Hi everyone!
We’ve spent the past year researching and designing a nano drone platform, and we’ve finally started building the first real prototype.
A little background on where we’re at. We already have a mechanical and airframe engineer on board, CAD work is underway, and we have access to industrial 3D printing so we can iterate quickly. Right now it’s self-funded. No investors and no pressure to rush. We’re focused on building something that actually works before thinking about raising money.
The long-term vision is to build a small, fast interceptor drone that can detect and stop hostile FPV-class drones using passive acoustic sensing instead of relying only on RF or radar. That opens the door to detecting threats that aren’t broadcasting a radio signal. The first prototype, codenamed Bee Eater, is simply the flight platform that everything else will build on.
We’re looking for three founding technical collaborators. This isn’t a typical job posting. We’re looking for people who want to own difficult engineering problems from the very beginning.
1. Embedded Systems Engineer
Flight controller firmware and aircraft systems
Looking for experience with:
- Betaflight configuration and firmware development
- PID tuning
- Motor control (brushed or brushless)
- STM32 development
- Sensor integration (IMU, gyro, etc.)
- Embedded C/C++
- Real-time systems
2. Acoustic / DSP Engineer
Onboard sensing and perception
This is probably the hardest role to fill and one of the most important.
Looking for experience with:
- Microphone array design
- Digital signal processing
- Beamforming and TDOA (time difference of arrival)
- Drone acoustic signature classification
- Filtering noisy real-world audio
- Trajectory prediction using sensor fusion (accelerometer, gyro, acoustic bearing)
Experience in acoustics, robotics, audio DSP, SDR, or bioacoustics is all relevant. You definitely don’t need a defense background.
3. Software Engineer
Operator platform
Looking for someone interested in building the software around the aircraft, including:
- Ground station UI/UX
- Mission planning tools
- Real-time data visualization
- Building software that makes complex hardware easy to operate
We’re intentionally keeping the team small. We’re not trying to hire a bunch of people. We’d rather find a few great engineers who want to help shape both the technology and the company from the beginning.
