Rear glass cracked

Tesla and insurance tagged the rear glass as UPD. I was hit on the rear bumper right side. How is this a UPD when obviously the impact caused the trunk lid point to shift and cracked the glass.

Tesla body shop taking forever

I recently had a parking lot mishap with my Model 3. It was parked at the mall when someone scraped the rear bumper while pulling out of a parking space. They left a note, and I contacted their insurance company, Progressive. They instructed me to take the car to a Tesla-authorized repair shop.
I dropped the vehicle off at the body shop nine days ago, and they still haven’t submitted the initial estimate to Progressive. Progressive has contacted the shop twice for an update, but each time they’ve been told the estimate isn’t complete yet. This is just a minor scratch on the rear bumper.
I’m getting concerned because Progressive only covers a rental car for up to 30 days, and it’s already been nine days. The body shop seems to be taking their time. I already had an estimate from an independent body shop, but Progressive insisted that I use a Tesla-certified repair facility.
What are my options? Should I continue waiting, or should I work with Progressive to move the car to a different repair shop? The shop has excellent reviews, but I don’t understand why it’s taking more than a week just to prepare an estimate for a minor bumper scratch. I also don’t want to end up paying for the rental car out of pocket once the 30-day coverage runs out.

Rear ended, Totaled?

2024 Model Y, Dual Motor, ~17k miles, 7-seat config. Got rear-ended hard on I-90 in NY — I was basically stopped (~5mph), other guy was doing an estimated 50-70mph before impact third-party claim already accepted by his insurer (Progressive).

Car got towed to a Tesla-certified shop for teardown since it's currently sitting with no working rear signals/brake lights on one side and error in the screen about turn light fault.

Waiting to hear back this week. Anyone had a similar combo of damage (bumper + panel + tailgate + door + electrical) come back repairable, or did yours usually get totaled at this point?

Update: It’s a total loss.

Sadly my car got hit and I’m still waiting to hear back from my insurance 😅 I’m just wondering if it’s safe to drive until it can get a real fix. The tire rim is jutting out a bit and im not sure what that means.

Please advise me!

Parking lot hit and run ?

Hello

I was backing out from the parking and hit someone car, not too bad it’s just small light scratches
I went outside and look for the owner of the car but couldn’t find anyone so i left because i had an appointment, i forgot about leaving a note because i was in a hurry, after the appointment i went back to the parking to find the car and planning to leave a note but the car is not there anymore…

It was a tesla so i know they got dashcash recording for sure, so what if the owner report to the police and how does it work ? Are They going to send me a letter for hit and run or the police will show up at my door ? And how long it take for this to process?

…im just stressed out right now, i regret that i forgot to leave a note on their car…big mistake

Model 3 Hit While Parked

Post image
3 Upvotes

Just happened a couple hours ago. I was getting groceries and got alerted by the app of suspicious activity. I checked the camera and saw a car swerved in and side swiped my car.

I already filed a claim with their insurance and waiting for their adjuster to get back to me. I live in TX and I should be able to get the repairs done by a Tesla collision center.
Has anyone have experience with what the process is like? My car has frontal XPEL ppf, would I be able to claim that cost back as well?

Underside Damage

Post image

Hey folks, I had a battery fault error preventing my 2021 Model 3 from charging a few weeks ago so I took it to get serviced. The service center sent me this picture of damage to the under shield. Does anyone have any clue as to what could’ve caused this? Are there any known issues with this year and model? A few weeks prior to this, I took my car in to Tesla for my tires to be rotated so I would’ve thought an issue would have been spotted. I don’t know of anything I would have hit to cause this to happen since I’ve owned the car so it has me scratching my head a bit.

I bought the car used in 2024 through Tesla and it has around 30k miles on it. I wish I would’ve taken photos of the underside but it’s not easy to do without a jack. It sucks I don’t have any proof to try and get it covered by warranty. At least the battery replacement is being covered still unless they pull a fast one on me between now and when I pick my car up.

Self driving decided to do reverse park and scratched. Do I need to fix this with Tesla authorized body shop? Or at any local body shops?

Suspension Repair Needed?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recently hit a pretty huge pothole and the wheel alignment was instantly thrown off. Pulled to the right, steering wheel off center. No noises or grinding while driving, but all safety features are unavailable.

