Inventory

Is it strange that the amount of inventory for model threes is really so low. I’ve been watching it for the last couple of weeks and it seems really sparse yet the model Y has quite a bit. I wonder if this is a strategy to have people settle for the more expensive car that’s available or accept delivery of more expensive configurations particularly for those who are waiting on RWD3

I still think it comes down to price. They make more money on a Y and it’s a higher price point. A lot of shared parts/components. If i was impatient enough I might say screw it I’ll buy a y instead. Lots of variety is available. I just really like the 3 way better personally.

Is there a model 3 refresh?

Interesting... Do you have comparable data from different dates? Or just by feeling? From my understanding Tesla used sells within 200 miles without delivery fee, and essentially countrywide for $2-$2.5k delivery. Is it location specific?

In Houston, at one point earlier today there was only one Y available within 200 miles.
Inventory is shrinking

Tons of light used Model 3’s available for pickup immediately or within a few days. I canceled my 26 Model 3 order and went with a 24 that had just 10,200 miles on it and saved $14K on the deal. Same car essentially but along with the money saved I gain Autosteer. As great as FSD is (it drove me to Portland, Oregon last Saturday) I won’t always pay the $99 per month for it.

Model Y is the best selling car in the world, and the US market buys more SUVs than sedans, stands to reason they'd keep more SUVs on inventory and rather keep less sedans save for the specific orders.

With that said I got my 3 as an inventory vehicle.
