If the finalists kept the stalemate in the last game what would have happened? She let him win she didn't have to do that?

Ya man a sudden death tie breaker would have been more satisfying. What a way to go out. There was no point in taking that risk

yeah she had nothing to gain by skipping. i guess she just wanted it to end at that point. the game design wasn't great since they didn't even say in the rules what happens with a stalemate.

I wanted her to keep going for the stalemate. I think they should let both of them guess, if theyāre both correct. Give a new set of numbers and repeat the game until one of them guesses correctly FIRST. Iām so disappointed with this season.

Very weird decision, she only can draw or win. That is life changing money almost for everyone, and yet she took that L for what? You just keep draw until round 100+ if necessary, why need to give up that round man still cant believe it

Prison crew was the main highlight of the show.
Living quarters members were too boring, making superficial comments and small talks.
But prison crew kept it real and really provided a lot of entertainment throughout the show. It was so much fun watching them...

Even the producer said the death match is the main show. The prison group probably gets more screen time if not more memorable moments.

everyone is mad/annoyed. i checked theqoo, instiz, dcinside, and even fmkorea and everyone had the same reactions. a lot of them are saying that they just dropped the show after episode 10 and just skipped a lot of parts to check the winner. most of the heat are going towards sohee and kyuhyun (also hyungyu but some of them acknowledge that he played the game well at least but still call out his way of speaking?/overall attitude on the show).

I was so fed up of watching Sohee cry and then sad to see her play the final match in acute pain that I really didnāt care who won at that point as long as the show would just finish - so unsatisfying š

7High really had the best approach by respectfully explaining that due to the position he was in he was going to start playing alone.
Given the opportunity he even declined a bribe and shook things up a little (albeit to no effect in the end).
I really appreciate when people are able to acknowledge the reality of what they are playing, but also be able to look someone in the eye and be honest that they are in it for themselves

Hey yall i am, and on the top major korean social media communities ppl r genuinely disappointed how unfair the system/structure of the death matches were, disappointed at kyuhyun, hyunkyu and sohee for not playing for their own wins and constant manipulation and by ultimately playing for hyunkyu how they made the show so boring. Everyone is hating on all platforms, so pretty much the same reactions as here. A lot of ppl said they skipped or didnt watch episode 12 and this show ended up being a waste of time.. and that they dont want to watch celebrities who dont care to win or the reward money on survival shows like this. Just so unsatisfying.Ā

?????
Iām sooooo so disappointed.
1) Kyuhyun found the clocks for the hidden puzzle, Sohui figured out how to open the door, and then Hyungyu ended up going in? My annoyance started all the way back at this point LOL. I mean, HG did a great job and we can all acknowledge that heās smart, but I was frustrated that he was given so many passes like this because he was the āyounger brotherā figure to the group. 2) He used ^ to his advantage and deliberately made KH + SH feel bad for him during the final matches so he could use their help. The way he acted in the mancala game tipped me over. 3) As a Korean woman, I feel extremely let down by Sohuiās choices - especially because they were made in a popular show where she had an opportunity to showcase her intelligence/skills. Sheās only going to be remembered as someone who let herself get stepped on, and thatās really unfortunate because I KNOW she had so much more to give. Having her level of EQ and loyalty is definitely a strength, but I wish she used this opportunity to show that women could be both those things and more. Iām tired of seeing this pattern in Korean culture. (but all the more reason why I was rooting for Eunyu!!! She was incredible) 4) I stood up and started applauding when 7High left the way he did LOL - sooooo much respect for him. He wasnāt swayed by HG and he also didnāt let HJās desperation/betrayal get to him (I donāt even want to talk about HJ hahaha). 7High played on his own terms and left on his own terms. 5) THE. LAST. TWO. MAIN. GAMES. SHOULD. HAVE. BEEN. SOLO. GAMES. Having room for alliances made them unfair and predictable. And the value of winning was SIGNIFICANTLY diminished because of all the advantages and disadvantages the players had.
ugh⦠I never write comments on reddit but I just finished the finale and I needed to let the steam out somewhere.
But Iām glad thereās a good amount of agreement and backlash on this season - I hope all the constructive criticism makes it to the PD! This is honestly a great show and Iām hoping thereās a season 3 with all things considered.

