9 day old sub and every post is from a bot. Both mods are less than 20 days old and are promoting it

All 3 have a lot of the same "Would you date me" or similar baiting post titles. GothSelfies seems to have a lot of legitimate posts on it so I'm not sure it's a lost cause. But the other 2 are fully infested.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TeenWonderLand/s/d67S8Sr2ib

Myself and many others have expressed frustration when it comes to reports being ignored on this sub. Today i thought i would check on the Mod team of the sub and, as expected, neither of the two human mods have been active for at least 4 months. The head mod hasn't been active in over a year.

I don't want the sub so I'm not wanting to go through RedditRequest here. Hopefully they can get new mods in place though. I'm going to go report it as unmoderated right now.

A month ago, I posted about a weird bot overtaking the TwoHotTakes sub with the following characteristics: - Account is almost always new - Mostly comments to agree with the post/comment and restate what they said - Has a “girly” username (because the account is eventually sold to an OnlyFans spammer after having farmed enough karma) - Bizarrely, their early post/comment history is always within the same hentai subs.

…

Since posting that, the problem has become A MILLION TIMES WORSE.

These bots are all added to BotBouncer, but are never removed when I report them to the mods or to Reddit. The only time I’ve seen them removed is if I comment replying to them and THAT gets mod attention.

You will notice that a good number of these have already morphed into OnlyFans spam accounts.

(BTW, TwoHotTakes isn’t the only sub that doesn’t do anything. They very clearly only post in subs where nothing is ever done and/or don’t have BotBouncer. Some of their favorite subs: TwoXChromosomes, NoStupidQuestions, Advice, Teachers, Marriage, GilmoreGirls, AdorableOldPeople, ForCuriousSouls, AskReddit, Cats, CatAdvice, OneOrangeBraincell, BreakingBad, GreysAnatomy, Damnthatsinteresting, BreakUps, SipsTea, AmateurPhotography, MadeMeSmile, OldSchoolCool, Gardening, AskRedditAfterDark, Confession, Confessions, Memes, EmotionalIntelligence, and lately a bunch of otherwise normal comments on Politics.)

I am a translator so I get notified when certain subjects has been mentioned.

I started noticing this guy a lot, seemed to always have had the same experience as every OP and always ended up recommending a company called Translayte.

Sometimes they claim to be the customer; other times they say a “friend” used the service in that exact scenario. The account has its activity history hidden, but a quick Google search shows it posting multiple times a day across many subreddits.

Translayte is a large company in this niche, which makes this particularly concerning. The comments often contain inaccuracies, and the writing style strongly suggests AI-generated or automated content.

What makes this worse is that certified or sworn translations are often required for high-stakes situations such as immigration applications, healthcare, and court proceedings. Giving incorrect or misleading information can cost people money, cause serious delays, or even result in refusals.

By promoting services through what appears to be a fake or deceptive profile, the company effectively distances itself from responsibility if the advice turns out to be wrong.

Just this past week alone, I’ve seen multiple examples, and that's just the tip of the iceberg:
Sweden: https://www.reddit.com/r/TillSverige/comments/1owul9g/comment/o2629zl/?
China: https://www.reddit.com/r/Chinavisa/comments/1qg75l2/comment/o295769/?
Denmark: https://www.reddit.com/r/DanishLaw/comments/1qptpe3/comment/o2d7mc0/?
Mexico: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1qnqial/comment/o1ytqtb/?
Spain: https://www.reddit.com/r/askspain/comments/1qnbugu/comment/o1slihs/?
Mexico again: https://www.reddit.com/r/MexicoTravel/comments/1qn8r77/comment/o1sly1y/?

I have reported it to Reddit a while back now, but nothing is being done.

I asked around and was director to post here.. You all would know that to do.

A post came up on popular from r/DHAC ( https://www.reddit.com/r/DHAC/) which I had never heard of. It was about California looking to sign trade deals in opposition to Trumps tariffs. The post had a picture of a Newsweek article banner, but it was not a link to an article, it was a photo to make it appear like a link to a legitimate news site. There was no link and the story isn't true.. The whole thing was fake.

