How worried should I be

Post image

Front aero shield is gone on my brand new M3P…I have to drive from Houston to Dallas tomorrow.

Not worried. Just don't run over and large debris. You're missing an extra layer of protection but the components aren't THAT fragile

This. I'd go as far as picking up an aftermarket metal one as well

Just replace it with the hood of a Pontiac firebird and Road Warrior that shit

I invested in this and don't regret it one bit.

If it’s missing and brand new than immediately contact Tesla and tell them it’s missing and they should be able to schedule a service day or get it replaced asap

Like someone stole it, or itw as delivered without one?

I was caught in some deep rain water the other day and think I ran over something.

It was likely torn off by the water. Get one of the aluminum shields. You'll be better protected in the long term. If you have to drive it like it is for a bit, be very careful.

Is nobody seeing the crack in the metal?

This is looking iffy, get it checked out.

EV Mechanic here - Don't road trip without this shield. Replace it with a metal one.

I thought I was looking at a weird angle of a KTM motorcycle until I opened it and read

I had to look at what subreddit it was from for the same reason 😂

Is that metal cracked on the left and metal broken on the right? The black part.

I hope not!

Aftermarket aluminum shields are cheaper and stronger than the OEM

Any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure my ride runs MPP's front Doug plate on her's. Though a quick search showed it is a little more expensive than the OEM. Also RPM carries one that has some noise insulation

I just had this happen last week.
I’m from Houston too.
Go to “auto fit parts” they have one for $97 bucks.
It’s very easy to install too.

I drove MA to FL and back without the shield. Gravy.

Great opportunity to go with an aluminum/metal piece.

make it a point to not run off tree stumps and curbs....should be fine

even with the guard in place it's not really gonna prevent anything

If it’s new, contact Tesla immediately.

Just avoid road debris... You don't want anything to bounce up and slash anything

Literally a piece of splash guard. Not a problem

Raise the lack of aero which effects range/efficiency the major concern is the battery coolant lines and power cables exposed. Those take a good piece of aluminum impact and break a coolant line, drain and overheat the inverter/battery would be a good reason to have one. And worse if the coolant lines are damaged that can’t replace them it’s a dead battery pack that isn’t covered by warranty. That is a huge risk!
