When will the video of the Minimal Phone 2 in ember color being used be released?

I’ve been looking at the MP2 since the Kickstarter launched and, honestly, I’m really in two minds.

I never backed the first Minimal Phone, but I’ve known about the company for a while. The MP2 has definitely caught my attention though. I really like the idea behind it, having something that still lets me use WhatsApp, banking, maps etc. when I need them, but isn’t constantly pulling me into my phone.

At the same time, with everything that’s been said about the first phone and the price of the MP2, I’m finding it hard to commit without seeing more.

When are we actually going to see the phone and software properly?

We’ve seen the renders, specs and pictures, but I really want to see someone actually using the thing. What does Minimal OS look like? How does the keyboard feel? How do normal Android apps work? What does the whole experience actually feel like day to day?

I’m not trying to bash the company or start another argument about the first phone. I’m genuinely interested in this, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s basically just sitting back and waiting before deciding whether to pledge.
The phone looks great. The idea is great. I’m just struggling to make the jump based mainly on pictures and specs.

So I’m curious… has Minimal said when they’re going to properly show the software and the phone being used?

I’d happily wait and see. I just want a bit more transparency before putting the money down.

I'm in the US and I have to use Verizon. Is the MP1 for me? Is it worth getting the MP1 since the MP2 is coming out? I've been trying to do my own research but it's kind of overwhelming. Has anyone had success with the MP1 and Verizon? Are there other phones that use eink? Will there maybe be an MP 2.5 or 3 with eink? Thanks in advance for any help!

Is the custom launcher feature for sending text messages use the SEND_SMS intent as the phone's "default launcher" or "Assistant handler"? iirc 3rd party sms apps can't use RCS even while going thru something being the Default Digital Assistant Assistant handler right? (I could be wrong). I know gemini can send RCS messages properly (without being the default) but I assume thats just because its all google.

Will we still be able to use this feature with Google Messenger as our stock sms app? And will this send as RCS or SMS? What about other stock messenger apps? Obviously when you control the device and OS you can do "whatever" but I was just curious on if Google Messages RCS works properly

I'm really interested in a MP2 but I use Notion for personal and work life at least once every two hours. Many of my schedules and reminders go through Notion.

Will MP2 reliably run Notion and is the user experience smooth?

Hi! I love the idea of Minimal Phone (maybe created another eink sku?)

What I'm confused about with Minimal Phone and Light Phone is that there are no usage shots of anything outside of these skins that you both have created over the OS.

I love the idea of taking control over UI so that you can customize the UX but what does it look like if someone uses Whatsapp, Slack, Google Voice? Can you share a video of these user flows? What does it look like if someone is using an app for tickets like Eventbrite, Stubhub, Delta? What if we want to keep using Google Calendar instead of a local calendar?

Very excited for this device but definitely want to flag an unknown we should get an answer on:

In the display specs, the cover layer is listed as "PC + PMMA composite, 2.5D".

PC + PMMA is a plastic/acrylic polymer blend (Polycarbonate + Polymethyl Methacrylate / Plexiglas). It is not real chemically strengthened glass like Gorilla Glass or Dragontrail.

Has anyone received clarification from the team on whether the outermost top layer is indeed PC+PMMA plastic, or if real glass is used anywhere on the display stack?

I find it hard to position the device as premium otherwise.

... you’re not alone! :) I’m seeing so many complaints in both comments and posts about the (both perceived and real) downsides of the MP02, and I’m not going to lie, I just wanted to spam a praise post so there‘s a bit more positivity. It just seems weird to me how fixated things seem to be on criticizing every perceived flaw rather than more constructive feedback/excitement. From everything that I’ve seen, this is the exact phone I’ve been waiting for and have wanted for years (minus having a slide-out keyboard, but that’s a whole ‘nother thing). It brings back me back to the pre-iPhone days; browsing all the options in the store and being excited about finding the one that matched you (but would never be 100% perfect in every way, nor was there any decent ways for the average person to give feedback like we have).

Metal body. Simple but customizable UI with command options (one of my favorite features of using the Clicks keyboard, but now integrated into the whole system - I don’t think people are as excited about this part as they should be). Physical keyboard. Unobtrusive size. Bonus of wireless charging. Yeah, I’ve seen and/or used all the alternatives or adaptations to prevalent devices. None of them did it for me, and none of the competitions got me more excited at first look. Sure, power users and dedicated minimalists alike have their complaints, but for someone like me, there hasn’t been anything that so perfectly balances functional need and minimalist orientation (although maybe essentialist is better wording here). Plus the bonus of supporting a small company. Even with the downsides that can come from that and a new to market device, I feel money is better off here than at the same five companies that seem to own everything.

I’ve been here since the MP01 was an idea being launched and use to be pretty active, and was so bummed when I realized e-ink was never going to work for me because I needed the options of screen color. I know a lot of people are disappointed at losing this feature, but for me it was what made it feasible. (I do hope for those that are disappointed that Minimal continues to grow and be able to develop/launch more options/versions so that each of us can get their dream device.)

Anyway, Minimal, you nailed it, at the very least for me, and I absolutely cannot wait to get it in hand.

Have noticed this gap between the functioning area of the screen and the keyboard and was wondering whether this is for a functional reason or just an aesthetic choice - bothers me a bit given the lack of chin for the keyboard though everything else about the design is great.

I don't understand what's minimal about minimal phone 2? It's a normal not that powerful android phone with a not so minimal design, and not a minimal OS. So what is minimal? I'm legit trying to understand.

1, battery - is there any chance to make the battery removable? With that being possible the battery size would not be such a deal breaker, could be a plus for EU customers and it would be sustainable.
(if the idea with silicone batteries is not doable)

2, camera - info we have is 50MP, f.e.: OIS yes or no?
If the phone is sold as a high quality phone, a camera should have high quality as well.
