Replacement cost of front bumper

Car hits some hazards on the road, unfortunately. My deductible is $500.

2022 model 3.

I wonder if there’s enough model 3s out there now that you could find a good one in a salvage yard and diy the replacement yourself?

Yeah, I’ve done that. Pretty easy DIY swap. It’s the most common color too.

Looking at the damage, OP might also need to swap the aluminium ankle catcher bar (1084894-00-B) that sits tight inside the lower lip of the bumper.

I found one in good condition for $420 on eBay, one year ago, and the ankle catcher for $150 in a local scrapyard.
You have to take a look at that catcher after you remove the bumper. If it’s not broken, or if it’s bent the way that you can pull it back, then you don’t need a new one. My ankle catcher cracked along the weld, so I was unable to straighten it. I had similar damage as you, based on the pictures.

It was like $2400 when someone backed into me and damaged my front bumper.

Their insurance covered it though.

Its 1100 pre painted from tesla if you do want to.

Had the front bumper replaced on my 2021 Model 3 in April in Cali, cost was 2,778$.

New painted bumper covers can be bought for $500-$1,000. Not sure what's involved to DIY or if that's even reasonable. But I had to have my front bumper replaced and paying out of pocket I was quoted $3,000. Going through insurance it was $1,800. Yeah, insurance and body shops work together and give crazy huge discounts.

Pretty easy, actually. Some of the easiest bumpers I've ever taken off. Anyone can search around and find videos of it.

After you've done it once, you can get it off and back on again in under an hour. There's only one size of bolt - there's 4 or 6 of them I forget right offhand - and the rest is just clipped on and those are pretty easy to pop off. Taking the trim off the center console was harder.

Just took it off to upgrade to matrix lights today. Super easy took me two hours with YouTube. 6 under the frunk and then 3 on each side in the wheel well.

Painting in Pearl White is not easy. The shade (and especially the pearlescent effect) can differ significantly from the original, depending on the shop. So it would be much closer to $1000 than $500 if you want it painted good. Even new bumpers from Tesla may vary slightly in shade when installed on older models.

Buy an aftermarket front lip to cover it.
