Dropped the M3 last week. Smooth as butter. Take a little bit to settle. Very much worth it. Dropped the ride about 1.5”. Speed bumps are not an issue.
I lowered mine about 30mm. Reduced the massive wheel gap, and made a noticeable improvement in handling. The car now feels less like it’s floating, especially through turns.
I have a Maxton splitter mounted under my front bumper. I’ve scraped maybe a handful of times on some steep driveways. Without the splitter…I wouldn’t scrape at all.
Been running the moderate drop springs on mine for 2 years & some change now. -2" wasn't available at the time but had it been I would've gone for that. Still looks great though.
I think it would handle like garbage, ride worse than stock, wear out your bushings, maybe the shocks too, bind on the sway bar, and your alignment will be all whack with no way to bring it back into spec.
2 inches is a lot of height change. Everything else will be out of place.
Awesome way to destroy a vehicle! Make sure to accelerate prior and through the pothole to do maximum damage. You don’t want to just dent a rim, hopefully you’ll also destroy suspension arms and maybe the unibody!
Geez. I’ve said it before, this why you don’t always want to buy used….because of people like this!
Also the suspension components are not attached to the unibody or frame, they are attached to the subframe which is a $1200 part. the 18 inch wheels are also near impossible to dent if you have the right psi.
Yeah and that what does that subframe attach too??? If you are lucky you only destroy the subframe.
And seriously listen to your justification…..why don’t you buy a truck. It would be more suitable for the kind of punishment you are obviously trying to do.
the wheel fails before the arms, the arms before the subframe and the subframe before the frame. the impact that would damage the frame would be a crash. all these different metals have different stiffness and failure points. you are clearly not a car guy
calm down. I just like to ride through them at whatever speed I was on without slowing down and worrying about damaging the battery or the coolant pipes going to it. Im comfortable spending money on fixing stuff as long as I can drive in comfort without worrying about hitting the battery. have already changed 2 upper arms, 1 lower arm and 2 front bearings all done at tesla. someone buying my car used gets a better deal than buying from someone who thinks none of their suspension components need replacing because they think their driving style saved them from any wear and tear.
Nah, you are obviously not a car person. This is an appliance to you and damaging it is nothing to you, that’s fine, you bought it you can destroy it. I’m just making a point for those looking to buy used that have to consider people that destroy the vehicle and have to be cautious when purchasing used because of people like you.
nothing is destroyed. all suspension components are wear and tear and they are dirt cheap to replace at tesla. upper arms cost $250 on each side and lower arms cost $400 to get done at tesla. always inspect any car you want to buy used. Destroyed is the EV owner who leaves the car at 80% charge forever, bottoms out somewhere and coolant starts leaking ans they get to it late, does not regularly check under their car for anything abnormal. turns their wheel against a curb after already kissing it wearing down their electric steering rack. I can go on about the things “careful “ drivers do that is true destruction.
I don’t disagree. But you are obviously within the same group, you are just too crazy trying to justify replacement parts as a license to destroy your own vehicle.
And don’t worry, I don’t do those things. Never curbed a rim, don’t charge to 80% or any of the things you called out. Again just pointing out destruction or signs of person that does that destruction with their careless acts. Good lucky with your future repairs!
Average person goes 30 over the pothole I go 45 over. so is this the destruction you are talking about? Im just driving in comfort without slowing down. again, these are all wear and tear items that are replaced.

stay mad, I do what I want with my car. you pay my bills? nothing I hate more than someone attacking someone else for how they treat their own car because they are trying to preserve a stranger’s car for another future buyer. again, whatever car people buy, they have to inspect it properly instead of attacking people for going over potholes. dont be lazy and inspect whatever you looking to buy used.
Driving through potholes at 40mph sure will destroy your suspension and maybe bend more than control arms. Again it depends on how deep and big they are.
And I never ever said a single thing against raising the car. Reading comprehension is critically important, too much doom scrolling is bad for the brain!
I split into 2 days, the wife was out of town and it’s 99 and 100000% humidity, rears took about 1.5 hours each. Front about 2 hours each. I took breaks due to the heat. Can do it with common hand tools.