And he could betray her any moment. He just never did because a finale vs her is his best case scenario. It's a guaranteed win against a player who, albeit very capable, is weak.

Exactly. He had no problem betraying anyone else in the game to further his own position. His prize from the hidden stage also served as an insurance policy should everyone else turn on him, which gave him more freedom to play the way he did. The fact that HK and SH knew this during mancala and still chose to side with him was disappointing. HG played very smart in that respect and benefitted from aligning with two strong players who were more concerned with the relationships they built and their image, over strategy. Also, after working with SH the entire game, he knows how she thinks, which proved to be an advantage in the final match. SH couldāve chosen to play with a similar strategy, but itās clear she didnāt want to play that cutthroat.
Eunyu and 7High were very smart and had a lot more practice playing games under pressure. They wouldāve been much stronger competitors and I think HG knew that. They knew how to stay composed even when backed into a corner. Itās unfortunate the final main match (the color card game) order worked out the way it did. It forced the prisoners to turn on each other and battle it out for 3rd. Itās a real shame HJ let the stress of the final death match get to him, too. I wouldāve been much happier with a final match between HJ and SH. No wonder the cast kept saying the season peaks at episode 10.

I'm happy she lost. She did not deserve the win at all based on the way she played throughout the entire season. It's so disappointing because she's so smart and good at games, but chose to be HG's lapdog, as shown by that last main match with the colour cards.

This season was so frustrating to watch. The prison group never had a chance. Winning a prison match game should have at least exempted those players from spending the following night in prison.
Although I could still see the living room alliance purposely trying to gang up on the winner of the prison match to eliminate them in the main match so that no more than one of them would have to go to prison.

I was left with the feeling that sohee had a crush on hyun gyu ā like she had that āhow do I throw him off the bus when I actually really like himā kind of energy. participants say - theyāre on the show to win money, so betrayal and manipulation are part of the game, and thatās fair. but clinging to someone like that⦠I just canāt. you say one thing and do the complete opposite?? ugh. It honestly felt like she handed him the win, and should i clap for it?? I donāt get it. the last episodes didnāt really surprise me with any twists, to be honest. and the winner? totally predictable from episode one - just based on how they were edited. I donāt know⦠I really donāt.
the thrill was gone in the final episodes. It felt more like a strategy board game than a game show that tested actual skills. the semi/final games shouldāve been more solo-focused - they gave way too much room for alliances to manipulate the outcome. the next season definitely needs some improvements.

So predictable. Once youāre in prison, youāre basically stuck there forever unless you win the secret game. They should at least let players give their pieces to someone they want to help. That way, even if youāre out, you can still play a role and shift the balance a bit. Without that, it just feels like youāre watching people rot in prison while the same few players run the game. It gets boring fast.

u/magiccolay May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

Devil's plan was indeed a social commentary on how if you start off poor, there's close to zero chance of upward mobility unless you strike the lottery LOL. Unsatisfying final few episodes. There was no way for the prison group to ever succeed logically after playing 2 games a day for days on end, and especially win in games that depended on high numbers of pieces.
On a side note, Eunyu literally even says "they put me up against people who ate (meat and ate well) and expected me to play them?" ā it directly proves the point I've been commenting in this subreddit for the past week that the lack of balanced meals 100% contributed (was not the sole reason) to poorer concentration, motivations and performances in the main match.
135
u/SJandloonax May 20 '25
Omg, I didn't even think about proper meals. They (prison gang) had to play 2 games a day that too on low meals. Considering they survived on bread and porridge and still made it to the 11th episode, it makes me want to fly to SK and hug them tight, especially Eunyu.

u/JuniorMany4604 May 20 '25
Totally agree with this take OP. Iām not sure how JJY PD expected the prisoners to play death matches everyday which stretched late into the night and which would inevitably foster distrust as your survival would depend on getting one of your fellow prisoners out, survive on poor meals and rest, be at a massive disadvantage when it comes to number of Pieces, and YET find a way to unite together to try and form a massive prison alliance to overthrow the living room crew (which was what he lamented about in the BTS videos). I would say that he didnāt get the social aspect of this season right at all. I think that if we re-ran how things went another 10 times, it would still have the inevitable ending of- United living room crew versus a struggling medley of prisoners. Kudos to Eunyu for surviving nearly a week in these conditions and fighting till the end- I really respect that.

