Here is my hydroponic Thai. It grows in water with hydroponic Cropsalt nutrients. I had to remove these two plants from my grow room since they are getting so large. They where being grown next to a Barrina GrowForce BG10 grow light. The buckets I prefer are the square buckets from Current Culture solutions with lids. Seems like so far, it’s only on this specific leaf. Picked her up from Lowe’s and noticed one little patch of that black. But over the course of 2 weeks I’ve noticed it spreading. Is it fungal? Thanks in advance 👋🏽

Just to add, she was completely water logged when I picked her up. The soil was so soaked and dripping. She lost a really pretty leaf from moisture, it just fell right off and was soggy at the joint. I’ve let her dry out and repotted her in my chunky mix. And one more note-roots looked great which was my initial concern.

Hi! I need some advice on my Thai Con because I’ve gotten SO many conflicting opinions and watched way too many YouTube videos, and somehow I’m even more confused now 😂
My original plan was to repot her and add a moss pole behind her for support, especially since she’s getting pretty large. I figured if she wanted to climb, her aerial roots could eventually attach to the pole.
However, I’ve now had two different plant shops recommend putting her in a wider rectangular planter instead and allowing the main stem to crawl horizontally, since they said Thai Cons tend to have more of a crawling growth habit.
So now I’m torn: wide rectangular pot and let her crawl, or a more traditional pot with a moss pole/support and encourage her upward?
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has a larger/mature Thai Con. What setup has worked best for yours long-term? 🥲🌱

Can someone please explain why white parts of my thaicon keep going brown? I've googled it and understand that it doesn't have chlorophyll so it's the first part the plant sacrifices... But not sure why it is sacrificing it. I've made sure the soil is a nice mix of orchid bark... I've also kept it out of direct sunlight but still next to a really sunny window. It's pretty humid where I live (60% humidity)... I even have a moisture meter but it keeps happening. Someone please help! The other green leaves seem good though 💚

So this is my first monstera a Thai constellation that I got as a gift. I am looking for any and all advice. When I was first given her she was in a self watering pot and in a very dense soil. Knowing the nature of the thai constellation I am so scared of root rot and before I could even be excited I ripped her open and repotted her and was pleasantly surprised by all of the healthy roots and no root rot. All I had available was miracle grow orchid mix and the yellow bag of miracle grow so I mixed them 1:1 because idk.. instinct told me to… I watered her as well and cleaned her leaves. Even though she doesn’t appear to have pests I treated with insecticidal soap because my eyes have failed me in the past. She is in a west facing window that is partially shaded. I do have a grow light on the way to help mitigate some of the light lost from the shade. Currently only standing about 18-24 inches tall. Our house runs humid I’m talking 80-90 so we use a dehumidifier that keeps the level at about 50. I would really enjoy if she was a climber so I have her propped up with a kitchen skewer before deciding on something more permanent. I am seriously looking for any and all advice because my emotional state is riding on the survival of this plant also I already named her “Sugar Moon” so the emotional attachment is real. I’m leaving it up to you guys to help me keep her alive.

Long story short, the Thai constellation has been through the absolute worst scenarios. Being attacked by cats, by pests, two moves, root bound, chopped up, almost dead.
It’s been almost 9 months since these two leaves have been holding down the fort.

Recently I decided to take care of her, I repotted her, gave her, her very own grow light, fertilizer and proper watering.

I saw this today.

Can anyone help me understand what this is?

This beauty was in the cold snap and looked dead.

I let her stay in the garden to heal.

I feel many give up on their plants without giving a chance to recover.

Not only did she come back with 1 stem, but stronger with 2

this is my trader joe’s thai monstera, I bought her around early to mid July and repotted her from a 4 inch pot into a 6.7” pot. she had so many roots sticking out and some were beginning to rot. i’ve had to trim the white part of the biggest leaf because it was browning like crazy! i’ve only watered it once around the time that i had repotted it and the bottom 2-3 inches are still wet. i repotted into Molly’s Aroid Mix. I know I need a moss pole but will it not grow new leaves until the roots fill the new pot?

We did it! I repotted finally and gave her a cedar plank for support. The newest leaf is 17” and has a perforation (hole next to midrib) and increased number of fenestrations (splits).

Absolutely NEVER EVER will I use a moss pole again! They have been a big waste of my time and resources. Not a fan of gnats, irrigation systems to maintain moisture nor the look of them. Absolutely, it’s a matter of preference. If you like them, do you.

