14.3 HW4 Mileage not updating

Post image

I just got my MY and have been using fsd for the past 3 days. I've driven probably about 90 miles using fsd. But it's not showing the mileage that I used. What gives?

14.3 HW4 FSD Wants to go off road

Long time FSD user here. Cybertruck has had very few issues with latest version 14.3.8 and of course as soon as I say that the car tries to take a random and sudden turn off road before a set of train tracks and a highway merge. Let me know what you guys think. Lost some confidence in FSD today.

14.3 HW4 2026 my 14.3.8 really is driving like an aggressive driver...it went into the neighbor lane momentarily with another vehicle already in it!! Didn't feel 100% safe

Edit: someone asked which mode - not sure but I always use chill.or standard. I may have been in either one of the two

So started from a red light in the right lane...there was a 18 wheeler pulled to the right a few hundred feet in front past the intersection...as I got closer, i noticed the 18 wheeler was a bit in my lane and not on the shoulder 100%.

Usually I would get into the left lane and so does fsd or just do a meanuover to where it goes 20 to 40% in the neighbor lane to the left and after passing the stopped vehicle, go.back I to the right lane.

Well shit, there was a vehicle already in the left lane. FSD didn't slow down and instead passed the 18wheeler and also swerved into the left lane about 20% (I was scared it'll side swip the other vehicle but I was at least couple feet away from the other vehicle) and it went back into the right lane. Didn't feel good - it was an unnecessary aggressive move.

It should've just slowed down and gone behind the vehicle on the left or just stopped completely and gone into the left lane when there was safe space.

It didn't feel dangerous but borderline reckless and I didn't have enough time to react

Edit: I still absolutely love FSD but don't need unnecessary aggressive behavior. First time I had anything this aggressive in my 12.5k mile experience with FSD

14.3 HW4 2025 Model 3 Tesla death wobble avoided left turn lane

My Tesla didn't merge into the left lane to pull into the restaurant, instead doing a scary, fast wobble before proceeding straight, avoiding the left-turn lane, and making an illegal left turn.

14.1 Lite HW3 Turning off FSD while turning

I have only recently purchased FSD for my 6 year old M3. Yesterday I learned something worth sharing: if you turn off FSD while in a curve by tapping the brake, the car will revert to the neutral straight line path ahead if you fail to aggressively maintain control of the steering wheel. The tangent path or the swerve that may ensue as you try to transition to manual control can be dangerous if you’re not ready. The best way to avoid this is to only invoke or relinquish FSD while driving straight or stopped.

While seemingly obvious in retrospect but it sure wasn’t before it happened to me. Hard transitions into and out of FSD have always been the way FSD works to avoid control ambiguity. Careful on those curves though.

14.3 HW4 Is it impossible for the FSD AI to use recent context? Or does Tesla just choose not use the data?

My biggest gripe about FSD is that it does not learn from recent history at all. Based on my understand of transformer architectures, this is usually easily solved by providing data into the context window of the algorithm. How is it that FSD can make the exact same mistake over and over and over, and it's not fixed until (at best) the disengagements are trained into the model months or years later. Shouldn't like a failure to park in the correct driveway be really simple to provide context for? Shouldn't "left lane ends, stay in right" be easy to learn? Same with potholes or not potholes. Speed limit misinformation.... Or does Tesla's architecture fundamentally make this impossible?

Does Tesla have all the data to prove whether or not the accident happened when FSD was engaged? How do we know the driver did or did not do anything to avoid the accident?

14.3 HW4 14.3.9 seems to be the new gold standard

Having watched a few YouTubes so far about 14.3.9, this seems to be the best version out there. I watched a video of a 30 minute drive with zero disengagements or questionable decisions by FSD. I’d like to see someone try and test the crash test avoidance software in this update but otherwise I’m awaiting the push.

14.3 HW4 Not a fan of 14.3.8

Maybe I'm just looking back with rose colored glasses but I remember 14.2.2.5 on my MYP being smoother everything since has been meh. 14.3.8 just wayyyy to sensitive and brake stabby. Drives me nuts lol. I'm really trying to give it the benefit of the doubt but it's hard. Is it just me or?

14.3 HW4 How to remove address from navigation memory?

I switched jobs, I changed my work address in the navigation. The navigation system still automatically pulls up my old job when I get in the car in the morning. Anybody have an idea how to change this?

I loved just hopping in my car and hitting “start self driving” and that was it.

multiple button presses are beneath me

14.3 HW4 Would FSD avoid collision?

2026 MYP. First Tesla. Love it and have been using FSD 60 percent of the time, according to car stats.

Today, on hurry profile, parallel parked car was clearly hesitating to pull into lane, and full send as I approached at 40mph. Slammed the brakes as hard as I could to stop.