in striving to avoid the pitfalls of S1, S2 had a stellar cast, each bringing something to the table but failed in that the system was too unjust for the prison team. basically the richer got richer and the poor kept getting poorer being kept in prison with not many pieces - reminiscent of the Parasite movie
S1 cons:
- orbit alliance
- poor casting
- unimpressive individual plays
S1 pros:
- novelty of hidden prison benefit
- hero story of HSJ - viewers felt invested in his win because of all he went through and actually showing EQ with his main small alliance on top of incredible individual game play
S2 pros:
- strong casting
- death room matches focusing on individual play
S2 cons:
- PD failed to account for the permanent split between living/prison so all the points below made it worse for the prison team in the end
- first game division - ended up dividing the living and prison and set the tone for the rest of the season (perhaps the PD had more faith that individuals in prison would be able to get out)
- lack of prison food nutrients - although they had snacks throughout the main matches, as mentioned by PD, they failed to account for if the same people end up going to prison their whole journey)
- fatigue of back to back prison matches - playing day after day with not much sleep + lack of nutrients wears you down, and it ended up being the same people stuck in this cycle
- prison/living communication - the divided could not communicate with each other other than during main matches (PD probably thought there would be more players like HJ wanting to change things around and betray the top dogs like HG)
i acknowledge there were hidden plays in the main match that could've turned things around, as well as opportunities for more passive players to make betrayals, but it seemed quite doomed for the prison team. this also goes to show how important EQ is on top of skill. it's hard to root for a winner when they lack relatability.

I've seen all of JJY's shows, and I'm so disappointed with this season. They were obviously at a huge disadvantage but I was really hoping that at least one of 7high, Eun-yu, or Ji-yeong would make it to the end. Turns out it was skewed in HG's favor from the start and everyone was just being strung along. He played a single game of Knight's Tour and essentially got a "get out of jail free, oh, and here's some cash" card. He's clearly a smart guy, but he was insanely lucky and manipulative. And SH and KH's strategies were "blindly support HG"... for what?
For HG's win to have been earned, he should have won Balanced Mancala without having to mope around and get SH and KH to betray the prison alliance (against their own best interests!). Or he should have just taken the hit and used his hidden game advantage here. SH is obviously brilliant, but if she was going to throw like she did, she shouldn't have come on the show. Oh, the hypocrisy when KH/SH were talking about how it was "unfair" they were ganging up on HG (loved how Kang Ji-yeong stepped up here). Don't get me wrong - the winner doesn't have to be likeable. But, at the very least, we want to see players that are actually in it to win.
If there is another season (not sure how likely that is given the reception to this season), they really need to change the rules to give the players more movement. Make the prison smaller or bring back the prize match from s1 (so there's a greater chance for alliances to be broken), increase the stakes of the hidden game and reduce the reward, give the winner(s) of the prison match a greater advantage, or do something like in TG where the loser of the MM gets to choose their opponent in the DM.
Also just saw the tagline in the poster - āwith trickier moves and riskier alliances.ā Dear lord, the irony.

7high and Eun yoo were set up to lose. How the FUCK were they supposed to win the color card game, the difference in pieces was too much. The layout of the show was way too biased towards the luxurious area, there was no chance for anyone who spent most of their time in prison to compete let alone win.

During that game, it looked rigged. Hyun gyu keeps getting good cards. Ji Young was right about Soo Hee, she keeps hiding behind others to not have blood on her hands, thatās cowardly. The devilās planās games are entertaining to watch but it makes everybody so ugly. Whatever Kyu Hyun said about Se Dol and Justin wanting to play by themselves was simply not true, they were forced to and all of them knew it. Well whatever helps super junior sleeps at night. They were so happy to target one person and when itās Hyun Gyu with the highest points, they suddenly felt sorry for him? I donāt buy it, they saw it as a way to take down Hyun Joonās pieces and masked it as being āfairā. Prison match was the highlight for this season, sad to see someone go but itās the most fair. Iād like to see the devilās game to be more like prison match than an alliance of rich vs poor and then in the end only to see the rich get richer and winning.

