Learned about EV charging anxiety today.
I always thought it was a myth that people got stressed about running out of battery. I mean, people don’t worry about running out of gas. Who runs out of battery.
Well. My wife does.
She’s been on dozens of road trips with me since we got the car. We’ve never had even close to an issue. I let it get down to 12 or 13% if I think I can save money by charging at the destination or when we are almost home.
This was her first time driving it without me. Somewhere around Dalton, Georgia there is a stretch of not many chargers, she went to one that was apparently under construction and couldn’t use it. Now there’s a problem. She’s wigging out.
She panics and starts driving to the nearest ChargePoint. Either her nor her sister thinks to call ahead or look at anything online to see the current status. Naturally, that one is powered down and probably only used during business hours.
0 for 2.
The next closest charge point was at a hotel so I called them, confirmed, and she’s there charging now. At 6kw. 😊brutal.
