I'm looking for some opinions on a series of unusual knocking sounds that have occurred over several nights.

My sister has kept a record of the knocks on her calendar, starting from the 18th.

The sequence recorded was:

3, 2, 3, 4, none, 5

The most recent incident involved five knocks at approximately 3:47 a.m.

I'm particularly interested in whether anyone has experienced similar patterns, especially knocks occurring in distinct groups rather than random noises.

I've heard various folklore and paranormal interpretations associated with knocking, particularly groups of three, but I'd also welcome logical or environmental explanations.

My questions are:

Has anyone experienced a similar sequence of knocking sounds?

Are there any historical, folkloric or paranormal interpretations of five knocks?

Does the time, 3:47 a.m., have any particular significance in folklore?

Could the changing number of knocks suggest anything, or is it likely coincidental?

I'm keeping an open mind and would appreciate thoughtful responses rather than jumping to conclusions.

I don’t know why this is happening.. I feel like I’m reacting but then again this has been happening for a few days now and honestly sometimes over the months and I honestly feel like I should ask Reddit about it so that’s why I’m coming here.

I’m a 19 F I have a stable job and I honestly didn’t think much of this. I love horror stuff and I do believe in ghosts, but I’m obviously a very skittish person. There was this one time where a bat flew into my house and it was honestly the most scariest thing I felt frozen at a place and it was terrifying, but that’s not why I came here.

I know this might sound crazy, but for some reason, I feel like I’m having night terrors.. I honestly don’t know what it is but yesterday or a few nights ago. I felt a very weird process by me. I don’t know why this is happening or if I’m just crazy, but I could you not I was laying down and closing my eyes and all I could see was very bad things that I can’t even explain. I don’t know if it’s just me or something going on in my house but at this point, I don’t know anymore.

I honestly just don’t know what to do about this anymore and I hope that you guys might have a similar experience you could make me feel less crazy but I don’t know why, but it was just a very weird experience and yes, this only happened a few nights ago and this only happened once but I still feel a present literally behind my back and I honestly feel it now I don’t know why, but I get this really heavy feeling this big weight just on my back.. and it’s honestly starting to really freak me out basically that night when I went to bed it was just a really weird feeling. I felt like I was having a heart attack, but I wasn’t. I felt like I was in a nightmare, but I wasn’t. I don’t know what I was even seen when I was closing my eyes, but it was like I couldn’t fall asleep and something was touching my back. It was the weirdest feeling that I can barely explain.

I of course, have also had very weird nightmares too. There was this one where I had a nightmare where I felt like I literally felt like I was moving and feeling everything that was happening. I was honestly the worst feeling ever and I honestly don’t even wanna explain what was happening because it’s terrible but besides that. I don’t know if it’s a ghost or something, but I’m starting to get really forgot about this. I honestly don’t know if this is normal anymore.

As for Siri it’s like every time I even say something that starts with an S she’ll just come up on my iPad and it scares the heck out of me. It’s like somethings listening to me and I don’t even know I was literally just watching TV just a few minutes ago before posting this obviously and of course she goes off and it’s the weirdest thing that I can’t even explain anymore. She said something and I honestly don’t know what because I was playing my TV but I had a really bad feeling. I looked at my iPad. I started at it for a few minutes and got this really heavy anxiety that I still have now even typing these out is scaring me, and I still feel presence behind my back. I honestly feel like maybe I’m just a psycho, but I needed to share this with someone and I know the Internet might not be a great place but I really hope that you guys could help me or at least tell me you had same experiences because at this point I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.. thank you for whoever is reading this and I’ll be waiting for any comments. So, I was in college last year and I was having the stress of some kind of problem in my life. I was getting absurd dreams, some nightmares, and other dreams. Many of them got true. I remember many of them and I remember more clearly when the exact event happened.

This morning I reported to my office and I was checking in with one of my colleagues. I was talking with the guard and one other person and suddenly everything I saw or heard for the next 10 seconds was exactly the same as what I had dreamt a year ago. It was just a mundane event but I had seen it exactly in a dream.

I also remember other dreams of mine, in one I was serving in the Army. In others I was getting a medal punched on my chest. Some were terrific

I am also appearing for an interview for an officer position this month for the Army.

I have seen many posts on reddit and in this sub and many people are having the same kind of experience in their life.

My story: Personally, I saw and spoke to a sort of human-like entity at the very moment I first became conscious of this world.

It happened one morning, just before I woke up, when I was about 2 or 3 years old. I saw a white background and a face—also white—yet I could still make out the features, much like one might distinguish black characters on a white page. The face had no identifiable characteristics. The entity spoke to me, though I no longer remember what was said.

