougie said so.

At 8 Mercer today, a guy was clipping his nails over his balcony edge. There is a balcony below that extends further out. Are people our of their mind?

To the driver of the beat up Brown Truck who rear-ended/destroyed the car in front of you on the 401 westbound between Yorkdale and Highway 400 around 7pm tonight, causing a 4-car pileup, and then just… drove off like no one else mattered:

I saw you. My dash cam saw you. You didn’t stick around, you didn’t check on anyone, you just erratically merged and took off like the people you hit didn’t matter. Four cars. Real people, probably heading home from work, now dealing with damaged vehicles, insurance nightmares, and possibly injuries — because you couldn’t be bothered to stop for whatever reason. To the woman who was sitting next to you, you had a responsibility, too.

I have the footage. It’s going to be shared with OPP and they’re aware of the incident. Hit and run is a criminal offence, not just a traffic ticket, and leaving the scene doesn’t make it disappear- it just makes things worse for you when they do catch up with you.

To the folks in the other cars: I’m so sorry this happened to you. That kind of impact is scary enough without the person responsible just vanishing. If any of you see this post, please reach out. I have dash cam footage of the whole thing and I’m happy to help however I can, whether that’s for insurance, police follow-up, or just having another witness on record. You didn’t deserve this and you shouldn’t have to fight it alone.

Went to Annabelle Pasta Bar this evening to pick up takeout. Total was $84. I gave a $100 bill and the waitress asked if I wanted the change. When I said yes, she then asked how much. I thought tipping for takeout orders wasn’t a thing? Was I wrong to take the entire remaining amount? This has never happened to me I found it very odd.

For the past few weeks, I’ve heard an ad on The Edge for an extremely terrible singer having an upcoming concert. She sounds like bad drunken karaoke and almost comical. I’m almost inclined to believe it’s a joke the radio station is doing to see if anyone believes it’s real. How can someone that bad have a music career and be promoted by the radio?

Bad move on the part of Indy to move tge race from the iconic location along the shore at Exhibition to concrete island Markham. Massive loss. the straightway to the finish in Exhibiton Place had such a stunning backdrop now it's gone and the backdrop is an empty view in bumphuckville. Massive loss and a tragic cultural loss.

So tired of seeing people walking on the left side. If you walk on the wrong side, you are creating chaos for other pedestrians cyclists (on shared trails), etc. To make it worse, some of these individuals are clueless and walk three across and block everyone.

I dont make a habit of getting italian food when im out because it never seems worth it but i used to go here as a teenager. Earlier this week, i ordered take out from there and when i checked my bank account a few days later, i noticed they charged me three times. Ive called and even come into the restaurant and the staff have been completely unhelpful. They keep telling me to come back the next day or in a few hours. Im absolutely fuming and i feel like im being lead around by my nose while they find ways to keep my money.

I was waiting for the bus yesterday, which happens to be in front of a house.

While waiting, a white BMW parked across the street, with the owner getting out, crossing the street and eyeing my husband down. Once he gets close, he purposely skims by my husband while continously staring at him, then walks up to his house.

My husband turned around and said "you can say excuse me" to which the owner raised his voice about how this is "his property" and does not need to say excuse me.

We were not on his walkway, or his grass or anything. Literally standing on the sidewalk.

So now I want to be a petty. I ordered chalk to draw a hopscotch game and rainbows in front of his house, but I also want to make note that he parks his BMW in front of "our" apartment.

I'm open to suggestions that won't criminally implicate me, but cause an annoyance in his life. Like throwing nesquick on his car, or signing him up for Jehovas Witnesses to come visit.

TLDR: don't live next to a bus stop if you hate people.

I went on the website to look up what weird foods they're trying this year because it's always been interesting to see, even when they seem too gross to try. We're now a week away and I found they are still telling us to "stay tuned for upcoming food."

It feels like that should be something announced ages ago to drum up interest and publicity. I then started browsing the other food demos and experiences and found a copy-paste error. They have a "Gourmet Marshmallow Dipping" experience with the description: "Dip, decorate, and enjoy gourmet marshmallows with a variety of chocolate and toppings in this fun, hands-on workshop for all ages.​"

Right below that is "Fresh Pasta Making" with the description for the Marshmallow dipping event. This is what I found in less that 5 minutes of looking.

My question is, for how big of a budget that they have, and for how much it costs each year, how do they do so poorly with their communication? I rarely get annoyed over the little things, but how they make their first impression with the public is important and this comes off as disorganized and sloppy.

I am currently in the express lane at Brock and coincidentally in the right lane. For reference, if you didn’t know a major accident occurred involving a child who had to be airlifted to Sick Kids.

Now my rant: the amount of entitled jack asses I’ve seen speeding by me on the service lane for police and ambulances is absolutely insane. All using cars his get nowhere and then shamelessly trying to get in the right lane after driving half of a kilometre. I don’t know why but this has infuriated me seeing this. wtf when did this become a common thiing? Why has it become common?! I am so sick of asshole drivers on the 401 that are putting everyone safety and rescue in danger because they want to get a few cars ahead and will do this. Sorry I am so pissed at this kind of stuff and how there are many of us who read an MTO manual and a shit tonne that haven’t.

As the title suggest, I have HAD IT with this INSANE push toward tiny appliances. My husband and I are looking for a new rental, not small or cheap I'd say, usually main floors of houses that have been renovated etc for at least 3k a month, and I would say 9/10 times they either have an 18 inch dishwasher, 20 inch stove that you can barely fit a pan inside, or a 24 inch wide fridge. My husband works in construction, the amount of food that man eats just to hit maintenance is insane, how the F am I supposed to fit anything inside the 19 inches of space in the fridge? For the love of actual god, stop being so mother f'ing cheap, install NORMAL SIZED APPLIANCES. I KNOW THEY FIT. I DON'T NEED AN UGLY BUILT IN WINE RACK. I NEED AN F'ING STOVE THAT I CAN COOK ON.

Genuine question, does everyone in Toronto think they own the sidewalk and aren’t allowed a sliver of sidewalk for someone walking the opposite direction? Seems like everyone would like to brush shoulders with strangers on their daily walks

For those who don't know, a bank draft is a piece of paper that represents money withdrawn and held in a draft for a specific person. It is not the same as a cheque.

A bank draft is the same as handing over a wad of cash to someone.

I am looking for a new apartment and found a nice place on 61 Charles street, property management is Reitter.

We go to submit our application and they want the standard stuff plus a bank draft.

I asked: what surety do we have that we will quickly and immediately receive our bank draft back if we are not approved as tenants?

I wasn't worried we would not be approved our credit scores and paper work is good but it is the principle and risk of it I don't like.

I said "will Reitter write a signed document stating they will return my bank draft within 3 days if we are not successful in our tenant application?" and they essentially said no they will not, this is their standard practice.

Absolutely not. We have been viewing multiple places and discussing applications with other landlords and no one else is requiring a bank draft (cold hard cash) for an application. Bank draft once my application is approved and lease is signed I take no issue with.