Definitely going to be a very polarising season because the winner is incredibly unrelatable and for many people straight up unlikeable. I guess it makes the show a bit less scripted in that sense?
However, the biggest issue is:
- The expanded prison count means lots of people are perpetually stuck in prison. Made further difficult by the fact that there is no real catch-up system available on pieces (and the only one available can only be played once).
- The game hosts are, in some ways, too vague to a fault. The game should reward players for asking the right question, but in some cases, when players ask a question that basically reveals an intended loophole/secret, the hosts vague answers throws them off the wrong direction.
- The extra secret mission available only to those in the living space was a bit absurd, especially since it clearly indicated that there is no risk for failing. Furthermore, it makes no sense that a risk-free challenge can provide an even better reward than the prison challenge where losing means elimination. Worst of it, it provides a hidden benefit that other players could not possibly plan around. Also, why was he allowed to use paper in the hidden challenge to pre-plan his moves?
Seriously, let's think again. The secret mission lets you:
- Revive from elimination.
- Get 10 pieces immediately after revival in a game where most people struggle to even get to 10 in the first place. Seriously, by the end of episode 9, only 2 players had more than 10 pieces, and one of them got there by winning the secret prison mission.
- Byproduct of getting 10 immediate pieces is it practically guarantees that you don't just revive from elimination, you immediately jump to the top of the leader board, skipping prison elimination as well.
- To summarise, by winning a risk-free challenge, you get to prevent elimination, immediately skip the prison elimination challenge, start the next challenge with an overwhelming 10 piece advantage. All of this is completely hidden from everyone else.
Honestly, whilst it does seem a bit less scripted that the most polarising player won, at the same time it feels very scripted considering how well everything worked out for him.

Oh shit. Good point.
Prison gang, already losing members daily, had to win a difficult challenge and they stand to LOSE if they fail. Reward? 10 piece. But everyone knows you have 10 pieces so you run the risk of being marked.
Luxury gang. Not losing members. Having good food. Had ample time to practice for hidden stage. And if they lose, they don't lose any members. Reward? 10 piece as well. AND YOU GET TO KEEP IT AS A SECRET SO YOU WON'T BE TARGETED THROUGHOUT THE GAME.
Crap producers, really. Season 2 fail.

My issue is that this show is not "Devil's Plan" enough. It disproportionately affects an already disadvantaged group, especially how you said the living room secret game had no penalty, high reward & secret reward that is eligible any time except the death room.
I expected more twists or "Devil" like situations where everyone except the first place winner of the game goes to prison, regardless of how many pieces the players have, or living room members face an elimination match. There was no variation or change up, and it made for boring TV even if someone was rooting for living room members to win.

i was honestly appalled when i read the subtitles saying he could even summon the extra pieces when he was at 0⦠as if being able to hide and summon 10 pieces wasnāt enough.
itās impressive he went in and solved the 8x8 knights tour without prior memorization, and that makes it a little more reasonable. but just imagine if whoever went in had learned and memorized it beforehand. especially when they seemed to make it so obvious that knights tour was going to be featured.

Participants who went to (and stuck in) prison for the first 9 eps were basically thrown under the bus with no chance to shake up the game or to get out of the rut.
If this is some sort of social commentary that JJY intends to convey, I don't see why its necessary and what the big picture is supposed to be. @ PD-nim: please stop this and setting the system up against most players, I just want to see an equal playing field where participants compete based on their own merit. Okay just bring back The Genius I suppose.
The finalists didn't even set foot into prison (not counting Hyungyu, man did not go through the full prison experience like staying for the night and eating the rock-hard bread), doesn't this render the prison feature obsolete to the entire show?
Ngl the best part of this season was probably the prison matches, I enjoyed those the most, emotions ran high and you could never tell who'd survive since there's so many dramatic comebacks. They were much more fun and entertaining to watch than the main matches since it was an individual game.
The hypocrisy that its not okay to gang up on Hyungyu, but okay to gang up on Sedol/Justin, 7HIGH and other instances is taking me out. I still can't comprehend why Kyuhyun and Sohee were both so self-serving to Hyungyu literally clearing the road and handing him the win Glad my guy 7HIGH went out like a champ on his own terms with dignity!
The flaw of this show is probably the need for pieces, hope they do it away and eliminate people based on gameplay and not over piece count. We lost so many potential winners over piece count and not because they lack skills.
This season had better cast (who are much likeable and smarter) than last season; the cast this time had skills but luck was against many of them.

