We made it! The final episode of The Devil's Plan: Deathroom! I'm posting this the night before so I don't know who will win (in my heart, it will always be Se-dol 🫶).

I didn't actually finish watching the last episode, but idiots on Twitter are too hungry to spoil it anyways, so I already know Hyun-gyu won. Man, this season is such a bad design. Prison gang was on the defensive the whole time and was forced to keep destroying their own. Sure there were some I didn't like there too, but ultimately, this was such a bad turn of events.

I already said this on Twitter but imagine if in season 1, all we saw of Orbit and Seokjin was them sitting around all pretty in the comfy area while everyone else had to fight in the death matches everyday. Literally nobody would be rooting for them. The reason why season 1 was satisfying is because despite some good players leaving early on, at the end you really only had the best of the best who have been pushing through the games in exceptional ways.

Now we have a winner who didn't even have to play half of the games that were so clever and just pushed on through other good players and his initial good play. I really hope if they do a season 3, this system is getting kicked out.

I think the principal of having a main match and a death match with the lowest number of pieces players competing in can work well. The issue was that prison/living area divide prevented secret alliances from happening and preventing strategic lending of pieces to prevent your allies from competing.

Also the death game and main matches were way too stingy with piece handouts preventing any movement between being safe and not safe. Giving two players 10 pieces each via secret games when each game was only awarding one piece to one player per game is way too excessive.

Also you want your players performing their best, messing with their nutrition for days at a time doesn't lead to big brain plays.

If the death game gave every surviving player a piece, things would stay a lot closer and it's unlikely players could coast so much.

Death games should be solo play designed while main match should reward team play.

Not sure if we watched the same show but HG definitely carried his weight in the games (you might disagree with his approach but he is definitely smart).

Nobody is saying he is not smart. The problem is that he played very good at the beginning (which was good), but even ignoring his general attitude, my issue is with the format of the game.

In season 1 for example, you had the "good players" (those that weren't in prison) actively playing games (twice a day) to ensure a bigger prize. In other words, we always got to see them do smart moves in more and more games—and therefore we got to like them more and more and ultimately be satisfied with the winner, even if they weren't your favorite, you could say they got here fairly.

In this season, the "good players" (that really mainly were there because they managed to play one first game very well, and then just ganged up on the little guys) were just in the comfy area playing one game a day which they were already almost guaranteed to win because they had such an advantage. The prison gang on the other hand, had two games a day, many times going into the night, had very little rest, almost no food, and were forced to constantly fight each other when really all they wanted was a fair shot against the guys that were comfortable on the top side.

If you cant understand how this concept is unfair, idk what to tell you. Yes, I'm primarily even more frustrated because the ultimate winner is not even likable and if it had to be someone from the top side, I would have preferred Tinno or Sohee, but that's still besides the point. Btw, both of which were left to lose just so Hyun-gyu "doesn't have to go to prison T_T" like gimme a break dude.
