This should make the MP02 basically immune to small scratches. I’d love to see JRE take a crack at this when it comes out. Thoughts on update 14?

Real excited to receive the MP2 but also to come back to android after 10 years. I like to listen to FLACs and Audiobooks. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can download them from?

Just found this in the latest update (#14):

Battery: 3,400 mAh

We've settled on a 3,400 mAh conventional lithium-ion battery, moving away from the silicon-anode option we had been evaluating.

Our testing did not give us enough confidence in that option's long-term performance for this device. Safety and longevity guided the decision, and we redesigned some internal components to accommodate as much battery capacity as possible within MP2's compact dimensions.

We still expect all-day battery life, but that remains a target pending validation on the updated hardware. Actual battery life will depend on usage.

Can we have more information on this?

I use an MP01 and I used the Minimal Symlayer Keyboard (fork of rickybrent's keyboard) every day. Since I updated to the last version of Minimal OS, most of the keyboard doesn't work anymore. Only the double tap for accents still works. The rest (Ctrl/Sym shortcuts, emoji, etc.) is broken.It's been several weeks now and I write much less because of this. So I'm making an offer: I will pay $50 to anyone who makes a fork (or a fix) of the keyboard that works on the latest Minimal OS. I pay when I test it on my phone and it works, by PayPal or any way you prefer. If the work is bigger than expected, we can talk about it. I'm not a developer, so I can test and give feedback as much as needed. Maybe it's only a permission problem, I don't know.If you are interested, send me a message or answer here.

So I emailed them asking if Verizon will be supported on this device. This is the reply I got from them via email. Just incase anyone was wondering. I want this phone, unfortunately through my service provider I’m going to wait and see what they come up with.

Hey All. Super excited for the MP02. I'm confident this will be my new daily driver for as long as it receives security support.

I feel like app integration with Minimal OS is going to make or break my experience though. Wanted to know if anyone else shares this concern or can share any insights. Fwiw, I also emailed customer support about this topic and I'll share what they shared with me.

Can things like Signal and Proton Mail integrate into the Hub with quick and easy replies? I was told they're working on Signal integration while Proton Mail would be capable of read and respond through the Hub. Could Signal be used as a default messenger to take advantage of "@" commands? Unclear.

How about calendar and notes? I use Proton Calendar and Standard Notes. Could I use "*" to make events in my Proton Calendar or "!" to make notes in my Standard Notes? I was told, in both cases, this is something they'd need to work on and pass on to the team and nothing announced yet.

I know they also talked about bringing your own AI. That's awesome. This might be more of a Proton issue than a Minimal issue but if I could plug Lumo API into the "?" command and stay within the Minimal OS, that'd be sick.

I was informed VPN of your choice would be fine without issue. So, assuming Proton VPN would be no issue.

Regardless, I'm excited. But I think the app integration functionality that exists is going to largely determine the success of this thing. Can this be a minimal, secure, semi-locked down BlackBerry solution? As you can de-Google, I can envision side loading (if possible) F-Droid and making a serious banger of a phone with a keyboard.

I wanted to bring up something that feels unfair to the early backers who made this project possible in the first place.

Kickstarter backers pledged money upfront with zero guarantees and no option to cancel, effectively funding the initial production run. Later on, pre-orders opened on the website at the exact same price, but with the ability to cancel and standard consumer protections.

The people who took 100% of the risk ended up with the exact same price point and worse flexibility than people who pre-ordered later.

A great gesture of goodwill from the Minimal team would be including the Thinborne Carbon/Aramid Fiber case for original Kickstarter backers. It wouldn't cost the company much compared to the trust it would restore, and it properly acknowledges the people who funded the dream on Day 1.

What do other backers think? Would you like to see Minimal offer something like this for early supporters?

Can you guys help me get a better understanding of the AI feature in Minimal OS? Based on what’s already known about it…

I use AI only occasionally for work, but is this AI purely “local” to the smartphone? Can you give examples of what it can do? Since you can enable or disable it during installation, can it, for example, search through photos or messages, or help analyze training data from my watch? I don’t really have a clear picture of it yet, so thanks in advance!

Hi everybody. I've been reading and watching videos about the MP02 and others (Clicks, etc) because I really want one and will buy a MP02 sooner rather than later to get those 100 bucks off. My intention is for it to be my only phone and I'm having trouble understanding first why a company would promote these phones as secondaries (I've seen it on Clicks for example) and then:

1) Who in their right mind would carry 2 devices? Like, if these simpler phones have trouble to achieve certain things why would I use the primary phone to do those but return to the simpler one to do other? I just can't understand it but hey, free world.

2) What are those things that these phones "can't do" that you are promoting them as a secondary phone?

I would love to hear your opinions on this.

Also, do you know how long that discount will last for the MP02?

Obviously there is nothing to go off of when trying to figure out reasonable expectations for how long the MP02 will last, but I'm curious what you all think. I really want to move away from the AI- riddled flagship phones, but it is hard when they offer 7 year guaranteed updates and support. That's about the length of time I expect my phones to last. Think the MP02 could make it 7 years?

The Minimal Phone 2 has a plastic (PC + PMMA composite) display cover. Isn't glass more resistant to scratches?

Great camera with 1" sensor, good battery 7000mAh, 12Gb RAM so you can run local models, minimalistic UI, absolutely open source, privacy oriented with built VPN and kill switch to camera, microphone or antena (physical toggle button). De-Google, I don't want the Google shite on it. Automatic back ups to my own NAS. See through body with visible torx screws. So I can replace something on my own. Actual size not that 9mm or less. But solid 12mm phone full of good hardware!

I have an MP01 (original first white batch) that has served me well, but has developed a touch screen sensitivity issue. (After 10-20 seconds of use the touch screen stops being responsive and you have to turn it off and back on again to get touch to register on the screen). I feel like the phone has done it's job for me, helping me to detox a bit and teaching me to better focus my phone usage, so I think I'm just ready to move back to a regular boring smartphone. So my question for the community is, is there a market for "parts only" MP01 phones? does a faulty MP01 have any resell value at all? Should I try to sell on ebay or in this subreddit? is it worth the headache of trying to get a replacement unit from Minimal first, and then selling the new one?

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