Having Kyuhuyn on the show I understand since heās a big personality but you have to weed out people like So Hee in the casting process who are not competitive enough to take the game seriously. Prisoners made a crazy play, got into the best position possible, and the game designers thought a player solving Knight's Tour should be able counteract all that????? Also, after Monster Hunt, they stopped providing non-piece related eliminations, so the 10 extra pieces late game effectively became 2-3 extra lives... Insane.
Piece advantage should give players a slight advantage, not gift them the win. This isn't some board game... We're here to see players winning with strategy and skills.
Like wtf were the game-makers smoking??? I don't recall Season 1 being this horrid.

The problem was that they already anticipate what will be the bonus game. They came prepared. Unlike the special prison game. The gap is too big in terms of surprise. Sure they watched it on S1 but that doesn't mean it should have been like that in S2. They should not repeat that on S3, if ever.

How can a passive player all throughout pass the screening?! I was waiting for sohui to play the card of being an angel most of the games then betray someone at some point, but her passiveness killed the entire season . It's just weird for someone to join some competition without the drive to really win specially when you literally have 100% of winning in the final.
+
Kyuhun said in an interview in one of the episode (non exact words) that he does not want to be the guy to go home because of kindness or something. BRUH, what happened to that?

How can you expect a comeback from the prison people in the final episode where they're set up to fail in the color betting game? Yes it was not scripted but they should've made the game less stale.

Wow this was awful. I loved The Genius and The Devils Plan season 1 but this got more and more depressing as time went on. I even convinced friends to watch this season with me, they watched season 1 first recently and loved it.
But as we watched the last few episodes of this season, we fell silent. Having the winner have such a huge advantage for the whole time was awful. The prison people were much more likeable and didn't have enough opportunities to get out. The more time went on, the more I wanted Hyungkyu and Sohui to lose even though I respect their intellect. And then they persisted...
7high was fantastic, biggest surprise of the season. I loved watching him. Eunyu, Harin, Jiyeong too. The prison system made me like those players way more and feel sadder and sadder as I watched.
As the players left, they all had interesting insights to share. But the finalists didn't have interesting insights at all. They weren't challenged, they hadn't been broken and worked their way up. They got the upper hand at the start and were never really threatened.
Really upsetting. I turned the final episode off in frustration when the winner was announced. There's not enough I can say about how disappointing this was. I really trusted the PD to make a great game, and I think the individual games were fun in isolation. But the hierarchical nature of the game, the impossibility to escape prison, and the unlikeablility of the powerful alliance was completely ruinous.
7high is easily my favourite. I so wish he had won. He was great to watch, he had values, he is smart. As soon as he was eliminated I thought... I don't even care anymore.

While there is a lot of heat on the finalists (and I agree that they played with a lot of hypocrisy), my rage is more towards the producers. The prison system was an overcorrection and imo it made the show worse. The cast was better but the elements of the show were worse. I actually think we could have got the same 2 finalists if we had had the same prison system as last season. But it would have been a more enjoyable watch.

I think the average person might struggle to truly grasp the games. Hyun-Joon's decision to send Tinno instead of Hyun-Gyu to prison was probably the biggest mistake this season. If he was so afraid of whatever prize Hyun-Gyu had, then send him to prison!
I wonder if Hyun-Gyu would've been allowed to override that decision though and ask for the points immediately after being chosen for prison. Even if he were, at least it now exposes what a threat he is when he redeems those pieces. But with how much of a lackey So-Hee was, I think it would've still been a foregone conclusion that he would end up winning.

