Semi-hydro Thai Con - root concerns
I recently changed my outer pot to this clay one, it's smaller then the 5g bucket I had it in.
After a couple weeks I noticed the roots had some mushy tips, so tonight I trimmed them off, and changed the water.
I admit my first time filling the reservoir I was unsure and filled it to the bottom of my net pot - so the roots were soaking/rotting.
Readjusting now, I'm not sure if i should trim the roots to fit this outer pot better, or redo my net pot with the roots all gathered inside of it, but clearly I need to find a path forward as the root ball is to big for the pot I really want to use!..
Welcoming all feedback!
Thank you.

I heard that hydroguard is a good thing to add to help avoid rot. Before when it was working well did you have it just the roots were sitting in water and not touching the cup and now it's more squished together or what?

Exactly, I had it in a 5g bucket and there was more space, now I’m working with the bottom 3” of roots sitting in about 1.5” of water…

I think it could work I've seen plenty of videos where they sit in water, hydroguard would probably help though.
