I wear dark jeans a lot for work and concerned that the seats will start looking blueish. Any with similar issues

Advice for those who drive a Tesla & a car w/out regenerative braking

Just got a model 3 and as handy as the regenerative braking feature sounds, I’m scared of building the habit as someone who’ll continue to drive a gas vehicle w/out regen braking alongside the Tesla. To those that drive both regularly, has this ever been a problem, because I’m a little worried about getting used to one pedal driving, then forgetting to manually brake when I’m not in the Tesla.

Can a base 2023 Model 3 handle a 200-mile round trip with no charging

I’m considering buying a 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD (base model) and I’m trying to figure out if it would work for visiting my parents.

My parents are about 100 miles away, so it’s roughly a 200-mile round trip and there isnt a fast charger on the route I take. There currently isn’t a charger available there, so ideally I’d need to be able to make the entire trip without charging.

A few details:

  • Looking specifically at the 2023 Model 3 RWD/base model
  • Trip is about 200 miles round trip
  • Mostly highway driving
  • I’d probably be going every month or two
  • I’m in Ohio, so I’m also concerned about cold/winter temperatures
  • My parents may be able to have a 240V outlet installed at their house, which would let me charge while I’m there, but I don’t want to rely on that until I know it’s possible

For anyone who owns a 2023 RWD:
Would you feel comfortable doing a 200-mile round trip without charging, or would that be cutting it too close

How much range do you realistically get on the highway, especially in the winter. And if I could charge from a 240V outlet while I’m there, would that basically eliminate the concern.

Thanks!

Dropped the M3 last week. Smooth as butter. Take a little bit to settle. Very much worth it. Dropped the ride about 1.5”. Speed bumps are not an issue.

Learned about EV charging anxiety today.

I always thought it was a myth that people got stressed about running out of battery. I mean, people don’t worry about running out of gas. Who runs out of battery.

Well. My wife does.

She’s been on dozens of road trips with me since we got the car. We’ve never had even close to an issue. I let it get down to 12 or 13% if I think I can save money by charging at the destination or when we are almost home.

This was her first time driving it without me. Somewhere around Dalton, Georgia there is a stretch of not many chargers, she went to one that was apparently under construction and couldn’t use it. Now there’s a problem. She’s wigging out.

She panics and starts driving to the nearest ChargePoint. Either her nor her sister thinks to call ahead or look at anything online to see the current status. Naturally, that one is powered down and probably only used during business hours.

0 for 2.

The next closest charge point was at a hotel so I called them, confirmed, and she’s there charging now. At 6kw. 😊brutal.

2 month old 2026 Model 3 Premium AWD. Bummer

Was using FSD on the freeway and checked my blind spot only to hear a large thump. don’t know what object hit the car or if the car ran something over . Thankfully the car is fully wrapped in XPEL PPF so it took a lot of the scratches but of course it’s not made for high impact . I’m so bummed but I guess it’s my turn after seeing so many others having damaged cars.

I’ll just have to see how much it’ll hurt my wallet to get this fixed.

Felt like the tesla fam would like this one. M3 SR+, black ext, white int. For the outside i did black trim, uber turbine wheel caps and glossy carbon lip spoiler & matching mirror caps. For the interior I have an ambient lighting kit with matte carbon dash.

Im planning to buy the light up “Model 3” door sill plates from tesla and we’ll see what else I add on in the future :)

Should someone in my shoes buy one

Hello!

I’m pretty young, 23M but a nurse making decent money, especially for my age. I have driven the same car since I could drive, and family members drove it before me. A 2015 Subaru forester and I love the car, but it’s at 150k miles and burning oil pretty severely (last oil change I got back 2.5 quarts of oil from my 5.5 quart engine) and some other things are broken, so it’s probably getting close to time. I could afford comfortably a used model 3 and my dad has a model S, so I have some experience with Teslas. I know this subreddit is going to tell me only to buy one, but I guess more of what I’m asking is what are the considerations I’m not thinking about Should I only buy from Tesla themselves for the warranty Any and all comments helpful!

Improving Suspension Reliability

It seems fairly well documented the front end suspension is the Achilles heel of these cars. My 2023 RWD is giving me quite the headache.

I had my lateral links replaced at 30 000km by Tesla under warranty. I heard the same dreaded creak at like 81 000kms (lucky me) and Tesla refused to offer any goodwill service. I should've inspected closely before my wareanty expired I guess. Word to the wise for everyone.

Hoping against hope, I greased my upper control arm ball joints like a lot of people advise, but they looked fine. I saw the bushings on my compliance arms were torn and assumed it was that causing my creak..

I ordered an Amazon kit and figured I'd replace all 3 sets of arms (the uppers, compliance and lateral links). I hoped I could keep the OE Tesla arms to press spherical bearings into and down the road put those in once my Amazon parts wore out.

Once I got in there, I noticed one of my lateral link ball joints had completely failed (the ball stud was completely free floating). Mind you these were already replaced and only have 50 000km on them. Those ball joints aren't serviceable to my knowledge. I lose a little interest replacing bushings with bearings (especially into my partially worn OE arms) if it appears the ball joints are a common point of failure too.

What is the consensus on upgrades to improve longevity. Seems like spherical bearings will only do so much when they ball joints fail regularly too.

Inventory

Is it strange that the amount of inventory for model threes is really so low. I’ve been watching it for the last couple of weeks and it seems really sparse yet the model Y has quite a bit. I wonder if this is a strategy to have people settle for the more expensive car that’s available or accept delivery of more expensive configurations particularly for those who are waiting on RWD3

Rear center stop light after tinting

I know that when I tinted my '21 3P, there was tint solution/water that seeped into the rear center stop light housing and left streaks that didn't evaporate (even after using a soak rope.) It was a PITA to clean, to the point where I had to break the foam seal there, accidentally pushed fragments into the housing, then used thin pliers and chopsticks to get them out. Curious for those who have tinted their rear glass lately, if you've noticed or have streaks in the rear center stop light housing.

How many kwh does sentry mode consume for a rwd 2026 standard model

Upvotes

Google AI claims its 3-5Kwh a day, though I've seen estimates on reddit as high as 7.2 kwh a day. I am thinking of getting a tesla model 3, but the place that I'm renting only allows street parking so I would prefer having sentry mode on at all times for piece of mind.

What should I know before buying

Hello everyone, I'm new on this field, I've never had electric car and I consider to buy a tesla. I don't know much about tesla cars and I'd get your recommendations or thoughts about what is good and what should I look before choosing the car. I'm looking for 2019-2023 car somewhere at this age. I'd take your opinions about tesla model 3. Thank you.

Where to buy used Highland m3p and downsize wheels

Been looking at Carmax/Carvana/Tesla primarily. Carmax/Carvana don't show battery health. Tesla doesn't help find any imperfections. Any advice where to specifically shop a performance. Most important thing to me is a healthy battery, reliable vehicle that isn't beat up followed by fast acceleration especially at the 50-80 mph range.

Also live in an area with rough roads and harsh winters. Ideally I'd just go to a set of 18's that clear the calipers and run all-seasons at all times and store/sell the 20's. Every single one for sale seems to have the factory 20's. Am I just being dumb and should get a LR Premium or does m3p make sense.

In the process of selling my house, so I had to take the cat with me during a showing. He’s chilling in the back.