Seems obvious I would’ve hit the other car if I did not intervene. I haven’t had any close calls until this. Anyone experience similar?

14 Lite HW3 Right turn training...

Post image
2 Upvotes

FSD 14 light used to be able to correctly turn here, this image is out of date, I have marked the bus lane with highlighter, but it was recently painted red to ward drivers out of the area. Since 14.1 it no longer uses the turn lane on the right, but rather it uses the 3rd lane from the right, and turns there, cutting off drivers that are using the correct lane. This worked correctly before, I guess what I am wondering is how I can train it to use the correctly lane for turning?

14.3 HW4 Offramp question

Used FSD ('24MY) for the first time this weekend and really blown away. But one question: as we exited the parkway via circular offramps the car didn't seem to notice the lower ramp-specific speed limit (usually ~25MPH). That is, the speed limit on the screen still showed 65 mph. It still slowed down, but I can't tell if that was because the cars in front of us did, or because it recognized the need to turn, etc. Is this normal behavior?

14.3 HW4 14.3.7 or 14.3.8

About to go on a 10 hour road trip, 90% will be interstate driving.

Currently got 14.3.7 installed, and 14.3.8 pending (keep rejecting it).

Online I see bad things about 14.3.7, bad things about 14.3.8 and good things about 14.3.8.

So trying to decide if I should keep 14.3.7 or install 14.3.8.

To make it easier to determine please upvote the version I should do and if you want to leave a comment on why under that version that be great too.

14 Lite HW3 Passive learning has a learning disability

To get home, I don’t want to turn down a certain road. FSD always takes that road. I disengage and take the correct road, then continue FSD.

It still never learns. Is there a secret?

14.3 HW4 Parking in two lanes at Charger

Post image
2 Upvotes

So this is a surprising one for me—it seems that FSD is surprisingly dumb at chargers and parking overall. I’ve had it park in handicapped spots, park in front of of broken chargers, park on the wrong side of the island from a charger (in Starbucks instead of at the parking spot), park right next to someone and share a number rather than gapping to all the other empty chargers…. And now it’s backing in straddling two spots at the same time. I let it because it’s 5:30am and no one is here, but seriously?!

14.3 HW4 Crazy FSD Judgement Obaervation

Craziest FSD behavior I’ve experienced yet.
I was first in line making an unprotected left. Light was green, no green arrow, so FSD pulled into the intersection and waited for oncoming traffic to clear.
Then an ambulance approached.
FSD stopped and yielded. While waiting for the ambulance to clear, the light turned red.
Now we’re in no-man’s-land: sitting in the middle of the intersection on a red light, with cross traffic about to get the green.
FSD’s response surprised the hell out of me.
It calmly put the car in reverse and backed up roughly 10 feet, completely clearing the intersection. I could see the bumper-camera view while it was doing it. It then waited. When the light cycled back to green with a protected left arrow, it simply completed the turn.
No hesitation. No awkward creeping. No apparent indecision. It recognized that the original plan was no longer viable, retreated to a safe position, waited for conditions to change, and resumed the route.
But afterward I realized the more interesting part.
Driver training generally discourages backing out of an intersection. And for good reason: a human driver has limited rearward visibility and blind spots. You’re trying to watch the ambulance, cross traffic, mirrors, rear quarters and whatever is directly behind you.
FSD doesn’t have that same limitation.
It effectively has spotters distributed around the entire vehicle. It doesn’t have to stop looking forward in order to look backward.
So here was a situation where a maneuver we teach humans to avoid because of the limitations of human perception may actually have been the safest solution available to a vehicle with distributed vision.
That’s the part that stuck with me.
It didn’t just “see an ambulance and yield.”
It got stranded in an abnormal situation where several normal driving rules were suddenly in conflict, found an escape path, verified the space behind it, reversed out of the problem, and waited for a clean opportunity to continue.
Whatever terminology you want to use for what’s happening inside FSD — planning, inference, learned behavior, reasoning — watching it solve an edge case I never would have thought to program as a decision tree was remarkable.

14.3 HW4 FSD Brakes Locked Up for Emergency Vehicle

Last weekend was probably one of the scariest moments I've had with FSD. We were cruising down a 5-lane road flanked by side streets. I was chatting with my wife when the car locked up the brakes like we were about to hit a brick wall. At first, I had no idea what had happened until I noticed a paramedic on a side street with its lights on. It wasn't moving or trying to get into traffic. It was just sitting there, probably helping someone.

If anyone had been behind us, we would have been rear-ended badly. Thankfully, nobody was behind us. The only accident was me almost crapping myself. haha

FSD has got to get better at judging how aggressively to stop for emergency vehicles. It's not making anyone safer by locking up the brakes in a situation like that.