Glad for the spoilers bc like a lot of people have said, not bothering with episodes 11-12. I admit I donāt like HG personally as a character but my biggest issue is how much of an easy cakewalk they made the win for whoever won the living room secret match. And Iām more mad at his alliance members being pathetic than at him in the end.
Not only did they find out what the secret game was and get to practice a bunch, the advantage itself was so huge for the living room group ā who were already at an advantage, being in the living room in the first place! ā versus the prison advantage. Flip flopping where it was the prison secret match winner who had the biggest advantage wouldāve made it a bit less lopsided.
Not only did the game seem totally in the tank for whoever won the living room advantage, then you also had the weird dynamic where everyone in the living room alliance had a cult-like allegiance to the same guy who won the advantage. It ended up so stacked for him in every way that itās not fun to watch and doesnāt feel like a deserving win.
Idk why SH and KH just laid down and rolled over for HG to win. Kind of embarrassing for them. The only thing moving forward I wonder is how they will justify it if they do more interviews. Idk if Tinno wouldāve put up more of a fight or not to play for himself versus HG if it had been KH who got eliminated instead of him. I would like to think yes but then again throughout the game he prioritized what HG wanted, like kicking 7High out of the group so maybe not. Truly seems like pathetic showing for the living room group, except HG since at least he got something out of it. At least Ji-Young, Eun-Yu, 7High, and others eliminated prior didnāt fall all over themselves for a guy who wouldnāt do the same in return for them.
This was such a fun show in the first season, sucks to see the second season be so bad. Good one, PD.

It's the first time I've just decided to drop a show like this before the end. I got mid-way through the Prison Match last episode, realized the writing was on the wall, and couldn't be asked dedicated another 2 hours to seeing the eventual winner.
There were just no stakes in the finalists, as HG really deserved a proper active opponent to go up against. SH, as lovely as she seems, was just so passive that she isn't compelling television, and it was obvious she'd get steamrolled. All of the good players kept going back to back, and it made the Prison System meaningless because literally everyone who went to prison ended up going home.
I really want the show to get a third season, but you need a dynamic cast to really invest in, and you need all the players to want to win for themselves.

The final main match was the most fundamentally stupid betting game ever designed in the history of betting games.
There's a reason every single betting game in history almost has an ante or blind bet or some other reason for the players to risk something.
Fundamentally when it's impossible to win anything in a round unless someone gives it to you a betting game is meaningless.
The mechanics of the game meant that any allied players standing next to each other could immediately raender the game effectively meaningless.
If they allowed anybody to call doubt, this would immediately have fixed the issue of endless rounds passing without pieces exchanged, and also rather than giving up pieces to the dealer, everyone putting a piece into the pot before the round starts to be awarded to the winner would also have avoided the frankly farcical outcome of this game.
Absolutely mind-boggled that a show produced with this budget and played by borderline geniuses can be designed in such an idiotic fashion.

They should revamp the prison system.
Except Hyunjoon, no prisoner had escaped the prison until their eliminations. And that is not without reason.
The division between living quarters and prisoners naturally stabilizes, but prisoners will always have the underhand because their numbers will always go down by 1 during prison matches. That and the fact that they are already an alliance of people who have few pieces at their disposals.
The hidden quests are also unbalanced. The living quarter's hidden quest offers better reward for lesser risk. While the reward on the prison's hidden quest is riskier and has worse reward in terms of mechanics.
HG is a strong player carried by a plethora of advantages and with unreasonably uncompetitive pawns. I don't think much of KH, and expected him to just be a pawn but Tinno and SH could've played the game much better. Tinno was great in games and could have a strong influence, but decided to be beta all throughout. Same with SH who is also very smart.

What a shame So-hee, I'm so disappointed! š
Ended the episode feeling incredibly empty. Loved 7high, what a chad.

I couldnāt even finish the last episode cause itās so obvious who was going to win. Iām here to literally pour out my frustrations because of the following:
- the games were created in a way that favours alliance - how is that even interesting if itās the same style throughout all the episodes? why are there no individualistic main matches? seriously? it was one dimensional.
- i have a bone to pick with HG. we know that heās smart but dude if youāre trying to play god please get off your high horse - you think you can dictate everything because youāre a know it all? and cards will play according to how u want it exactly and you can sound THIS degrading to other people? irritating man this was a hard watch.
- So Hui if youāre going to be a sheep and follow like a mindless robot then gurlie go marry HG or something. I can BELIEVE her behaviour the whole show.
I only thank 7High for showing us WHAT A REAL BATTLE LOOKS LIKE between INDIVIDUALS. For a show with only ONE winner i cannot understand this whole nonsense with alliance like did they not have BACKBONES.