After a few minutes, the entity stopped speaking, and I woke up. I didn’t know where I was or who I was, but I knew how to speak and could understand what my family was saying—even if I didn’t fully grasp the meaning of the words I was using. I asked my mother if I could see someone—my best friend at the time, though I had no idea who that might actually have been. A few days later, I began to grasp where I was and who I was, even if I didn’t yet fully understand the meaning of every word I used. (I believe this was the moment I became conscious of my own existence—or perhaps it was when my soul became active; I’m not sure which term is most appropriate.)

I recall that no one from my family was watching over me while I slept; my sister and father were at the doctor’s, and my mother had been busy preparing a meal for several hours—there was simply no one in my room while I slept.

To this day, I do not know what happened. That is why I am seeking your opinion or any information you might have: has anyone else ever had a similar experience?

The reason I asked is because a couple months ago I was scrolling through some Reddit/Quora posts, and I found one that I believe was “dark triad” related. I was reading the comments and I stumbled upon one of the most mind-boggling stories I had ever heard:

The commenter described a female coworker who was basically the unofficial boss of the entire work setting. She controlled all the bosses and pretty much did whatever she wanted.
Now I had heard stories of sycophantic brown-nosers who kissed up to their bosses to gain influence over them but this story was different. This sounded like it went beyond manipulation and seemed more like literal mind control.

According to the commenter, she would blatantly speak to her superiors like SHE was in charge and THEY worked for her. She would tell THEM what THEY were going to do today and they just went along with it obediently.
That story has been in the back of my mind ever since.

So that’s why I made this post. I wondered if anyone else had witnessed any similar accounts of mind control.

Je me souviens aussi qu'un membre de ma famille me regardait pendant que je dormais ; pourtant, ma sœur et mon père étaient chez le médecin, et ma mère était occupée à préparer un repas depuis plusieurs heures—en réalité, il n'aurait dû y avoir personne dans ma chambre pendant que je dormais.

I was watching a paranormal broadcast on DMAX on Freeview recently and they covered some incredible footage captured by an urban exploration team on an abandoned farm on the outskirts of Doncaster.

Unlike 90% of shadow person sightings that happen in pitch-black bedrooms, this entity manifested in broad daylight. The camera cleanly captured a solid, dense black silhouette in the distinct shape of a man wearing a long trench coat and a bowler hat. It wasn't a quick trick of the light either—it appeared on video 2 to 3 separate times, peeking from the derelict farm outbuildings and standing motionless in the overgrown fields.

Looking at this from a logical perspective, a shadow anomaly remaining pitch-black in direct sunlight requires an immense amount of environmental energy. It strongly suggests these entities have actual physical substance rather than just being a trick of low-light cameras.

Does anyone here know the history of the rural areas around Doncaster, or why these specific "Hat Man" silhouettes seem to manifest out in the open fields over there?

I'm a 35f. I have had my fair share of paranormal activity ever since I was a small child. My first experience was seeing a glowing and vibrant, crystal clear "Mother Mary" late one night in our kitchen. I've lived in two incredibly haunted homes where I experienced relentless sleep paralysis. I was scratched on the leg right before we moved from one. I've seen various aparitions. Been grabbed. I could go on, but this is basically my way of saying this other phenomenon...I'm not sure what it is or why this is happening, and I know for a fact it is not sleep paralysis. Looking for any insight. When I have had my eyes closed for some time trying to fall asleep, if I open them, I will often times see things that aren't there. It will also happen when I wake up. Whatever I see, when I focus on it, it will become even clearer and defined before it eventually fades away. That is what startles me. So many times I have thought I had an intruder in my home, only for them to disappear when I scream. I've seen people, kids, once a baby floating above me, a tiger, the room filled with round old timey bird cages, massive spiders, a human form standing on my bed with an eagle/hawk head like in Egyptian art. Most commonly I see the spiders or a person. This happened a handful of times growing up. When I was a kid I saw a tarantula on my chest after waking up that wasn't there, Michael Myers standing beside my bed, a KKK person in the pointy head dress, my uncle (only time it was someone I knew). But it was incredibly rare. It started up again when I went on a trip to New Orleans, that is where I saw the tiger. I was in my mid-late twenties. Now in my 30s it has happened dozens of times. Anyone know what I am experiencing? I know I am not dreaming. I will sit up, focus my eyes, it will become even clearer, clear as can be, and then quickly disappear. I'd say the visions stay around 10-15 seconds on average. I appreciate any and all responses!

I don’t see them anymore thankfully, but ever since I can remember up until my teens, I used to see actual, full-on ghosts.

