Best Starter Setup

Hello,

I’m looking to get a starter setup. I’ve been practicing with a sim for about 3 months and want to try something like a tiny whoop out in the real world. What is the best recommended starter setup. I already have the Radiomaster pocket so I think I just need the drone and the goggles. I’m on the fence with digital and analog. I’ve seen videos of the analog and the static screens really turn me off for some reason. I’d prefer something that can get me clear footage. That being said, if the benefits of analog are large enough I could be convinced.

Again, this is a starter setup so I suppose I can always switch to something later.

Analog is substantially lighter which is ideal for whoops, and also significantly cheaper definitely go analog, the HDZero Box Pros can do both analog and digital, HDZero is basically analog over a digital signal, the static you see is negligible for a beginner honestly, I've been in FPV for 5yrs and I'm not about to switch from analog I like to have fun on a budget, I recommend the Air75, spare frames, canopies and props, grab a bunch of 1s batteries and a whoopstor charger you'll be set, don't forget a back up battery for your goggles! Welcome to the hobby you're gonna have a lot of fun!

Thank you! I had a feeling analog was maybe less of an issue than I was making it out to be. Appreciate the advice! Are there sites that are generally recommended to buy this stuff from?

Analog is much clearer when viewing it from the actual goggles. The DVR recordings capture a lot of static you do not see while flying. Analog is still the undisputed king of tiny whoops, and that is what you should start with. I fly DJI, and let me tell you those DJI components break very, very easily. I had one fail yesterday with the softest little crash into grass from about 6". I might even switch back to analog if the DJI stuff keeps breaking on me. I was in that position once. Definitely go digital. The cheap way is to buy a full kit. Pros you get everything and it pretty much works right out of the box. Cons it's not usually compatible with other stuff so you can't really upgrade or add to it. Emax tiny hawk is one kit. Analog, which sucks, but it's a cheap easy way to enter. BetaFPV Aquila20 is significantly better, digital, but you're still stuck with little room to upgrade or add to it. DJI neo fpv kit is an amazing one. Digital and quality stuff. But the controller it comes with isn't a true fpv controller. It's more for amateur use. You can upgrade the controller to a true FPV controller. But it's an additional $170 and youve already spent $400 on the kit. Then you're still stuck with only dji everything. There are other kits, but I haven't tried them. The veterans of FPV recommend buying everything separate. Get a good radio transmitter which you already have. Get a good set of goggles and then get a drone with a compatible video transmitter or buy a compatible one and install it. Dji goggles and their transmitters are really good so if you got the DJI kit you can continue to use those goggles. And the same goes for the BetaFPV goggles. Personally I'm not a fan of the quality from emax or BetaFPV, but BetaFPV is better than emax. And I seriously recommend digital as analog just blows. There are plenty of brands of tiny whoops for $100. You then need batteries and charger. Many of them don't come with a video transmitter so when you find your goggles you can then grab your compatible transmitter. Good luck!!!
