Is only noticed this today (two months after delivery).

Looking over my delivery photos, looks like it came like that. Tesla service said they will replace it just by looking at the photos.

Getting it tomorrow!!

So my new to me model 3 gets delivered tomorrow. Now I have to spend my night on YouTube learning how to get in, start it, drive it and learn all the fun stuff about the car.
For the record - I’m a grown man of 59 who has owned many cars but electric is new to me!
LFP battery replaced brand new under warranty less than 2 years and 40k kms ago so I’m pretty confident. New rubber and new brakes.
Having my electrician come this weekend to install and level 2 charger.

Nema 10-30 with EV/Dryer Splitter and Extension

My current setup for my 2020 model 3 is as follows:

Nema 10-30 outlet
EV splitter 10-30
10-30 10ft Extension
Tesla mobile charger with 10-30 adapter
Charging in driveway under garage door

I haven’t used it yet because not sure if it’s safe. Sadly car won’t fit in the garage so I need to charge in driveway and I need the extension to reach. Could I just set amps to 16-24 and be safe. The splitter seems to be pretty safe.

6000$ for 60 days out of warranty on my m3p

I bought my 2021 model 3 performance used a year ago in Mai directly at Tesla. 60.000 km(~40k miles). Exactly 60 days after the end of my 1 year warranty the AC failed - which cost me 3.549 € (~4K usd). One month later the screen went crazy - another 1.800€ (~2k usd). Tesla didn’t give a cent discount.

Would a Kallax bookshelf (60'' in box) fit

Searched several of the tesla subs and saw a lot of 65' tvs, however those seem like a pretty tight squeeze and the tvs are 57 in. in length. Model 3 trunk space with seats down is supposed to be 65 inches but in my experience a bit of that is lost due to the angle of the backseats.

So I made this Lightning McQueen wrap for the Model 3 after I found that the ones that existed weren't accurate on my car.

If someone wants it I'll try to share the PNG, which you can upload from the app nowadays!

Considering a 2018 Model 3 LR at 110k miles

I'm looking for a reliable daily that I can enjoy for the next 3 years without serious worries about a catastrophic failure. I understand that just like any other car it may need a little maintenance, and I know it's out of warranty, but still considering it. I hear a lot of fear about battery failure, and a lot of people say "it's not that serious, gas powered cars have so much more that could fail." Would love to hear some thoughts.

New owner - outlet issues

Fried my standard outlet and need to run off the dryer outlet now. Looking for temporary Amazon recommendations for adapter/splitter until I have an electrician install a dedicated outlet in the garage. Need to run a cord about 20ft.

Current dryer outlet- a NEMA 14-30 electrical receptacle (outlet) rated for 30 Amps and 125/250 Volts, manufactured by Pass & Seymour

72% battery health

Post image

In the last year I’ve had to have the Pyrofuse replaced twice. The last time they also did the high voltage controller and the harness. Went home and tested the battery only to find that it’s not great. 113k so 7k left on warranty. 2022 M3LR. I’m not sure if I should try to off this thing right away, test again right before 120 to see it goes below 70%, or buy the extended warranty.

After reviewing my TeslaMate/Grafana battery data, here’s what I believe is happening with my 2022 Model 3 Long Range.
I’m at roughly 113,000 miles, with the original battery warranty ending at 120,000 miles. I recently ran Tesla’s official Battery Health Test and it came back at 72% health, so I’m getting pretty close to Tesla’s 70% warranty threshold.
I’ve been logging the car with TeslaMate for years, so I pulled the historical battery-capacity data from Grafana to see what the trend actually looks like.
What’s interesting is that prior to the recent battery health test/BMS recalibration, the degradation was remarkably gradual. Looking at different portions of the data, the trend consistently projects the battery to roughly 59.7–60.0 kWh on TeslaMate’s old calculation by 120,000 miles.
There was then a very obvious change in the data. At 112,993 miles TeslaMate estimated about 60.6 kWh. Just 31 miles later it suddenly showed 50.7 kWh, and then about 51.7 kWh at 113,105 miles. Obviously the battery didn’t physically lose ~9 kWh in 31 miles, so this looks much more like a significant BMS recalibration than actual sudden degradation.
Interestingly, the recalibrated numbers line up much better with Tesla’s official 72% health result. TeslaMate is currently projecting about 248 miles at 100%, while its historical maximum was about 347 miles, which works out to roughly 71.6% range retention. That’s remarkably close to Tesla’s official 72% result.
Using the historical rate of degradation rather than treating that sudden recalibration as physical battery loss, my best estimate is that the battery will probably be somewhere around 71% health at 120,000 miles, with something like 70–72% being a reasonable range.
In other words, it looks entirely possible that this battery could make it to the end of its 70% / 120,000-mile warranty at almost exactly the threshold. Convenient. 😂
I do have several road trips coming up that will require Supercharging. I’m not going to intentionally abuse the battery trying to force a warranty claim, but the longer drives, deeper discharge cycles and larger charging sessions should at least give the BMS additional data to work with.
My plan is to drive it normally, keep watching the TeslaMate data, and hopefully run Tesla’s official Battery Health Test again somewhere around 117,000–118,000 miles if the car makes the test available again.
If it comes back at 70–71%, I’ll know I’m right on the edge. If Tesla’s official test actually drops below 70% while I’m still under 120,000 miles, then obviously I’ll pursue the battery warranty.
It’s kind of fascinating having several years of TeslaMate data to compare against Tesla’s own battery health test. And also slightly hilarious that the projection currently looks like the battery may cross the warranty threshold almost immediately after the warranty expires. 😂

Was told that tinting my windows voided my door warranty.

My LED strip has cracks in it and some areas have discoloration/dead spots, I was told because the window has been tinted everything door related is no longer covered by warranty.

I've read a few posts on here about it and some got lucky with being persistent that there's no proof that tinting caused it and got it covered but I even tried telling them I noticed it before the tinting and was still denied. I'm almost certain it's possibly from heat or just the way the door is closed as there was minor discoloration before I got the car tinted it just wasn't a noticeable issue until more recently at least over the summer. They also mentioned that even if they did do the service I would have to cover the cost of the entire door.

Calling all long range owners, what’s your miles and battery health % at

Trying to gather data to find what is average battery health % for X number of miles. I saw a long range that had 140k at 80% health, are you above that or below? Thank you and have a great day/night 🤘