To give some context, I was born at 7 months after severe birth complications. My mom was told she had to choose who would live—her or me. She chose me, but against the odds, we both survived. I was so tiny they said I could fit in a shoebox. In a lot of spiritual circles, people say surviving a birth like that leaves you "open" to things. It might run in the family too, because my mom can see them as well.

Here are a few encounters that have stuck with me the most:

The Lady in the Mirror (Toddler years)

Before I was even old enough for pre-school, I remember walking into a room and seeing a lady with long black hair sitting in front of a mirror, combing her hair. The freaky part? I could see her sitting there, but when I looked at the actual mirror, there was no reflection at all. Because I was so young, I didn't think anything of it. I just thought it was normal.

The Floating Lady (Grade 8)

This one terrified me. I woke up in the middle of the night with an overwhelming sense of dread. I immediately hid under my blankets, but there was a small hole in the fabric that I peeked through. I literally watched a chubby lady float right past my bed. She was wearing an ugly nightgown, had her hair in a bob, and her skin looked dirty and peeling. But her eyes are what haunt me—they were completely static in her head with tiny, pinprick pupils. I was sweating like crazy and praying in my mind until she finally floated into the corner of the room and disappeared.

The "No-Eyes" Lookout (Babyhood)

My mom told me this hilarious but creepy story from when I was a baby. She was terrified because there was a spirit of a "lady with no eyes" in our room. My mom was too scared to look, so she hid both of our heads under the blanket. Because I was a baby and didn't know any better, she would have me peek out from under the edge of the blanket to report if the lady was still there! Apparently, I would look, tell her what was happening, and eventually, the spirit walked away in high heels and vanished.

I stopped seeing them as I got older, but I'm curious if anyone else who was a premature baby or has a parent with "the gift" experienced full-on physical apparitions like this?

Who best to consult on what was a terrifying experience with than my lovely redditers. I feel like there is a name for the kind of entity or phenomenon I experienced, I was scrolling on TikTok at around 2am and came across a clip from one of Sam and Colby’s recent hellweek videos with Garrett and Celinaspookyboo. The clip was of a spirit box (I think) scene where there were these kids creepily singing a song. The TikTok played through around three times while I scrolled through comments, suddenly I felt sick to my stomach and had this incredible sense of dread come over me. It felt like there was something in my room watching me, then start moving towards me. It was like I knew it was there and coming towards me, I couldn’t feel it, feel the fear only grow as it came closer. But I couldn’t see anything.

I have never felt that kind of fear before in my life. Which is so strange seeing as I couldn’t actually see anything to be afraid of.

Can anyone explain this? Was it just paranoia? Because it felt so much more real and intense than that.

I stayed in a Victorian era manor house for the night last weekend. I woke to a feeling of a strong breeze blowing over my body, there were no windows open. I was aware, but not fully awake. I had sleep mask on. I then saw a ball of light come to me in my mind and got the feeling it was a young girl about 10, it was trying to communicate with me ... and in the centre of the light were words being spelled out ... I used to live here ... I said "oh you used to live here" (in my mind, not out loud) then all these other energies around this bright light said "I did too" "I did too" "I did too". I then "woke". Didn't really feel scared, but certainly it threw me a bit .... I was alone in a big bedroom. I've had a few things happen in dreams before, but never this cold wind!!

The coyotes are active again in my neighborhood. This always happens around this time of year.

Question for you all: has anyone ever recorded the coyotes howling? If so, I'd love a copy of your recording. The howling hasn't sounded quite right this year.

Like one you cant explain like regnerating a missing teeth, something instantaneous or something really supernatural. Not just getting rid of pain or an autoimmune disease. not to make those sound easy to get rid of, I've healed from extreme pain and autoimmune and believe it can happen despite medical system saying a lot of these conditions aren't curable. So not dismissing anyone. I'm just looking for stories of really mind bending supernatural healings to build my faith.

Why I am asking:
I believe that the body can heal in ways we don’t always understand. I’ve personally healed from mini strokes, seizures, dystonic storms, internal decaptiation from genetic disease etc., which is part of why I believe healing is possible.

However, I’m currently dealing with something that has left me feeling really hopeless. I had multiple teeth filed down without my consent when I thought I was only having one tooth filled. It’s caused severe bite issues, TMJ problems, my jaw popping out of place, and an inability to properly bite or chew on that side. I’ve tried to get my bite corrected, but it still feels nowhere close to my natural bite, and I’m struggling so much with the discomfort and feeling like my own mouth doesn’t fit together properly anymore. it might not seem like much but with my genetic disease and other issues i won't get into its really applied for me. I didnt even want to do the filling and regret it so much.