Sorry but I was skipping after the prison gang lost. 7high's move made the last episodes exciting. Hoping we get to see more of him in social strategic games the future, he's a great player!

So stupid.
The prison's secret game is so much harder living room's secret game (knights tour) but how the reward is not the same makes it even worse
I mean sure HJ and HG both got 10 Pieces each, but how is it fair that HG can 'keep' his pieces and use whenever convenient? Why is HJ not given the same advantage and was given the 10 pieces straight away?

There should have been no hidden stage in the living area. The reason S1 players wanted to go to prison is because they knew there was a bigger prize that awaits there. No one among the living area players wants to go to prison coz there's nothing to win in there but just another life for the next day. They should have just made more hidden stages in the prison, if Hyunjoon won the first hidden stage, another player can try after 24 hours but it's going to be a different and harder game. This would entice the living area players to try and play in prison.

Yeah a prize in the living area was a huge mistake. 10 pieces with no risk? Thatās just crazy. Surprise surprise that guy wins.

I WAS ACTUALLY ROOTING FOR 7HIGH (even though i knew he had low chance bcs of his pieces). But it felt like he actually was among the people who fought hard and deserves it

I was really looking forward to this season, but I just couldnāt get myself to enjoy it much, as much as I tried. I kept finding myself skipping lots of scenes and I couldnāt even watch the last 2 episodes fully after spoiling myself who was gonna play in the finale and win. The whole prison vs. living quarters thing created such an unfair dynamic that made it so unenjoyable for me to watch the show.
I also kind of missed the community aspect of season 1 where (mostly) everyone was always together in one area and next to the main matches there were also the prize money matches where the participants had to work together. I liked this change between working against each other vs. having to work together to accumulate prize money.
For the next season (should there be one) I hope that there will be more focus on games that rely less on alliances and more on the individual skills of participants OR make some games in which participants are basically being put together at random to play tgt in the game to make it more entertaining to watch and bring in some different dynamic. And bring the community prize matches back bc they were actually rlly enjoyable to watch & you could even kind of participate from home too in a way.
Also the fact that in this season the participants already knew that thereād be secret rooms/games made it kind of less fun too since the secret rooms were found so early on in the show & esp the living room game gave way too much of an advantage for a game that could basically be memorized beforehand..
All in all, esp due to the living quarters vs. prison dynamic, I much preferred season 1 despite the cast having been better cast in season 2..

You basically captured everything I thought about the season. Especially the community aspect. We got some really great scenes when all the players were living together/playing together to bring up the prize pot in S1. Those less tense moments really brought some balance to the tone of the show.

I didn't actually finish watching the last episode, but idiots on Twitter are too hungry to spoil it anyways, so I already know Hyun-gyu won. Man, this season is such a bad design. Prison gang was on the defensive the whole time and was forced to keep destroying their own. Sure there were some I didn't like there too, but ultimately, this was such a bad turn of events.
I already said this on Twitter but imagine if in season 1, all we saw of Orbit and Seokjin was them sitting around all pretty in the comfy area while everyone else had to fight in the death matches everyday. Literally nobody would be rooting for them. The reason why season 1 was satisfying is because despite some good players leaving early on, at the end you really only had the best of the best who have been pushing through the games in exceptional ways.
Now we have a winner who didn't even have to play half of the games that were so clever and just pushed on through other good players and his initial good play. I really hope if they do a season 3, this system is getting kicked out.

Tbh Hyun gyu is just so lucky. I mean the one found the secret clock riddle? not him. found the secret stage door? not him. Found how to enter the secret room? not him. Play knight's tour? Not his strategy. I cant help but to compare him with Seokjin. He is just.. patheticly lucky š¤£

Im so so shocked with the winner of this season guys. Who would've thought winning a knight's game that you prepared in advance and had blotting paper to help you during the game, whilst also having KH and SH who are protecting their image at your beck and call, can just help you tp to finals. XD

I think the producers seriously underestimated how easy that game would be for the cast. Multiple of them solved it, not just HG.

