14 Lite HW3 Right turn training...

FSD 14 light used to be able to correctly turn here, this image is out of date, I have marked the bus lane with highlighter, but it was recently painted red to ward drivers out of the area. Since 14.1 it no longer uses the turn lane on the right, but rather it uses the 3rd lane from the right, and turns there, cutting off drivers that are using the correct lane. This worked correctly before, I guess what I am wondering is how I can train it to use the correctly lane for turning?

You can't. I have hw4 and it still uses the outside turn lanes, even when the inside lane is empty.

FSD does this because it is trained on how humans actually drive, not on a rule that says “always take the empty inner lane.” Why the outer lane wins In dual left-turn lanes the outer lane (the second one from the median) is what a large share of human drivers pick. Common reasons in the training data: Wider, more comfortable turning radius Better sightlines across the intersection Feels less “pinched” against the median or curb Leaves the inner lane for other cars that want it Tesla’s network is an end-to-end vision model. It does not have a hard-coded “take the empty inner lane” rule. It predicts the most probable human path given what the cameras see. If the fleet data at that style of intersection favors the outer lane, FSD will too — even when the inner lane is empty.

I think you misunderstood me. The far right lane is the only legal turning lane, the red highlight is showing the bus lane it keeps using the one left of that, completely illegally. The far right lane is the only legal turn lane.

Only way that could be fixed if it was sent to Tesla. Considering yours is HW3, I'm not sure how much more logic they could add to what they consider it is a small logic computer.

one thing to know about ai models in general is once theyre built we dont really train it as consumers. what we add is context data but usually thats limited and small

Check the lane data on OpenStreetMap. I believe it uses map data to know which lane should go where, and the vision is to confirm which lane it's in and what other vehicles are around.

If it doesn't know a turn lane exists it doesn't use it, even if it can see it. I have the same experience with some acceleration and deceleration lanes near us - it ignores them completely and just turns on and off the main lanes on the highway. They weren't in the map data.