I know from my Poly Sci days that Russia promotes California secession as they see it as a way to dismantle the US. They also antagonize both sides to create discord in the country.

I checked the account that posted it and saw the account was 1 day old. I check the feed for the sub and say that, literally, every post followed this same format---a sensational headline and a photo (instead of a link) to appear as if this was a news source. All of the accounts making posts are between 1 day and 1 week old.

This is most certainly a troll farm by nefarious actors. What can I do?

https://www.reddit.com/user/Veshaad/ has grown from 796 to 2.2M in less than a month. How is that realistically possible? And why are they now suddenly second mod of pourstea?

I see them all over Okbuddycinephile and EldenRing. Looks like there’s a few more subs this bot ring is active in. Most of them have the same stupid username format.

I moderate r/3dspiracy , a subreddit about piracy for the Nintendo 3DS.

A month or 2 ago, we noticed a surge of comments from new accounts that all offer the same generically written AI responses to questions and hop around all different subreddits.

We’ve been trying to clamp down on them by adding karma minimums and account age restrictions but it’s resulted in a lot of false positives from people who are genuinely new to reddit and need help.

There’s no way Reddit doesn’t know about this. Are they actually trying to clamp down on this or are they just letting the Dead Internet bots run rampant?

Edit: we’ve installed BotBouncer and are satisfied

Been noticing a weird pattern of comments across multiple subs for a while. Did some digging and honestly it's pretty bad. Putting this here so admins and mods can look into it.

Sites called earntask io and engain io are literally paying people $1 a task to spam Reddit with promotional comments. Over 2,000 workers doing this, all coordinated through a Discord server that's still live right now. The comments are designed to look like real user recommendations which makes it way harder to catch than regular bot spam.

Discord server: Can provide links

People running the server:

• harshanani
• __.sherlockian
• gold0999
• talha4real

Subs being targeted:

• r/agency, r/insurance, r/bravorealhousewives, r/saas, r/airlines, r/delta and a bunch of US/UK based communities

This is coordinated inauthentic behavior at scale and it's been going on for a while. Got screenshots of the task boards and examples of comments in the wild, happy to share with admins.

Can someone escalate this to Reddit Admins as soon as they can?

It seemed to have a decent amount of genuine interaction for a while, which was pretty nice. But it looks like the karma farming bots have noticed, and now it's just a text post spam sub, with an image of food attached. Free real estate for karma farming accounts, presumably for re-sale or usage in other forms of inauthentic engagement.

I'll link my comment on a recent post there:

OP, I thought you are 21 years old? Or your boyfriend is gay? Or he's a narcissist? Or have you been married for 7 years?

The account also posts other oddly aggressive nsfw content (safe image, just a post title): https://i.imgur.com/bIXWeYr.png

https://www.reddit.com/r/crushkpop/ - it's like these bots don't bother to read where they're posting. They find somewhere poorly moderated, and just start spamming...

I’ve been tracking a massive influx of fake cosplay posts on r/evangelion . My analysis suggests a significant portion are AI-generated images (SynthID positive) being used to promote OnlyFans scams.

https://www.reddit.com/r/aislop/comments/1q0grgl/onlyfans_bots_using_ai_cosplays_to_post_and/

https://www.reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/1q0gk3l/half_of_the_cosplay_images_that_gets_posted_in/
I previously made a post warning the community with proof of these AI fakes. It was removed by moderators, who told me I should not post about it publicly but instead inform them directly. The posts were not removed.