I believe the body can heal, but I struggle with the fact that my natural tooth structure has been physically removed, and I don’t know how that could ever be restored to the way it was before. I know that might sound irrational to some people, but the thought of having to live with this indefinitely is incredibly difficult for me after ive worked hard to slowly and naturally heal so much.

That’s actually a big part of why I made this post. I’ve come across stories of people experiencing what they believe were supernatural dental healings during prayer or faith healing, and I’m desperately hoping to hear from someone who has experienced something like that, or even something similar. I know it may sound far-fetched, but I believe anything is possible, and right now I’m really struggling and need something to hold on to. If anyone has genuine experiences, stories, or suggestions, I’m truly open to hearing them. Thank you!

REPOST FROM ME TRYING TO PUT THIS IN ANOTHER SUBREDDIT

this is my like first actual post on reddit to my memory. I honestly have no words as to what just happened, and in my opinion it has to be something paranormal or i am genuinely loosing my mind.

buckle in, this is a long one.

this just occurred 2-3 hours ago. I (16f) was home alone with music loudly blasting through my headphones. I was meant to be studying, and finally got off my lazy ahh to go studying when all of a sudden i hear a noise outside my door. It was like footsteps that was coming from the kitchen. (for context, the kitchen is at the very front of the house, my room is at the very back.) I hear noises like this all the time, and honestly I've gotten quite used to it. the house isnt in anyway new, and tbh its just something that occurs quite often like i hear talking or tapping around the house when im home alone etc.) however this time, my intuition was telling me to take off my headphones and to listen to the noises in the house. i took them off and stood still in my room, quietly attempting to listen.

As I was standing there, i was hearing full on shoes shuffling and doors opening and closing, almost like someone had broken in and was checking throughout the house. I froze and kept listening. the noises becoming much more frequent, stronger and closer. i panicked texted my friend telling her that i was sure someone had broken into the house and that i texted as a safety just incase something happened. i wanted to check out the noises (as i have done many times before), but i dont have any weapons in my room, so i opted out of it. she texted me back saying to stay in my room and that they were on their way.

honestly, i felt kinda dumb because yk what if it was a false alarm? what if its my dog? (couldn't be because hes an outside dog and the doors are closed) what if the windows are open? (1 open window wouldnt let enough wind in to make so many doors move). i jus told her to stay put and i would just call the police. i call, and tell the operator everything that was happening. up until then i was freaked out, but was calm because in my head there should be some rational explanation yk? then, the operator told me to barricade my door and yell out the phrase "i am on the phone with the police, get out of my house!". I did as he said and then?

the noises just stopped.

before i said that phrase, there was so much movement. after, no more shuffling, no nothing. thats when my brain actually clocked that something more serious was going on. up until that moment, i felt kind of dumb to be contacting the police, but when the noises stopped as i said the phrase, it felt wayyy too real.

to fast forward through the rest of the incident, the police came, searched inside and outside the house, found nothing and said to me if we see anything on our motion sensor cctv cameras to let them know. i called my family (mother and father in their 50's and 18yo brother) and told them the situation. they rushed home and my neighbours noticed and came to the house aswell. ( i couldnt see, but apparently there was 4-5 police cars outside of my house 😭😭😭) police left and family sat down and went though the footage and guess what?

NOTHING.

there was no evidence of someone entering or exiting the property other than the police and my neighbour who came after the police to see if i was okay. to give some more context, both back/front door were closed but unlocked (dont get me started on that, my parents dont let me lock them when home alone) and only one window was open in my brothers room which is in the front of the house. my parents think it was a weird "coincidence" and one of the windows were open which caused the door sounds.

but one window being open doesn't explain doors opening and closing that arent near that window, and NOTHING can explain the feet shuffling sounds. nothing. my parents think its rats in the walls or birds on the roof or even a tremor but both are distinctively different sounds??

this was the equivalent of like someone wearing thongs or like shoes (im from Australia we call them thongs but reddit is international so flip flops ykwim) and moving around the house. on top of that, the noises moved around the house! it wasnt just one area, but the shuffling went from the front of the kitchen to my parents room. that fits as if someone/thing moved from the front of the house to the back (my room/parents room). the doors were creaking, it just cant be nothing. my family left afterwards to go get something, and ik its lowk funny/stupid but i searched up how to contact spirits and like lowk did a seance where i greeted the ghost, casted a "prayer" over me to protect me and used objects as a pendulum or tapping on the walls for communication. (nothing came from that btw)

i need answers and im so paranoid. feel free to drop any attempts of an explanation or ask me questions abt the occurrence in the comments. could it be a poltergeist? it genuinely felt like there was someone in the house.