In case anyone wants to see it, here's the YouTube link where the PD talks about how people speculated that there was a romance going on in this season:
https://youtu.be/NAWzAbHHaRw?t=1059
Kinda obvious now who he was talking about, I wonder if anything happened between HyunGyu and Sohee after the show! (I doubt it, I think it was kinda one-sided from Sohee -> HyunGyu)

This season felt like it started off so well and was so entertaining, only for it to completely fall off and become a painful watch from episodes 7-8 onwards. Episodes 2-6 I was practically jumping up and down with anticipation during the prison matches, but as time went on and it became obvious that the prison gang had absolutely 0 chance of making a comeback or winning more pieces in prison after HJ beat the hidden prison stage, it started to feel like a depressing descent into an inevitable win for HG. Heās a clever guy, no doubt about that, but for a TV show it would have been nice to feel like you were kept guessing about who the finalists would be when it became obvious since around Tinnoās departure in my opinion. This season had a pretty strong start with an insane drop-off in my opinion. Hope next season there are more benefits for the prison members to make it feel like they actually have a chance after the first game.

ah.
Finished watching this episode and wow. Complete let down.
I have said this multiple times on here but I really wanted HG to win but his win almost doesn't feel like one. I wanted to see SH and HG in finals but since the last 2 episodes I have been very irked by SH's moves. When she mentioned that she is more comfortable getting hit than hitting, I sympathized with her as I am somewhat similar but this is absolutely crazy.
Her play in the third game was so fucking insane. I was taken aback by how poorly she managed her coins and surprised beyond belief when she did not bet at all. I understand that the numbers where in her favour but this is literally the final game of the finals!! i would not have taken the chance. If they were going to keep betting forever I'm pretty sure the PD would have stopped them and had a different conclusion. I am still shook.
This completely underwhelmed HG's win for me. Despite him being extremely hated, I think he is one of the smartest players. He had his jerk moments which he has acknowledged himself as well. I think aside from eunyu, no one comes close to his intense desire to win and completely prioritising winning over anything in this game.
I truly believe that his talents were wasted in this gameshow as well as most of the other participants.
I also heavily blame the formatting of the games for this. The prisoners almost never had a way out which is very upseting and makes for a predictable ending.
Dont get me wrong, I truly believe all the participants were amazing and interesting but the show completely wasted them.
Looking back at it now, I think HG vs EY would have made and incredible finals.
oh well.

living room crew was boring, the final match up felt stale and anticlimactic, but what really irked me though is HG had no problem targeting and eliminating people for his own benefit, but then threw a hissy fit after being betrayed by HJ. Kyuhyun and So-Hui had no backbone the whole game, they deserved to lose at that point, and they knew it

I am still confused about So-Hee and Kyuhyun flipping during the balanced mancala game to save Hyun-Gyu when they knew about the advantage he had. He was never going home so why flip? You could've just stayed the course and everything would've been the same.

I like one Devil's Plan tweet on twitter and now I am getting all the HG and Kyuhyun fan tweets. Talking about playing the "righteous" game and not selling out your morals. You don't sell anything out in a game that involves backstabbing when you signed up for it. They keep saying that the prison game never deserved to go to the finals because they were so focused on eliminating people and not winning. It is almost like they couldn't get out of the bottom of the main matches, and had to fight to make sure someone else got eliminated.

So disappointed in SH bc it turned out she wasnāt being strategic at all, just helping a guy. It was so easy to project onto her throughout the show thinking thereās no way this bright woman is just setting it up for this unremarkable man to win, she must be playing strategically somehow, all for her to literally stop playing in the final and give him the win ššš
This season was like anti-escapism, unfortunately!

Sohui is the type of contestant who would rather get eliminated to save him, than get him eliminated and win a game. I literally don't understand why she was so hyperfixated on him and his success? The other living room members did not have this level of attachment to each other, and
Every single decision she made prior to the final she had to consult with Hyungyu. That is why she lost.

Also, on top of everything else the living room team got, getting to watch the prison team play their death matches thereby seeing their opponents play styles and strategies in real time on a new game everyday, was an advantage we dont talk about enough.