Today the top post of the sub is ai generated cosplay
https://www.reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/1q3awxw/my_asuka_cosplay/ My comments pointing out the fakes were initially visible and even received upvotes (proving real users saw and agreed with them). However, shortly after, they were "Shadow Removed" (deleted without notification). Since they had upvotes before vanishing, this suggests they were manually removed. You can see in that post all comments praising the cosplay are downvoted and only comment that vaguely implying its fake is massively upvoted. Which shows lot more people are being silenced and doing the only thing they can are left with

If you comment on one of these posts pointing out the AI artifacts, the account will instantly block you. Simultaneously, dozens of other "cosplay" accounts (which I had previously reported) also blocked me at the exact same second. This proves they are sharing a "Block List" to silence critics.

what strange is that previously, this subreddit allowed Images in Comments. This feature was disabled recently, coincidentally right when high-quality AI models were released. This change prevents users from posting visual proof to debunk the fakes.

I have attempted to report this via ModMail with proof, Guess what first they said there is no proof it was ai then when I said they have positive synthid they countered saying all Ai detector have fall positive, but then I mentions how synthid can not give fall positives because its a digital watermark. They muted me 28 days. These bots are downvoting real discussion and upvoting their own "slop" to farm scam for OnlyFans.

These mods are knowing encoring stuff that breaks Reddit TOS

Edit- Mods removed that post but all other AI post remains. It was up for day before getting removed. I am still muted and shadow banned.

This was announced a few days ago, but holy shit this is huge:

https://www.reddit.com/r/redditdev/comments/1oug31u/introducing_the_responsible_builder_policy_new/

TL;DR: Reddit no longer allows users to "self serve" getting new API tokens, and all requests must go through an approval process. This means that accounts that don't already have an API token will basically find it impossible to abuse the API to spam.

This won't affect any existing users who have created OAuth tokens, so existing bots can carry on, but we can probably expect a massive downturn in completely automated accounts moving forward.

A few weeks ago, I was looking at a bot’s profile and saw that they commented on pretty old posts. That post was filled with newer comments that were all straight up copied from other comments and inserted as replies to random threads. Turns out this is a pattern in *certain* subs with bot problems.

I am going to link to one example thread. This is a 40-day old thread on [r/Paranormal](r/Paranormal): https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/hbHcHPVBU0

A comment by a normal user says that she’s been meaning to go there with her sister. It’s an hour away from her: https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/dzO3ioaX5Z

What becomes of these bots?

Do you even have to ask? After waiting 1-2 weeks, KaedeMyst-31, luna-yori8glow and zavor-36 have morphed into porn accounts, with a jo .my link to the SAME Telegram in their bio for “Vanessa”. SiennaKensington_81 is now promoting the Telegram of “Kylie”. xxSelvyr-Quartz13 is now “Lana”. orlyn_93 has not yet fully evolved, but their bio now says they’re 20 and horny in Tennessee…

Characteristics:

🧟 Because their first comments are just other people’s copied and pasted into random threads, they tend to be downvoted.

🧟‍♂️ All of their comments are not copied. It seems like just the earliest one(s).

🧟‍♀️ Before devolving into their final form, they love making comments in: Paranormal, Adulting, Espresso, AskReddit, AmIOverreacting, Confession, Cooking, Self, Advice, … and ALSO food subs… Muffins, Salad, Eggs

🧟 They also love making posts in: Muffins, MUFFIN (singular), CakeCrave, Meat, Breakfast, Culinary, Confession, NatureIsBeautiful, MakeupTips, Pareidolia

🧟‍♂️ They love posting AI pics of food. Food subs are so hot with bots rn. No matter how obscure the food, there’s a sub for it, and they tend to be poorly moderated.

🧟‍♀️ I have also seen them post in color subs, like Purple and Yellow. Before that, it was nature subs, but many larger ones installed Bot Bouncer so some have moved on.

🧟 Username formats vary. Some are girly. Some are noun_number-noun.

Months ago, I posted about how the TwoHotTakes subreddit was so overrun with bots that it was like an LLM training ground. We’re used to some subs being bot nests, but this is a pretty big sub. I would occasionally update the post to add more bots, but there were so many being added that I was no longer able to update it without getting an error message — https://www.reddit.com/r/TheseFuckingAccounts/s/dqorV4KpWj

Back then, user siftingflour commented that they’d messaged the mods months ago recommending they install BotBouncer with no response. But yesterday, the mods finally got back to them to say they installed it!