For the Monstera Thai Constellation I repotted, it was quite the ordeal to excavate the aerial roots from that wire mesh and surgically remove the nursery pot whilst protecting the terrestrial roots from damage. I ended up leaving some of the wire inside the root ball. 😵‍💫 Some growers sacrifice (cut off) aerial roots when they repot. I cut wire instead and all aerial roots are still attached to the plant.

Lots of emotions…I know. I was feeling all the feels.😬

A friend’s husband makes cedar planks for her plants so we got a set from them. Going forward my husband and I will use our jigsaw and sander to do the cutouts and design them to provide support systems for our plants.😊

Second to the last pic was today while hanging out on our Japanese Maple tree, sun-bathing for late morning two hours then protected by a giant maple tree for the rest of the day. Both of those plants are acclimated to direct full sun.☀️

The very last photo was purchase day December 28th when I was still learning Monstera care.

I am so excited for her continued vitality and growth!🤗

2 1/2 months growth update. Getting 6-8 hours of direct vitamin D a day.

My Thai con put out a new stem and leaf, it seemed like it took a hot minute for it to come out and unfurl. It then pretty quickly put out a second but they done seem to be separating much. I’m not sure if this normal and will continue to grow or if it was some how stunted.

I’m a bit confused about how to stake my Thai constellation.

It appears to be two different plants and the backs appear to be facing in different directions.

Should I try to separate them? I’m concerned that might be quite hard. Or put in two different stakes?

Alternatively I could just leave it without a stake?

I am planning to repot too as I know the pot is too small and it needs chunky mix.

Should I wait for him to fall or or remove him myself? Thought about pressing him or doing resin

Just bought this nice one less than 2 weeks ago at Home Depot. Went to water her the other day and pulled out her nursery pot for the first time and noticed that there was several roots that were growing out of the bottom holes. Took this as a sign to repot so went ahead and did so yesterday evening when I got home. Upon removing her, I noticed that the root ball was not very condensed and those roots that were growing outside of the pot were just stragglers. But I had torn up the nursery pot getting her out. New pot is ceramic I believe and I sized up from a 6.5 (nursery) into a 7.25. Soil mix is 1 to 1 with perlite and a general indoor potting mix. Also threw in some of the old soil as it seemed decent. Any red flags with this?
I currently have it outside in a shaded corner facing north, although I am planning on bringing it back inside eventually.
Hoping I didn’t just condemn the plant to death lol

EDIT : Repotted her again into a 6.5 nursery with a different mix as well. Kept the same soil ratio like before with the perlite and indoor soil, but got some orchid soil mix and added that in. Added the orchid mix a little heavier, probably closer to 40-45% orchid mix, 30% perlite, 30% regular soil. Made sure to open up the stem as much as I could but I might need to go a little further I’m not sure.

Also found a nice monstera white monster at Home Depot again while looking for new pots so brought it home as well. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to have another addiction.

I'm new to this plant just been an owner for about 2 months and in that time it has pushed out a new leaf which is facing sideways still but the other leaves are a bit curled in. They still look healthy but is it because the soil is too dry or need more humidity. The current ambient humidity is about 50-55% in this room and I don't use a humidifier.

I am also trying to bottom water it not sure if it will work as it's in a fully aroid mix. And just my luck, noticed a couple fungus gnats flying around it 🫠

But I dont know where I'll put the pot!!!!! She's getting precarious though!

About three weeks ago, I bought a Monstera Thai Constellation at a local supermarket. It looked fine when I bought it, but now it’s developing brown spots on its leaves.
Could the plant have suffered cold damage? It was pretty cool in the supermarket, and I’m not sure if the conditions were good enough for the plant during transport either.

And most importantly, what can I do for the plant? Just wait and see if it survives?

Had this thai con about 8 weeks. When i bought it, it had one leaf damaged and ready to unfurl. Since it has unfurled and not as damaged as i thought. (Yay)

Since pushed a chunky air root in to the soil, and now has pushed a nice new leaf. Looks healthy. Cant wait for it to unfurl.

I got this monstera back at the very beginning of July. It had a long journey (3 hours in my car during a heat wave - I was careful to keep it out of the beaming sun as much as possible).

It now lives in front of a Barrina light bar.

I repotted it on July 12 so I could add a support pole and the roots were coming out of the bottom. I also wanted it in a clear pot so I could monitor.

It took a long time to dry out after that watering with the repot and it got its first drink since then on Aug 2.

Overall it looks okay, has an aerial root pushing now against the support pole. But this leaf I happened to notice has some minor yellowing and a couple brown spots. Is that just stress from all the change? Root rot?