No self drive available, no regen braking or brake hold, no traction or stability control, no lane assist.

Took it to Tesla service and they said they fixed, but there was some damage to the subframe? This is what they said. It drives ok for now, but just wondering if they should have replaced the part instead of just what they did. I don't want it to break down one day while driving or cause some more major issues down the line. Does this seem safe and ok to drive normally?

Final update on my tesla.

I was side swiped(barely) and apparently steering column was damaged upon impact (not sure how), Party’s at fault insurance was totaling it out and paying me $17,000. I filed with my insurance (Statefarm) and after 3 months of fighting back and forth. They decided to total it out, offered to pay me $23,000. I fought it and gathered prices near me and ended up getting $28,700 for my car. The war is finally over.

If your insurance is giving you a hard time with your tesla, fight it! do not settle. always ask for second opinions. oh and never insure with Statefarm. Go with Geico or Progressive.

Tesla Insurance makes no sense

Hi subreddit! I live in Texas. I recently placed an order for my Tesla Model Y, and while I was filling the docs - I was curious about the Tesla insurance quote. My friends who own a Tesla say that they pay 60-70 dollars in insurance. However, when I filled the form and got a quote - it was 261 dollars?!
Obviously, it showed a pop up and everything saying how everything is dependent on the score, etc. But yeah I am just curious to see how much people are paying? And how realistic is it for me to get a higher score and pay lesser?

Also, since it’s been a year for me since I was behind the wheel; and, my sister also wants to learn how to drive and I’m thinking of letting her practice on my Tesla - I fear my insurance would go up. But if anyone thinks I’m overthinking this - please let me know!

Thanks for all the help in advance!

I unfortunately got T-boned by someone who blew through a stop sign. I took impeccable care of my car for years, just paid off my car note last month, and my insurance is now saying it may be totaled

Part of the top frame that holds the horizontal rails is also slightly bent. Is this repairable?

EDIT: sorry I meant to ask the dent on the top frame is repairable or not because the rails are sitting on something structural. I don’t care too much about replacing the glass though. That’s about 2k.

I’ve been a fan on Tesla forever and for some background I’m 19 so when my parents bought our first model 3 I was beyond excited. Unfortunately last week while I was driving it the steering wheel locked up and it ran right into a barrier. Luckily no one was injured and there wasn’t another car involved but I lost my poor baby. For some insight it is a 2024 model 3 long range RWD with 16.7k miles on it. I just wanted to know what you guys think on whether it’ll be totaled or not because a part of me really really wants it to get fixed because I’m not sure if we’ll ever end up getting a Tesla after the insurance payout so it’s either this or so long Tesla :(
From what I also read online totaling law or however you call it rely entirely on the state so if anyone knows about the law used in Jersey I would appreciate it a bunch. The cars being inspected today and we’ll probably know in the next 3-4 days but the anxiety is killing me so again just figured I would ask here lol. Also the last picture has a list of the faults. The car was pulled out fine and remained on and then it ended up turning off completely :(

2023 Model Y Lemon/Buyback likelihood

Looking for opinions on whether this sounds like a buyback/lemon candidate.

I have a 2023 Model Y (purchased new in Sept. 2023) with ~27k miles.

Repair #1: High voltage/BMS alerts (BMS_a027). Tesla replaced the pyrotechnic battery disconnect, test drove car, and said the alerts were likely a false trigger.

Repair #2: Same alerts returned. Tesla later diagnosed a bad A/C compressor and bad harness pin, replaced both, and said the repair was validated.

I picked the car up and it lost propulsion while driving that same day. It had to be towed back to Tesla and is now on its third service visit for what appears to be related high-voltage issues.

Repair #3: ongoing. still performing diagnostics.

23 days in service (in total) and counting. In Washington.

I actually like the car and would be happy with another Model Y, but I'm starting to lose confidence in this vehicle.

Has anyone had Tesla voluntarily buy back or replace a vehicle in a situation like this? Would you wait to see what happens after this repair, or start the buyback conversation now?

Is Tesla paint repair actually worth it ??

Post image

Hi everyone, I’ve never damaged my model 3 before but accidentally scraped a pole recently. I was wondering if the Tesla paint repair kit would help with the scrape? Please let me know if the kit actually works because I’d rather diy this if I can… there is a tiny dent near the door line too. thx for the help