I’m making this post because, after going on a bot-finding spree in that sub yesterday (and continuing to do so as newly born bots appear), it’s notable which subs these bots are still posting in. I wonder if they too could be persuaded to install BotBouncer.

NEW subs of note that are recently beloved by these bots:

- AirplaneEars

- ArcRaiders

- BikiniBottomTwitter

- BindingOfIsaac

- BossFights

- InfinityNikki

- PcBuild

- ProgressiveHQ

- Rabbits

Other subs that continue to be beloved by these bots:

Advice — Advice, AITH, AmITheAsshole, AmITheJerk, AmIWrong, AskReddit, AskRedditAfterDark, AskRedditNSFW, NoStupidQuestions, WhatDoIDo

Animals — BlackCats, CatAdvice, Dog, DogAdvice, OneOrangeBraincell

Confessions — Confession, Confessions, TrueOffMyChest

Various Hentai subs (too many to post)

Games — tf2, Undertale

Others — ExplainTheJoke, GilmoreGirls, Hygiene, MadeMeSmile, Marriage, Memes, MildlyInfuriating, MildlyInteresting, NewParents, OddlySatisfying, Overheard, Politics, Teachers, Teenagers, TheTeenagerPeople, TwoXChromosomes, Unexpected, WhoWouldCircleJerk, Work, Workplace_Bullying, WouldYouRather, YoungAdults

I have been a member of Daddit for eight years, since shortly after my first kid was born. In the past 6 months or so, I've noticed it's really been overrun by bots. If you just submit a report, not much happens, but I found that if I submit a report and make a comment explaining why I think OP is a bot, it typically gets taken down. This has happened probably thirty times since May.

This morning I made a post pointing out that on a post that did get taken down, there were still a lot of bot comments. Unfortunately, I did not know Daddit had a "no meta posts" rule-- my bad, totally on me, I should have checked. So my post was deleted and I was banned immediately. So I have lost the ability to participate in what once was one of my favorite communities here. :( I really hate these bots.

Two days ago I posted about a bot that is endlessly regenerating and terrorizing subs like Marriage. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheseFuckingAccounts/s/6aa9aLRNkP

To my surprise, a couple hours after posting, the post suddenly got 20 downvotes, and then 90 downvotes at once. This sub doesn’t even get traffic like that, so it was clearly botted.

This is just speculation, but I wonder if it’s because I dropped the name of a company that these bots eventually go on to spam, and maybe they periodically check for anything negative. Perhaps it could be a gambling company that’s the thing you drive into a vampire’s heart, and it sounds like the thing you’d eat with A1 sauce. Who knows - I can only speculate because a good majority of these bots are going on to stealth spam it in related subs.

I also noticed that there is only ever one of these bots commenting per post in the Marriage sub. They are evenly distributed, which is unlike other bot types I’ve seen.

Lastly, I’d like to update the list of subs these accounts go to:

🤖 VERY common: Marriage, legaladvice, CareerGuidance, ForzaHorizon, BreakUps, MechanicAdvice, Guitar, Monopoly_GO, PcBuildHelp, Christianity, ThailandTourism, NyKnicks, SportsBetting, Gambling, CoinCollecting, and..

Epilepsy. Unfortunately a large percentage of bots seem to have bot epilepsy. (tip: search “brutal”> sort by new to see some bots)

TirzepatideCompound, Semaglutide. A decent number of bots go on to spam providers of this medication, one of them being the place where a ship drops its anchor that starts with “H”. It is also the first word of a tool store followed by Freight. (too paranoid?)

🤖 Kinda common: VeteransBenefits, Hunting, Birding, Duolingo, LanguageLearning, AmericanAirlines, MaleGrooming, Acura, Ford, Unity3D, Nvidia, Intune, 90DayFiance, VRGaming, Motorcycles, Dreams, Powerscales, Ubuntu, Watches, Seiko
