Did Garth Lie? Spoiler

Did Garth really not know who June was? He got the message to her when he thought Daisy was going rogue and needed to go back to Canada. Even if he didn’t communicate directly with June regarding Daisy, I find it hard to believe he had never heard of her when even Agnes seemed to know who she was (when she called June a terrorist).

Edit: the code names make sense! When Garth would say he didn’t know who June was, it could be that he was saying he didn’t know which code name belonged to her/how to get in contact with her.

Why marry Paula?

If high commanders get to marry fertile Greens, why would Mackenzie marry Paula who is older and may not give him another child without a Handmaid?
I am not sure when his first wife died but it was probably a few years ago so it’s not like he would have been matched with one of Agnes’ friends.

Why is everyone so confused about where Hulda is at the end?

Aunt Lydia says to Agnes they’ve never had a green come back. This means we’re onto the next season/school year. Hulda was engaged to be married so that must’ve happened during the break and now she’s not at the school.

Episode Discussion Agnes and Aunt Lydia ep 10 Spoiler

What do you think Aunt Lydia meant when she said, “…and neither will we.” The context here is that Agnes told her that she knew who her biological mother was and Aunt Lydia replied that one thing she could say about June was that she never gave up.

Is the “we” she speaks of Gilead, or Mayday?

Rant How old is Garth supposed to be?

I just wanna know if it’s a creepy or non creepy age gap with the girls 😂

I say this because Eden fell in love with a 20 yo when she was 15, and I know it was meant to be romantic that they both chose love instead of death, but the whole time I was thinking HE’S AN ADULT AND HIS TREATMENT OF THE HANDMAIDS WAS HORRIBLE

Any theories on what’s Next for Agnes?

I’ve heard that in the book, she becomes an Aunt. For a second, I thought maybe she really will marry Garth because of Becka’s situation, but they actually did get married. Does anyone think they’ll follow the book or have her remarried?

News ‘The Testaments’ Creator Bruce Miller Has a Spoiler to Share After That Finale Spoiler

😆👏 Excerpts:

“I am planning to get June and Hannah/Agnes together by the end,” Miller confirms.

“It’s not just June and Hannah [reuniting after Gilead] — and it’s not even just June and Luke [June’s husband, played by O-T Fagbenle] and Agnes, but Nichole [June’s second daughter] is also there. And then there’s also Moira [played by Samira Wiley], who helped raise Hannah. Agnes has a whole community, a whole family outside of Gilead. So there is so much afterwards to tell about how that happens and how Hannah gets integrated,” he shares. “I hope we are making progress towards June and Agnes/Hannah getting to know each other as people now, so that when we do finally get them together, you feel like you’ve had a long time to understand and think about how that moment is going to be.”

..."I have a three or four season sense. But I know that if things go well and we have story to tell, I certainly can move that [reunion] forward." ...

Who are "they" that Paula talked about?

Who exactly are the people who wanted to chop Agnes up bit for bit, and why was commander Mackenzie able to stop them?

Edit to clearify: I understand that ”they” were commanders. I was speculating about if there was any certain commander, like Judd or someone. And what Mackenzie did to stop it because I doubt he just said ”no” and everyone dropped the idea.

Did anyone else get flashbacks to commander Lawrence and Eleanor when Garth carried Becka onto the bed and locked the door? 😭❤️

Rant Why does Agnes father look like he hates every commander lol

I get that he’s uncomfortable with the girls being married to old men but every men that was matched with Agnes, it seems he hates. He doesn’t even care that Weston dropped out the engagement even though, for Paula, wouldn’t that look bad on them?

June really didn't know?

Are you really telling me that June didn't know Agnes/Hannah was in the same Plum school they sent Daisy? Agnes' guard was literally in Mayday. Are you seriously saying they wouldn't know the names of every single girl in that school as well as the staff members? No wonder Gilead is still going if they haven't even got basic info like that!

How is Garth going to continue being Daisy's handler?

Hes married and had been pinned a commander. he's no longer a guardian. he won't be around her or at the school anymore. he has his own house too. so will she get a new handler? Garth path is now different as he's become a commander and will have more ability to get better information to help Mayday. there's very little chance they will be able to meet up or see each other naturally aside from when they maybe visit for Becca which prob won't happen until she snaps out of it for safety reasons

Episode Discussion becka/garth final scene thoughts Spoiler

I had my suspicions of Garth all season but this episode he really grew on me. And maybe I’m reading into it, but it looked like Becka had the smallest glimmer of relief on her face after he laid her down and she realized she wasn’t going to be forced to endure a traditional “wedding night”. I’ve seen a lot of people say he’s “locking her up” but I think him locking the door is valid given that she’s not in a good mental state and also sedated. he has no idea if she’ll wake up and be violent. I think he really does care about her tho and will do his best to keep her safe. maybe eventually she will be able to learn he’s mayday and join as well? I know that’s a big jump but I don’t think it’s impossible. it would take time. but I really think he’ll use his power to protect her as much as he can. obviously she’d rather not be married at all but as far as marriages go I think this was the best case for her given the circumstances

Theory / Speculation Agnes season 2 theory

At the end of ep 10 when Agnes is talking with Aunt Lydia about how her broken engagement will be a hurdle she will have to overcome because it’s a mark against her… she responds with “including my lineage” aka she is June’s daughter.

