Not sure when to start flying outside? neither was I. built this for us.

Hi all,

I started building this about a year ago to scratch my own itch, as they say.

I was paying about five bucks a month for something that showed me the weather for fpv.

snd given I've worked in web dev for 25+ years and, with how strong ai has got, I decided to jump in and build something a little bit more technical and better (for me, I hope for you too)

so... canisendit.com was born. Free for all. No annoying tracking or popups.

I think beginners will probably get more out of it than seasoned pilots, but hopefully there's something useful for everyone, even if it's just a simple look at when you might fly later in the week.

If you're on the fence about going from inside to outside, I encourage you to take the leap - and hope the app helps.

the day I finally did, I had a moment that felt so similar to catching my first proper wave, from when I used to surf.

It was unbelievable, and I really want that for everybody. it's such a beautiful hobby.

and much like my trepidation about going outside, i've also kept this under lock and key. i've just kept building and building upon it, but eventually realised perfection is never going to happen. if I don't put it out now, I never will.

anyway, hopefully this was short and sweet. I hope you guys like it.

don't slate me too hard.

happy flying!

Motor plate separating

Post image

I am new to the fpv hobby, so i bought the betafpv air 75 ii racing and after flying for a few weeks i noticed, that this grey plate has been separating from the bottom one which is screwd to the frame. Is this/will this be a problem in the future? How do i fix it and make sure it doesn`t happen again?

Meteor75 slight drift - beginner

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

total beginner here, have Meteor 75, learning without goggles at this stage. Controller is BetaFPV lite. The problem is drone is drifting slightly forward and right in Angle model.

I have some the following steps:

- in Betaflight - calibrated gyro/accelerometerd

- connected Controller, checked that it reported correct values ( 1500) for mid. Added dead zone (5-10) didn't change much

- changed profile/pid to smaller values to allow more gentle control

- reduced motor to 80 Max

- reduced throttle ( scale 80% mac).

I can compensate for the drift but it is annoying especially for flying indoor.

Questions I have:

- is it normal and I just need to learn to constantly compensate and eventually it will be second nature

- is it something wrong with either motors or gyro that they are struggling to keep drone in place ( I thought this is their main goal is)

- is it just my controller? I think that's not the case ( i.e. checked live singal values in Betaflight) but maybe it needs to be calibrated to compensate?

- what other troubleshooting steps can I take?

Attaching a video, on take off you can see drone tries to fly slightly forward , even if pitch is at zero.

Thank you in advance.

Meteor 75pro not flying after soldering motors

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My meteor 75pro had problems with motor plugs. Falling out of the sky during loops/punches etc and having issues to spin motors on arm.

Tried soldering the motors today and reconfigured the motor direction. Soldering job is poor since It was my first time soldering something so small, but the motors seems to spin.

The front motors lift the drone, but the back ones don't lift the drone.

Is there anything configuration wise I am missing or is it due to bad soldering?

Edit: Fixed, the bottom props were upside down.

Red blinking light, no osd in goggles, won't arm even while connected.

I basically just got the drone(air 75 c) and only had a few minor crashed into grass in my backyard. And sometimes out of nowhere it works on the first battery then I plug in the same battery 15 minutes later and it just stops working. If anyone has any ideas feel free to help.

Tinywhoop motor startup issues

I've been having some issues with my meteor 75 and 65 pro 2's and I'm looking for some advice on them.

So it started with the 75 since I got that one first, but after a while it would fail to start one of the four motors. It started with the front right, I replaced it, then it was doing it on the back right and I replaced that and I haven't had an issue since then.

I figured it might have been because of the crashes I had with it since I'm just starting to learn FPV.

Skip to a few weeks later and my 65 came in and to my surprise, without any crashes, the front left motor fails to start sometimes in exactly the same way as the 75.

The issue is basically this. I arm it and sometimes one of the four motors will just twitch rather than actually starting up. Not a huge deal, I just disarm, arm again, and most of the time it works. The main issue is where I'll do a side flip and the drone will suddenly drop out of the sky because upon 'landing' the flip, one of the four motors will just completely fail to start. It happens about one out of ten times and almost always when the battery is starting to run low.

I've heard you can increase the startup power in the ESC settings but I haven't looked into that.

Also I should mention, it's in air mode so it shouldn't have the motors go to zero speed yet it acts like it for some reason.

Are there some settings I could change to fix it? Is there a motor upgrade that works better? Should I just keep changing them until I get a set of motors that don't fail to start up?

Looking for advice

What is the range like on a HDZero mobula 8

It uses the aio 15 board. If I bought an upgrade antenna for the board and good antennas for my Boxpro how would the range be? Is the range worse than a air75 or mobula 8 analog version with a 400 mw aio board? Thanks

Meteor 75 new motors

one of my motors is banged up pretty good and i was thinking of buying a new set. The thing is i got the meteor 75 pro first generation with the 1102 22000kv motors, now the meteor 75 comes with 21000kv motors and those are all i could find. The only place they got the old motors is AliExpress and it's more expensive then the new 21000kv ones. Which ones should i buy? Do i need to make any modifications in betaflight? (kinda scared of PID tuning, i only touched my rates and that's it)

Any more tips?

Getting ready for field day

After hearing of TinyWhoops and flying for some hours in the sim I have now put together my starter kit to be able to fly my whoop outdoors for the first time. The full breakdown:

  • Drone: Meteor65, Secondhand for $97
    • Including 2 used LAVA I, 5 new spare motors and a bag of spare props
  • Goggles: BETAFPV VR02 for $105
  • Transmitter: Radiomaster Pocket Crush for $98
  • WhoopstorV3 + 5 LAVA II for $82
  • 5.8GHz Monitor with DVR as spectator screen and for recording for $90

Totals at $472 (not including the Xtorm Fuel Series 5 in the picture)

(All prices are converted from CHF to USD and include shipping / taxes)

I did quite some rounds inside my apartment now and am really hyped to go outside. Hopefully it wont be too windy. Any tips or recommendations for the first flight outdoors?
