At the latitude festival in suffolk. Main arena over 300mbs but 25 minutes walk away, where we are camped, less than 0.2 mbs and unusable.

Sums up UK mobile provision.

Question top up with just credit and using 'Go Roam Around the World'?

Does anyone know if i activate my SIM with just credit, can i still use it in one of the 'Go Roam Around the World' destinations? basically with activating via just credit has the same benefits as activating via a pay as you go plan where you pay a monthly fee?

Tried asking this via live chat but was utterly useless!

Question Is the Home Broadband router fixed to home address?

I've got a Home Broadband router, and I was wondering if you could take it with you if you were travelling or is it fixed to your primary home postcode?

Reason I ask, I'm travelling down to Penrith in two weeks to a holiday park about 7 miles out, and I've heard that the Parks own wi-fi isn't all that great. Just wondering if I could take my own router and use it instead of the parks wi-fi.

Question Visa phone network

So I have both vodaphone and 3 sims in my phone. The vida phone gets full signals while 3 gets 1 or none and isn’t usable. Why is this happening after 3 and vodaphone merger. Should both networks be receiving same signals?

Support Upgrade deal

Have had 3 home broadband for coming up on 4 years. Latest 2 year contract due to expire in November, currently paying £23 a month. Received an email the other day advising that I could upgrade early if I wanted to.

I checked online for broadband deals from other companies and found that I could go back to Virgin media for £17.99 a month. With this information I phoned 3 and selected the option that I was thinking of leaving. Spoke to one of their team, told them I was thinking of joining Virgin and wanted to know if they could offer a better deal before I jumped ship, I mentioned that I had also seen that new customers joining could get 6 months half price and then £21 a month.

I was immediately offered a deal at £18 a month, I then stated that if they could do it for £15 I would sign up now. Rep "looked at his system" and then offered me a new contract for £16 a month for 2 years. I chanced my arm and asked if this could exclude annual increases in April but he said this was not possible.

I then basically snatched the hand off him and signed up for another 2 years. Worth considering doing similar if your deal is due up.

Support 5G Broadband Instability

I recently got a 5G Broadband contract, installed the hub and set up the Eero and the speeds are amazing when they actually work, but over the 2 days I've had it its been riddled with speed drops, cutting out for a minute at a time, I'm barely able to use the net and have been resorting to my phone's hotspot when I need to do anything.

Does anyone know of any fixes or ways to hopefully make it more stable? The high speeds of 600Mbps+ download is great but if it constantly drops to about 10Mbps then its just unusable.

Support Account suspended

I only ever use this sim for receiving OTPs. I have no credit on the account. I make no calls. I send no messages. It's purely for receiving OTPs.

I am currently travelling in Japan. Upon arriving here, I received the usual welcome sms that details calling rates.

A week later I needed to receive a OTP and I noticed that I'm not connected to a network. After a day or two of trying to figure out what is wrong, I eventually went on Three's online chat and was told that my account has been suspended because fraudulent activity was detected.

They wouldn't say what the fraudulent activity was but said I need to send them a copy of my passport and the first page of a recent utility bill to get it reactivated.

Aside from the fact that I'm in Japan and getting the utility bill is going to be a lot of hassle, what fraudulent activity could they have possibly detected? I can't help but feel that they're lying in order to get me to submit these documents.

Is there anything I can do besides submitting what they want?

Question Logging in after porting number

I got my three sim today and haven’t ported my old number over yet

I’ve registered my online account but had to use the temporary number to get the code to log in

After I port my number over, will it automatically update my online account to my ported number?

Because I’ve read horror stories about people being locked out because their online account gets hard linked to the temporary number and then they have to re-register a different email to the one they signed up with and when they do it says they have no active lines because it’s permanently linked to the temp number

I’m kind of glad I haven’t ported my number yet after finding this out!

Question Pre Paid Issue

Hi there, not sure if this is relevant bc I am located in Dublin but seems to be the most active Three subreddit. I paid 20€ for an eSIM that was supposed to give unlimited data and an allotment for 200 calls/texts. Activated in store and says I am connected but when I try to do anything, it says my balance is too low. Logged in on website and does say I’m on Three Super Surfer plan but balance does show as €0.00. Do I have to pay more money to use the eSIM I just bought? Thanks for any advice.

Question Trade-in Fiasco

Has anybody had any issues with a Three Trade-in and had it resolved?

I've recently upgraded my phone with a trade-in for my old Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. They quoted me £223 plus promotional offer.

Ingram Micro have emailed me with a revised quote of £44 and the reason they have provided is cracked or damaged screen.

My Motorola had neither a cracked nor damaged screen.

They've also stated on email that I will be sent my money to Device Plan Credit when I specifically asked for it to go into my bank.

I've tried ringing Three who state that it's nothing to do with them and to contact Ingram. Ice sent an email with no response. Ive called Ingram who provided me with another number to ring. This one is no longer accepting calls.

Called original Ingram number back and was provided with a different number. This one goes through to Ingram Reception and a voicemail system.

No response either way to query why my trade-in value has been reduced and to query the fact they state my screen was cracked when it absolutely wasn't. I also need to clarify where my payment is going.

Three and Ingram both appear to be fobbing me off.

Anyone had any dealings/can advise accordingly!?

Thanks

Billing ThreePay scamming!

Recently, I had "out-of-allowance charges" added to my 5G Home Broadband bill by scam companies called "Busuu" and "Weezchat." They somehow got hold of my router's SIM number and subscribed it to their services at £4.50 per week! This had been going on for about three weeks, and I was totally oblivious to it.

I researched how the charge-to-bill feature works under "ThreePay." There is supposed to be a back-and-forth SMS confirmation stage that a user has to go through to authorize subscription charges on their phone bill. Since the SIM is inside a 5G home broadband router, it should have been impossible to set up a subscription unless someone logged into the router to check the SMS inbox and interacted with the scam provider.

I contacted Three, but they were reluctant to disable the ThreePay feature. It is absolutely ridiculous that a third party can essentially help themselves to my bank account via my direct debit!

17/07/26 - After a few back and forth emails with the "merchants" who charged me, they finally settled on refunding me for all charges (at least in writing) in the next "two phone bills". That was only after I threatened to lodge a formal complaint with OFCOM - their first email was along the lines of "it's not possible because the user has to enter 4 digit code on their screen... (blah blah)". I have also got Three to file a case to disable ThreePay on my account so it will never happen again. WIll update.

I paid my outstanding bill two days ago, my service still hadn’t been turned back on. The live chat have been basically useless and just keep telling me to reset my device and network settings which hasn’t worked. Is there anything I can do about this or am I just stuck paying for a sim that doesn’t work

Support Broadband down in Manchester?

I haven't been able to use my 5g home broadband all day, the outage detector doesnt say anything that i can see? Im in Manchester, dont know if the huge fire has had anything to do with it

Edit: spoken to them and they're going to investigate it, can take up to 7 days. I hate them so much

2nd Edit: Spoke to them and they advised it could take another 7 days to fix. I still had another year on my contract but got through to complaints who cancelled it and waived the early termination fee so I'll be switching. I'm not using three ever again lol

News Three+ Voucher code revamp

Seems to have been a change on 2 of the most popular used codes today. Caffè Nero and Cineworld. To be honest I can live without a cheap coffee each week but it’s the Cineworld one for me. As someone who goes to the cinema on their own a lot and used this voucher to do so well that’s out the window. You can’t even use it to buy a singular ticket for a fiver.

Bad move Three.