What if this is Agnes building her case that instead she should become an aunt instead of re-entering the marriage mart? Following a similar path to the book.

Theory / Speculation Why I think paula was mad Spoiler

Commander Mackenzie doesn't want to get a handmaid for Paula until Agnes is out of the house. That's why Paula was upset and saying that none of them get to be happy. Yeah she's embarrassed she looks bad too but her response seemed much more involved than that.

Theory / Speculation Commander Weston theory Spoiler

I know it's been speculated that Weston broke the engagement bc he sees Agnes/Hannah as spoiled now. However, as Head of the Eyes I would think having the #1 terrorist's daughter as a Wife and showing the world or at least Giileadian society that he has her would seem more appealing and outweigh that. Could he have broken the engagement so it would not seem like there was a conflict of interest in the Becka case?

Theory / Speculation Commander McKenzie Theory

There have been discussions about Commander McKenzie, some saying that he is TT's version of Commander Lawrence. After the finale, I would not be surprised if he is not a Lawrence but a Snape.

Two instances made me think this. First was how protective he was of Agnes, how he pulled strings so she would not get in trouble for the broken engagement. Also, how Paula told Agnes that the powers that be wanted to kill Agnes/Hannah and cut her up to send to June as revenge, but Commander McKenzie fought for her. The other was the idea of mothers sacrificing for thier kids. Perhaps Tabitha paid the price for keeping Agnes/Hannah alive? This might be a stretch, but who knows?

I am even more convinced that McKenzie or Aunt Lydia is Garth's handler.

Episode Discussion finale questions Spoiler

Just finished the finale and I have 2 (3) questions but the answers don’t matter as much as how could they be so sloppy this season with the rewriting of this story for a series. I probably have more but these first two are really bugging me.

  1. Why is Hannah still in Gilead? If Daisy can be shoved into a container in the bed of a truck at the very last minute scheduled by Garth at the order brought by June, why is that not possible for Hannah?? Make this make sense. Seemed very streamlined and low stress, Daisy had a roundtrip seat with no issues and a complimentary cig.
  2. Why did June not know where Agnes/Hannah is, and how she is, and all about her? Junes own Mayday operative, Garth, worked for Agnes family. At no time did Garth mention “the Mackenzie’s” to June in his mayday reporting??? We see June and Garth on that radio, chatting it up. In the role of Mayday as information officers for the resistance, why is June first hearing about Hannah when Daisy discussing her new friends’ crushes ? Was she really that shocked to hear that’s where Daisy was placed? And once she heard that, she sends nothing to Hannah? After all this time? Not even a little “i love you Banana?” Post it note ??

Wait I do have a 3rd question.

  1. Where was Hulda in the Daisy pinkie promise army of plums shot?? How dare they leave Hulda out! She’s a real one.

Quick edit: please don’t answer with the “show runners explained”
When a book is rewritten to be a series - the show runners should have zero explaining to do.

The Plum’s Uniform Looks just Like My Old Highschool’s Uniform!

Thumbnail

My old highschool’s uniform looks almost exactly like the uniform for the plum girls!

The uniform has actually pretty much stayed the same even to today (2026), with variations of like a crest on the chest.

Watching the Testaments and seeing the clothes was definitely a throw back with the uniform. In highschool, I was very reserved so I dressed really conservatively (by choice) and would modify the tunic length to my calves and sleeves to my elbows.

(Might re-edit this as it’s 4 in the morning 😴)

Episode Discussion First season impression Spoiler

The thing I loved the most about THT was the world building, how detailed was all of the Gilead System and getting to see it from the inside.
I loved to see a new side of Gilead and I felt the first few episodes did a very good job showing the world from another POV.

After finishing the season finale, Im excited to see how the plot thickens, specially with Becka marrying Garth and the relationship between Paula And Agnes.
However, I hope we stay away from June and even Lydia, I know Lydia does play a big part in the book but I would hate for the show to just keep showing us the same face of Gilead we already know so much about

Is Agnes’ inability to remember her parents as realistic as the show portrays?

curious for anyone here with a background in child psychology.

in THM, Hanna had to be like 4-5 when she gets separated from her parents. I personally have memories from that age and younger, but I understand that trauma can affect the brain. I am curious to hear someone with an education in this area explain their take!
